Located near the new Sangaiwe Gate of Tarangire National Park, Tarangire Simba Lodge is situated in a wildlife-rich area with unhampered views to beautiful Lake Burunge, bordered by the park and a Wildlife Management Area. The setting is stunning; with a giant old Baobab tree anchoring one corner and a permeating feeling of real Africa. Classic tents under thatch with outdoor showers, wooden floors and glass doors & windows onto the private deck comprise accommodation. The common area is also tented with a separate bar/lounge and dining room. A large sundeck surrounds the swimming pool and there is an elevated platform for viewing wildlife or dining.

Tarangire Simba Lodge is right outside Tarangire Park, so a nice location. One caveat, though, is that once you enter the park, you cannot return to the lodge during the day and then reenter unless you want to pay a hefty fee for entering the Park. So your safari needs to be an entire day, not broken up into morning/afternoon. The lodge itself is spacious and luxurious. The cabins hardly feel like tents at all. There are two showers - one outdoor, which was really a cool experience. Showers are recommended during the afternoon or evening, as they can't guarantee hot water in the morning. Lovely porches on the tent cabins and lovely grounds. We saw zebras and an elephant right in front of the lodge as we were having a glass of wine. The lodge also provides very lovely shower products from Inaya in Zanzibar, wish I would have purchase some of them! The only problem we had was with a rather loud group of tourists. They were in the bar all evening and were very loud - we didn't hear any animals at all because it was so very noisy. I had a hard time getting to sleep. I would have hoped the management would have asked them to quiet down but apparently that isn't done.

Dear Guest, Thank you for the review, we really appreciate your great feedback and are glad you enjoyed your stay at Tarangire Simba Lodge. It's true that Tanzania National Parks has a single entry policy. Some in the tourism industry here are lobbying to change that. We're very sorry to hear that your visit was negatively impacted by those noisy guests and will be sure to mention this to the manager. The Marketing Team ~ Simba Portfolio Lodges

We travelled to Tarangire Simba Lodge during Christmas, 2020. We chose to visit this lodge because of its high recommendations from our friends and family! As soon as we reached the lodge, we were greeted with refreshing juices and warm towels. This made us feel very welcome!

Moreover, what impressed us more was the Covid-19 guidelines that the management was following. The management wore masks for protection. Social distancing marks were put in place. Furthermore, we were required to sanitize our hands before entering the reservation area, and our temperatures were checked for extra precaution.

Once we checked into the lodge, we got a change to look around - what struck my eyes was the beautiful view of the bush and the lake! What I personally liked was how big the swimming pool was. As soon as I saw the pool, I wanted to jump right in and relax!

The unique feature about Tarangire Simba Lodge is that the rooms are named after different animals in Kiswahili!

The rooms were very spacious. Furthermore, the sliding glass windows gave us an opportunity to look at the beautiful view, as well as spot animals early in the morning.

What impressed us more was how delicious the food was. My personal favourite was the pumpkin soup that we enjoyed that night, with warm buttery bread. I paired this delicious meal with a sweet cocktail! I loved the bread so much that the management was kind enough to give me a loaf of their homemade bread for my journey back.

All in all, this was a very memorable Christmas. Escaping to the wilderness allowed us to free ourselves of our problems and actually enjoy our surroundings and the peaceful environment. The highlights of my trip were swimming under the beautiful sun, lounging on the deck and enjoying the scrumptious meals!

I truly believe that this trip was an escape to the wilderness, and an escape from the real-world. Highly recommend!!!

Google maps didn't have a very good location of the lodge and we got lost however as soon as we contacted the Lodge they sent someone to the main road to escort us to the hotel. We arrived very late at around 930pm (through no fault of the lodge) and they accommodated us for dinner (a la carte) even though it was well past the time. They made us a special cake as well!

As they did when we stayed at another of their lodges, they decorated the rooms for our honeymoon and it was a great setup. They even have an outdoor shower! The next day they allowed us a late breakfast and a late checkout. The owner Mr. Raj was a very pleasant person to meet and he made us feel extremely welcome. Definitely coming back in the future.

This lodge was one of my most favorite places to stay at on our trip. I loved our rooms. We had two tents because we took our 19 and 21 year old as well. We were right on the edge of the bush near burungie lake just outside of Tarangire national park. We saw so much wildlife just from our rooms and pool deck and dinner table!!!! Elephants in front of the pool warthog families, water bucks , zebras, mongoose families and sooooo much more right from our pool deck chairs. We were there in January too so lots of babies due to calving season. So if you don’t do a safari one of your days there you can enjoy all the animals you like right there.

The rooms had indoor and outdoor showers, bottled water in each room, comfy beds , no mosquitoes, but do have mosquito nets over beds and super clean with stunning views right into the wild. You will see animals here! It feels like national geographic with a front row seat. And a cocktail!

They had everything you could want or need. The pool was out of this world and so refreshing to come back to after a long dusty safari!, a herd of water bucks walked right up from the watering hole to drink from our pool as well as a maribu stork! The bar was crazy good! So much to choose from and the restaurant had the Best food of our trip. So much choice and all excellent quality.

The staff were so incredibly wonderful from the brave night guards who walked the camp at night to keep it safe, to the sweetest front desk staff to the kitchen staff and of course papa Tom the chef… wow can he cook and spoiled us at every meal including lunch boxes which were out of this world ( also the best lunch boxes of the trip) !! The front receptionist (I wish I had asked her name, we just loved her) Everything was so wonderful! We got a little emotional when we left because every one was just that lovely .

This place is just stunning! I plan on going back again in the future to Tanzania and will stay here at least two if not three nights!!! It’s worth it to stay and make really cool memories!!!

Beautiful lodge! I loved the outdoor showers and that the towel rack was a Maasai spear and the toilet paper holder was made of the famous black ebony wood carved into an elephant. I loved it. The food was very delicious also. They had a great pool but I didn't get a chance to use it. The views from the room and from the reception area were amazing. I really liked this lodge. The staff were great. There was no wifi in the room which really sucked. Wifi was only available in the eating area. That's the only negative about this lodge.

We stayed one night during our safari. The hotel and lodges are amazing! The rooms had indoor and outdoor showers, bottled water in each room, comfy beds , mosquito nets over beds and super clean with stunning views right into the wild. You will see animals here for sure at your wakening! The staff was very friendly, helpful and very welcoming. We spent a unique evening dining on the terrace with the elephants and zebras a few meters from us. The food is a buffet of good quality and really diversified. The swimming pool and pool deck also overlooks a breathtaking landscape where you can observe the animals living their lives quietly.
Definetly a hotel i will go back in the future when i'll go back to Tanzania!

I visited the lodge together with my wife post the covid-19 crises in Tanzania. We were well taken care of with the staff taking all the necessary precautionary measures such as wearing masks full to ensure that we felt safe with a peace of mind during the post unprecedented pandemic. The ambiance was superb, the staff were very friendly and offered excellent services from the time we stepped out of our vehicle to the time we got back in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would most definitely visit again in the foreseeable future.

A truly breathtaking experience. The views and the wildlife. I had never imagined that so many elephants would have been so close to the pool and dining area and when I woke up and stepped out of our lodge there were elephants, wart hogs and birds all walking passed our lodge towards the watering hole, all so close, it was surreal. I watched the sunrise and set and both were tinglingly magical. The lodge was ideal and had an outdoor shower so you can literally soak up the outdoors, breathe it in and listen to the wildlife. I swam in the pool too which was another truly special experience watching the elephants all hanging out together at their watering hole so close to the humans splashing around in theirs. The staff are all really friendly and use a flashlight signal for them to accompany you around the grounds after sunset. Like most lodges the WiFi is limited to the reception area which is fine. I'd return in a heartbeat, thank you for a wonderful stay x

Hello and thank you for the question. Regarding Covid protocols, you can find them at the top of the Tarangire Simba Lodge Trip Advisor listing on a green bar called covid 19 update. To answer your questions, the guests are not required to wear masks, but all staff members are and extra cleaning and sanitizing protocols are in place, yes.

Tarangire Simba is located about 1 km from the Sangaiwe Gate to Tarangire National Park. The lodge property actually borders the park but entrance is at the nearby gate. Sangaiwe is one of several entrance gates to the park.
