About
Description
As Madison's first and only AAA Four Diamond property, The Edgewater is the proud revival of an historic hotel, right on the shores of Lake Mendota, adjacent to the University of Wisconsin and steps from the More state Capitol, in the heart of downtown Madison. The restored property maintains the classic facade of its predecessor, now called The Langdon Building, and a new tower, The Wisconsin Building, all with completely new interiors, several restaurants, a magnificent spa, ballrooms, and a large plaza that connects both hotel guests and the public with the beautiful waters of the lake. The hotel has 202 guest rooms, the majority offering gorgeous lake views, including presidential suites and studios with kitchenettes. The Edgewater Spa provides fitness and personal training overlooking Lake Mendota, as well as full service, customized hair, makeup, nail services and relaxing massage. Restaurant options range from The Statehouse for distinctive dining, to The Boathouse, a bar and restaurant in the great Wisconsin tradition of casual waterfront spots, The Icehouse for very casual dining, and The Cafe, for coffee and lighter fare throughout the day. Meeting and banquet facilities range from The Grand Ballroom and Mendota Ballroom, both in the Wisconsin Building, to The Red Crown Club on top of the Langdon Building, offering versatility and spectacular views of Lake Mendota. The Plaza lies at the heart of The Edgewater between The Langdon Building and the Wisconsin Building, almost an acre, open to the public with regularly scheduled outdoor events, concerts and celebrations, converting in winter to a skating rink. No one has given me such excellent and reassuring service for booking at a hotel before as much as Myron Petties has. What a WONDERFUL person you have on your team Edgewater Hotel - if it wasn’t for him, I’d have booked elsewhere. Thank you to Myron Petties!

The Edgewater is such a beautiful hotel with a luxury feel but without the luxury price tag. We stayed here for the weekend and found the location to be great - amazing views over the lake, and close proximity to places of interest.

They have built a cute skating rink on their

Spoke to Myron Petties to book a two night stay and he could not have been more helpful. He was so personable and accommodating. I have never written a review before, but he was so nice that I wanted everyone to know. Looking forward to my stay!

Stayed at the historic Edgewater Hotel. The renovations are beautiful and the setting on Lake Mendota is perfect for any event. Wonderful food, staff and amenities. The outdoor ice skating rink with beautiful lighting is magical.

We generally had a good stay at the hotel where we had a room with double queen beds. The room was spacious, clean and the bathroom was nice as well. The room and hotel was pretty quiet but the hotel was not full during our stay.

The location is close to the capitol which is gre

How much is parking
This seems to have conflicting answers. I was charged $18 to park my car one night. Had I known, I would have simply parked on the street (lots of free parking) Definitely ask up front to ensure you know what you’re getting into. And as I side note, I found the underground parking garage very confusing and odd. 🤷‍♀️

Hi. What is the difference between the Lakeview King and the Lakeshore King rooms? Do both have views of the lake?
Good Morning JWinChica, Thank you for your wonderful question. The Lakeview King Rooms offer a view of the lake, however a Lakeshore room is a lower-level room closer to the shore and has a full, lake-facing view with floor to ceiling windows. The Lakeshore room view is similar to one you might have on a cruise ship. Please let us know if you have any other questions. All Our Best, Amy Supple, COO The Edgewater Team

Where is parking? Is parking free? What do I need to book, specifically, for a water view? Thanks!
Dear Chelsea T, Thank you for your question regarding your future visit to The Edgewater. Our overnight parking garage is located on-site and it is $18 for self-parking or $25 for valet. As we have multiple room types that offer a lake view, I highly recommend calling our reservations team at 608-535-8200 so they may describe the lake views and the benefits of each room,. One of my favorite rooms is the Premium Lakefront, which offers an expansive view of the lake. We look forward to welcoming you to The Edgewater on beautiful Lake Mendota! Specific rooms to ask for if you want an unobstructed lake view? Old bldg or new bldg?
Dear LookingforSun1974, Thank you for your interest in staying at The Edgewater. I highly recommend reserving a Lakeshore room, which provides a cruise ship style view of the lake or a Premium Lakefront room, which is our most popular room type, both of these rooms are available in our new Wisconsin building. If you prefer our Langdon building, which was the original Edgewater building, I recommend reserving a Langdon Studio which offers direct lake view as well as soaking tubs. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact our reservations team at 608-535-8200, they will be happy to answer any questions you might have about our accommodations and can offer other recommendations for your future visit to Madison and The Edgewater. What is the difference in the Langdon and Wisconsin Buildings? Is there a check-in at both or would you have to check in and one and walk over to another potentially. Advantages/disadvantages to each esp regarding lake front rooms?
Hello Constantlee, Thank you for submitting your question. The Wisconsin building is our main building which includes our lobby and check-in. The Langdon building is the historic original building of The Edgewater and is home to our Spa, Boathouse restaurant, as well as hotel rooms. Both buildings have lake view rooms. If you have more questions, please visit our website or contact our reservations team at 608-535-8200, both provide detailed information regarding the features of our different room types. We hope to welcome you to The Edgewater soon! All Our Best, Amy Supple, COO The Edgewater Team
