From an architectural point of view, the place is worth the visit as it used to be the governor's house. Built in a colonial style this place makes you travel through time. The rooms are very spacious and quite nice but as we visited this hotel during the rainy and cold season, we spent the coldest night ever ! The...

This is a warning to all to be careful when making any bookings online. I had a terrible experience and got scammed by a website that claims to be the Grosvenor Hotel. I booked and paid online, directly through (what I could only assume was) the hotel's website. When I (single female) arrived at the hotel after dark, the large...

We stayed 1 night in this hotel during weeks of rain in December 2014. The inside of the buildings looks nice and majestic but don't let it fool you!!! At the moment we stepped inside the hotel we noticed the low cold temperature. Inside the room we had a moist damp smell! After a short while we saw that they...

We first liked the place, a beautiful colonial building with character. Only to realise later it was miserable. No heating in the lounge or the room (and it gets really cold!!!). Just enough lighting. The manager was too busy watching sport on TV. Wifi very slow. We spent a cold night and we left.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July. Location is within walking distance of the centre of town. The actual building is beautiful inside, so much could be done here. Rooms were big and with fireplace. We asked for a double bed, we got 2 twins pushed together and separate sheets and a tiny blanket (it was cold when we were...

We were on a guided tour, accommodation booked for us. Our feeling about this hotel is to some effect influenced by the weather, which was cool and wet, rather like our home town, Glossop. Our room was rather charming - quaintly old-fashioned with interesting furniture and lots of dark polished wood. It was distinctly chilly. We asked for a fire...

The Grosvenor has a good bit of old time (colonial) atmosphere along with clean rooms and a quiet location just off the main road at the edge of town. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the heart of "downtown" or the Grand Hotel, an important attraction. I first landed in another, more expensive hotel closer to the center and bailed...

We are on tour. This is our 6th night on Sri Lanka. A few hotels behind us. This is so far our favorite one. Very nice architecture, good service, with honest smile, not a trained one. We have got room with a fireplace. And we use it, it is a bit expensive to buy a wood but it is worth...

Definately a nice building originally, but overall we would not recommend staying here, and definately not eating here. We had the worst meal ever, and we went to bed hungry in cold room, and almost did not sleep. The staff is a group of Young boys running and playing in The halls, and dont know anything about service or cooking....

My wife and I spent one night here because we were doing the Worlds End hike and it was close to drive there. BIG MISTAKE!!! We arrived to a cold, dark and damp room. We asked for towels and when they brought them, they were still wet and had a weird smell to them. We were unpacking to settle in...
