From the second you arrive at Soniat House you feel completely welcome and at ease in this lush location right in the thick of New Orleans. The room was gorgeous and generously sized and our view of the courtyard was perfection. We were tempted not to even leave the room the entire weekend! But when you do leave the room,... More

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. Please come back soon. Former guests often call to reserve and inquire if we still have the biscuits. We will always have the biscuits. More

Love, love, LOVE this hotel. Restored French Quarter homes, rooms furnished with period antiques, great climate control, good bathrooms, luxury linens ... beautiful private courtyard. What's NOT to like? It's away from the frenetic part of the quarter, but still easy walking to just about anything. The entire staff is incredibly helpful and fun! Sitting on the veranda in comfortable wicker... More

The hotel was beautiful, and truly reflected the grandeur of "old" New Orleans living. The porters were personable, helpful, and kind. Rooms on the inner courtyard were very quiet, and we enjoyed listening to the fountain at night. A few negatives were very limited breakfast, although Angeline's in the next block was delicious, so we ate there most mornings. Rooms... More

I truly appreciate your kindness in giving us a 4 bubble review. It doesn't sound to me like we deserved it Dusty light fixtures, furniture missing knobs, a tray left in the room and inconsistent turn down service are unforgiveable. The same housekeeper was assigned to all 4 of your rooms. Thanks to your review the situation will be rectified... More

The Soniat House is part of the Small Luxury Hotels group which is one of the main reasons I selected this hotel to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. I was very disappointed with my experience. I reserved using Tablet and was eligible for an upgrade as well as a few amenities. My first disappointment: no available upgrade. Understandable given that it... More

I know that you arrived before noon on Good Friday and the previous guest in Room 11 had not yet checked out. That might explain why you did not remember Mrs. Pou's explanation of the shutters. She has been at the Front Desk and has never failed to inform the guests who check in for the two Superior rooms on... More

This was my third time here - I love the atmosphere - like staying in the home of a friend with a really historic house. Soniat House is in a quiet residential part of the French Quarter, just minutes away by foot from the sights and restaurants. We have always found the staff to be friendly and genuinely happy to... The Soniat House is listed among the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. It is made up of three large and gracious 1830's Townhouses. Located just three blocks from Jackson Square in the residential part of the French Quarter it is a boutique hotel full of Creole charm and antiques. It is very upscale with an unusually attentive staff, charming... More

Thank you for your lovely review. I am sorry that you were disappointed not to find a coffee maker in the room. That is not an amenity that we ever intend to provide. This is the best spot in NO. The French quarter location is charming and just far enough from the crowd. The rooms are lovely and very well done. The service is perfect It's a lovely spot. You get a real taste of New Orleans here. The courtyard and balcony is a great place to soak it all in.

A beautiful, quiet hotel in a perfect location. Close enough to Frenchman and Bourbon Street (go to Frenchman...outstanding music at night) but far enough away to be a true respite. Courtyard is beautiful and service is outstanding.

Our second time at this hotel- perfect! The room was large, lovely bedding, and a gracious staff. The location is perfect. A walkable distance from most Mardi Gras parades, and in the Quarter, but mercifully away from late night revelry. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in New Orleans.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
