Very authentic looking. It's a very basic & minimalist room but we weren't there to hang out in the room, it was really just a place to sleep & shower. In saying that the bathroom could use a bit of work, but can't expect 5* for the price. Close to everything, but quiet location. Great staff, had a balcony room...

If your looking for a 5 star luxury hotel don't stay here . But if your looking for a very clean room in the center of the French Quarter at a very good price this is it !! A cool old place with some neat history. Also has a parking garage. We would definitely stay here again

Understanding that this is only a two star hotel, the rating is for room decor, cleanliness, comfort and friendly staff. There is a hair dryer and iron in the room. 9x15 living area excluding bathroom. Walk in shower. Nice size balcony. Two blocks from the French market. About a 10-15 minute walk to the busy section of Bourbon Street. TLC...

Its old and funky, kinda shabby, but quiet and clean and close to everything. They are currently renovating too though. If you want the Marriott go stay there. This place is a bargain and right in the middle of everything.

The staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, and always available. The location is perfect - close to the French Market, Frenchmen Street, and all of the French Quarter action, but tucked away enough that it's not rowdy. The facility is adorable and clean. We had a wonderful time, and highly recommend this hotel.

The room was creepy and smelled old and not really clean. It was all kind of badly taken care of but it seems it is a typical style of this city... The situation was good though, right in the middle of French Quarter but in a street with no bars an no noise. They have parking if you reserve but...

You don't go to the French Quarter for modern conveniences, spotless paint, pristine sidewalks, and genteel crowds. You go for the funky, shabby vibe, friendly people, run-down bars with peeling paint, cracked and heaved pavement, loud boisterous crowds and some of the best music and food in the world. The Villa Convento fits right in. It's on a relatively quiet...

There is a difference between having character and being shabby or run down. The lobby is interesting, the courtyard was quaint, but with all respect to the owners and past reviewers, my room was shabby. The furnishings in my room were not period; they are thrift store finds and maybe thrift store rejects. The dresser in my room was a...

My bride introduced me to this treasure shortly after we married almost 35 years ago. It has been our base for visiting the French Quarter for all but one trip since. This quiet inn on Urslines, between Royal and Chartres, is not large, but is convenient, comfortable, and cost-friendly. Just writing this pulls me to plan a Big Easy trip...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
