Me and my wife had a nice stay here on our honeymoon. The food, room, service and location made this place a very pleasant stay indeed. Easy to find and only a five minute walk to city centre. This was a great place to stay while we explored around Nuwara Eliya

We actually visited in May 2015. We planned a family reunion and Ferncliff proved to be an excellent choice. The food, mostly grown in the kitchen gardens were fresh and tasted wonderful. The chef was amazing.nothing was too much to ask. So hospitable. So relaxing and wonderfully spacious. All of us enjoyed ourselves very much.

If you are visiting the rich and almost heavenly landscape of tea gardens in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, then a stay at this charming property may offer you a flavour of colonial British culture. A complete pedigree of this property is displayed for guests and is carefully blended in to your experience at Ferncliff. Whether its a game of croquet...

This place at the end of the winding road has only 4 rooms, making the experience qiute intimate and cozy. The very proffesional and pleasant staff waits at the arrival, serves a pot of their own tea-blend, and gives you the tour of the property. The room had a very good size and was nicely furnished, complete with a necessary...

We booked Ferncliff for a one night stay in Nuwara Eliya. The owner is a very kind man called Marlon and he was very accommodating when we arrived, especially as it was the one rainy day we had in the entire two weeks! We had some welcome tea and cake and he is very proud of the bungalow - pointing...

Dear Zahra, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Honest feedback always keeps us on our toes and helps us maintain standards. Very large room in an old house. Modern bathroom. Nice garden. The house is old so we could hear a bit of noise from the other room. However it did not disturb us. Dear Vincent, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Thank you, in particular, for the feedback on the cold meals that were served to you. We stayed at Ferncliff during our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The estate is a charming, four-room colonial bungalow with a lovely garden. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ferncliff perched on one of the highest points of Nuwara Eliya commands a view like no other of 'Little England'. This includes being set against the magnificent backdrop of Mount Pedro (Pidurutalagala), which at 2524 m (8,281 ft) is Sri Lanka's highest point. Just ten minutes walk from the Grand Hotel and the Golf Club, Ferncliff is uniquely placed to be the centre of your Nuwara Eliya universe which includes Horton Plains National Park, Tea Plantations and other locations of interest in the hill country. Deeds for the Ferncliff lands predate the founding of the first Nuwara Eliya settlement by Great White Hunter and Explorer, Sir Samuel Baker in 1846. The bungalow, now a heritage site, had its beginnings in the 1850s and the ghosts of Samuel Baker and his ilk still walk our expansive lawns hunting elephants, deer and wild boar to near extinction in the lush Nuwara Eliya valley. Today, with restorations that have retained its rustic charm, Ferncliff offers comforts that few bungalows in town can aspire to, and our team led by our chef with over 30 years of experience in the hotel trade, will ensure that your time with us will be comfortable and relaxed. Rest assured that although Ferncliff is centrally located, once inside her gates the hustle and bustle of the town is forgotten. Enjoy a game of croquet, a round of boules, or just wander around our extensive grounds which include a young rose garden and very soon, orange and pear orchards. Look no further for what promises to be a truly authentic Nuwara Eliya experience. Kindly note that, accommodation for drivers and guides are not available in the premises. ... more   less
