We stayed one night here, on arrival we hired mountain bikes and rode around Ella. The staff gave us directions on where to go and what to see. We asked about a van to Hortons Plains and they took us there with the group the next day. The transport fee charged was fair and the driver was excellent.

I stayed for 2 nights in a big, quiet room in the new annex. Plenty of hot water. The manager was very friendly and helpful (brother-in-law of the owner). They set me up with transportation to Horton Plains. Food is nothing to write home about, but there's a small juice stand near the main road that's worth a visit.

Although slightly old fashioned the room was clean, there was hot water & staff were friendly and accommodating! All in cost around 35usd inc tax, service charge, breakfast & taxi to the train station. Close proximity to everything too.

The room was clean and spacious however the meals were small and expensive by comparison to any restaurant in the city. I would recommend another hotel even though the lonely planet rates this hotel, I don't.

We agreed upon a final price of 3000LKR (although tax was later added unexpectedly) and, while the room was okay, I don't think it was worth much more. The hot water system was inconsistent and any hot water was short-lived. The bed was huge and comfortable but one of the pillows sucked and when I asked if any others were...

Good quality/price ratio. Considering our visit was during a crazy time they kept the price reasonable. More value in the very efficient tour management service (three day trip organized late in the evening for the very next day!) than in actual accomodation though. Wifi was not really available. Guiides recommendations are a mixed blessing for this kind of mid-range establishment....

Thank you for the clean room and the helpful staff. Good backpackers hotel. Good value, very enjoyable simple dinner. The tour they booked and driver arranged both worked out very well. (Surprising wide range of TV stations, although little chance to watch.)

We booked a poorly organised trip to Horton's plains with the Single Tree Hotel. The minivan was 4000 rupees according to the manager, so the amount per person would depend on the amount of people to join. We ended up being with 7 people all paying 1000 rupees (which, on itself, is a fair price by the way). On top...

this was one of the more expensive rooms we stayed in, but the smallest (one could only just walk around the bed), and the only one which didn't even have a mosquito net. there was construction work going on everywhere. the service couldn't quite manage with the dinner evern though there were only guests at two tables. the worst thing...
