Soniat House was a find and favorite! Not to say it no longer is; but what a difference a room makes. Initially we were given a lovely room on the 3rd floor, a deeply sloped garret.. My husband was worried he would hit his head on the beams which I thought was a stretch. Unfortunately, not the case. We had...

We go to New Orleans for major birthdays, anniversaries or just to go. When we go, we stay at the Soniat House. It is a wonderful hotel but more than that as we know the staff and they know us. That relationship makes it home and not a hotel. From the first time we went in 1991 to this past...

Soniat hotel has an old world charm,a calm oasis amidst the mayhem of mardi gras. Loved the location very convenient for transport and walking distance to most of mardi gras parades. Staff very helpful, breakfast on the patio was a lovely way to start the day. Room was very comfortable . A lovely experience.

My father booked the Soniat House without my knowledge for a business trip. Soniat House was generous to upgrade him to the most beautiful suite in the hotel which they did not have to do. We enjoyed this suite to meet and it was extra special when it just happened to be my 46th an my dad's 75th birthday. My...

Loved the quaint property but was disappointed when I injured my knee(dancing) and couldn't walk the next morning I would have loved someone to come over when I sat in the lovely courtyard for my departure time just to say Hi how are doing and good luck with your knee. It's been 7 weeks and I still can't walk.

This small hotel has only 30 rooms, 20 in the main building and 10 more across the street. The charm of the place turned out to be the most memorable part of our visit to New Orleans. We had a large comfortable suite on the ground floor of the main building opening directly into the wonderful private courtyard. Our room...

The Soniat House is a charming & elegant small hotel. Being on the outer edge of the French Quarter, all of the historical sites & great restaurants are within easy walking distance, but it also is quiet & peaceful with its pretty courtyard. Best of all, the Soniat staff are exceptionally helpful & friendly. Special kudos go to Scott, Linda,...

This was our third time staying at the Soniat House. It was a very long time between visits and it was still as wonderful as we remembered. It is just a warm, inviting, comfortable place to stay. The breakfast biscuits and coffee are not to be missed. The staff is absoulutely wonderful and helpful with recommendations of restaurants. Can't wait...

This was my fifth visit to New Orleans. All of the previous visits were either for business or combined business/leisure so while we stayed at quite luxurious places in the CBD we were never able to select our hotel, and felt that they lacked local character. This time my husband and I visited only to celebrate our anniversary. We satisfied...

Many thanks to you for your time. Rarely does anyone take so much care with a favorable review. You write so well that I suspect a professional. I am delighted that you were so obviously pleased with your stay at Soniat House and sincerely regret that you had even a minor issue . Please do return soon. We have three...

If you want the hotel experience this is not the place for you. I would call this an inn. It does not have a bar fridge in the room (though one may be installed if needed for meditations for example); there is no restaurant though a simple and delicious breakfast may be ordered until quite late; and no room service...

What a lovely review! Thank you for taking the time to write it. . Next time we will introduce you to Verti Mart. It is a wonderful little deli just 1 block away that delivers for any guests who prefer to "eat in".

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
