During the 4 years our daughter attended Tulane University we stayed in many small hotels and B&Bs. We fell in love with the city and visited ALOT. When it was time to meet our (now grown) daughter there we knew right where to stay - the Chimes. It is our very favorite place to stay. It captures the feel and...

My husband and I stayed here three nights, and loved every minute! Jill is incredibly knowledgeable, and an excellent hostess - we so enjoyed chatting with her over breakfast, and were totally comfortable asking her advice on everything from transportation to local attractions. Our room was very cozy, prettily decorated with soft, comfortable linens and plenty of pillows. The lush,...

We were there for business and I am already planning my return. It was unfortunate that we couldn't truly take advantage of this lovely B&B. Jill was super accommodating prior to our trip and welcomed our early arrival due to travel constraints. I was warmly greeted by Charles who invited me to sit and eat even though our check-in wasn't...

All the rooms are well appointed and nice. Room 2 is the largest. We stayed in #4 which has a nice four-poster bed. The breakfast of fresh bakery pastries and terrific coffee with fruit and egg if you want is to die for. The courtyard is what makes this place so special. The landscaping, soft chimes and lovely setting along...

Jill is an incredibly warm and accommodating host. She gave us excellent recommendations of more off-the-beaten path things to do in NOLA. She let us arrive early and stay late, as no one was booking in directly after us. She clearly knows and loves the city. The breakfast is delicious and copious amounts of coffee is available. Rooms are nicely...

We had a lovely time at the Chimes! Jill and Charles are very kind and thoughtful people. The daily breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The B&B is located a short 5-10 minute walk from the trolley, which was very convenient for our visits to the French Quarter and Garden District. We highly recommend!

We had a great stay at The Chimes! The food was wonderful, the room was cozy and everything was pristine! Highly recommend staying in the garden district and taking the streetcar as it is much quieter than The French quarter. We were able to go do everything on bourbon and Frenchman, and then come home and relax.

Jill, the owner, is extraordinary - generous, open, relaxed, communicative, truly committed to making each guest feel at home. From loaning her yoga mat to carefully mapping out recommended sights, music, restaurants, and walks, you won't find a more caring host. Rooms are small but nicely furnished; the house itself is stunning and Jill knows its history. The courtyard is...

This is the 2nd time we had stayed at the Chimes- the first being the summer after Hurricane Katrina. Jill is the best- hands down. The attention to details (special washcloths for removing your make-up to linen napkins and individual pots for tea at breakfast) make the Chimes a great gem in NOLA. The location is great- 'technically' in Touro...

Chimes is special and I will definitely try to stay there on my return to NOLA. Not only is the location great (quiet, residential neighborhood with easy access downtown), lovely rooms and courtyard building, wonderful bakery with the breakfast, etc., but the owner Jill is an incredible resource for all things jazz (and a lovely person to talk to). If...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
