If you are looking for a vacation away from the usual hustle bustle and the posh hotels, then this homestay is the best I have stayed in. The great things would be :- Location (situated at the lake), delicious home cooked food , friendly staff and owners who will take you around the village and guide you with other activities....

Very nice rooms, in a carefully restored old authentic farmhouse. In a very nice garden, surrounded by the famous backwaters of Allapuzza. Ideal to stay a couple of days, making trips by boat, bicycle or walk.

beautiful rooms, peaceful backwater setting, delicious food and very attentive service, the owner should be very proud of this special Kerala home stay! The after dinner performance topped off our stay, we were just sad not to stay longer. we stayed in the new cottage at the back of the compound. A little more sound proofing between the rooms could...

Stayed here for our last night on 7 day Kerala trip, booking the newer Venice Heritage rooms, which are in the back and away from the main house. Due to the poor experience staying in these rooms though, I would not recommend coming here Pros: - Beautiful house right in a small village, interesting history - Can see the local...

Meals are served under a large sunshade. You arrive the island by boat only. Meals are mixed-indian and continental. Food us ok. Service is nice...

After staying in some fairly decent properties throughout India, I'm not sure why our tour company booked my friend and me at this property. The ride from the dock to the island is charming, but when we arrived at the island no one was there to welcome us as had been the custom at every other place we'd stayed. Thank...

Emerald Isle is located on a island which is surrounded of paddy fields. Reaching the place requires a ferry boat ride of about five minutes. Boat ride is enjoyable as it exposes you to nature around. The property is a heritage house with history of about 150 years. Its spread across 5 acres and has two small ponds within. Walk...

Emerald isle is an amazing old house set facing the backwaters in Alleppey, it is situated in a big island and thus they will provide a boat to Ferri you across the water. The property is very well maintained and the rooms are truly unique. The owners can organise boat and canoe tours in the neighbouring small canals and the...

We have just spent the most wonderful three night stay at the Emerald Isle. We were made to feel so welcome. The service was attentive but discreet. We arrived from Munnar after a 6 hour bus ride to Alappuzha. (fantastic experience - highly recommended. Massive cost of 300 rupees.) Tuk-tuk from Alappuzha and then Tom picked us up in a...

We stayed at the Emerald isle for two nights in August 2016. The house is beautifully restored with lot of character. The surrounding garden is great for relaxing. The staff were very hospitable and helped us organise all the activities we wanted (houseboat cruise, cycling, walking). The food was very good as well. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the beautiful waterways and backwaters of the Kuttanad region of Central Kerala lies Emerald Isle, an exotic haven of tranquility, seemingly remote from city life, yet barely 10 kilometers from Alleppey Town. Tucked away on this delightful island lies the Emerald Isle Heritage Villa, an ancestral Country House set in 9 acres of secluded grounds – your Retreat into a Paradise of Peace. Emerald Isle Heritage Home is situated in an island resplendent with exotic flora, breathtaking flowers, myriad birds and butterflies to make for a memorable holiday, affordable and unforgettable. A truly wonderful way to spend your time on the banks of the backwaters of Kerala! Our house, dating back 150 years, retains its original architectural features, mostly in teak, with splendid wood carvings. There is also a fine Ara, the timber storeroom used in former times for the golden harvest of rice – golden because the island’s lush green paddy fields turn gold at the time of the harvest. Our property stretches across 9 acres including lush green paddy fields and fish ponds. All meals are served in dining room. Please ask us if you want to have any special facilities like Ayurvedic treatments or houseboat rides. Emerald Isle is ideal for those wanting to relax, sun themselves or getting away from it all. The tranquil air here is salve to frayed nerves and everyday tensions. Read a book or taste the locally harvested ’toddy’ fresh from the coconut trees ! When you tire of lazing in a hammock, or sunbathing in the courtyard garden, you can take a walk around the island, go fishing or have a swim. Emerald Isle Heritage Villa offers peace, privacy and pure relaxation. There are only 5 rooms (All Air-conditioned) for guests and each has its own en-suite Open-Shower bathroom with all modern facilities. The en-suite bathrooms have been tastefully done and open to the sky above to give you a feel of being truly closer to nature at Emerald Isle! ... more   less
