The Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Downtown receives a mix of feedback from guests. While the hotel's location near the French Quarter is often lauded, and many appreciate its clean and comfortable rooms, some visitors have found the rooms to be small and in need of updates. The service team gets a nod for friendliness but also faces criticism for inconsistency in addressing concerns.
Travelers have expressed dissatisfaction with the hotel's value, mentioning overbooking and unexpected charges. Despite this, the prime location and the included breakfast are highlights for guests, although the atmosphere can feel unwelcoming due to dim lighting and renovations.

This a nice property located about two blocks from the start of Bourbon St. Room was clean and exactly what we expected. Chase at the front desk was great and checked up on us a couple times. There is a very spacious breakfast area that was well stocked. I would stay here again.

First I want to say thank you to Jack because he really set the tone for my trip. He fixed my reservations for me the day before my trip and he also let me know the what to expect with the changes of the hotel. The changes were: no valet parking, self parking available for $20 per night at a lot 1 block from the hotel. I didnt have to use it; no housekeeping service but you can always get towels from the front desk and put the dirty linen in trash bags provided. Housekeeping will clean your room after your stay. I loved using the Hilton Honors app as my room key, and to access the entrance of the hotel and elevator.
Now the cleanliness of the hotel was immaculate! From the lobby to the rooms, it was very clean. I had a double Queen room and it was excellent. Pretty bathroom and the room was very spacious. I loved the extra seating in the room such as the lounge chair, desk, and the benches in front of the beds. Although I didn't use the closet it was a nice size too with an iron, ironing board, and safe.
The hotel didnt have the usual breakfast because of COVID but they did have the grab and go bags which was already communicated to me before my stay. The grab and go bag contained a muffin, bottled water, and orange. The location was great as the start of the St Charles and The Canal streetcar routes are a block and a half from the hotel. There are plenty of places in the hotel area to eat as well.
Overall I had a wonderful experience and will definitely return again.

Wonderful hotel and service in spite of COVID. Staff very friendly. We opted for no maid service in our room but hotel provided plenty of towels, coffee and toilet paper and picked up trash bags left outside room regularly. Instead of the hot breakfast we were given a bag to go breakfast of water bottle, breakfast bar, fruit and muffin each day and coffee was available. The hotel is connected to a mall that had a food court for quick reasonable meals when we were tired. Hotel is on Carondelet 2 blocks from Canal St and Carondelet turns into Bourbon St so we were within walking distance of the French Quarter and tour stops for Mardi Gras World and Royal Carriages. We parked around the block at Hilton for $20/night no in and out which we found reasonable and easy to access.

Good hotel. Valet greets you when you pull up and takes care of your car ($35 a day unlimited in and out). We didn’t need to get it out at all though as this is an excellent location. Can walk right out and to the action. Loved the security feeling of the building. You need your key card to get to the floors on the elevator. Check in was fast and efficient. All the staff was great. Room was the usual and clean. Great stay.

Traveled for the Clemson/LSU game. Can’t beat the location—1 1/2 blocks from Canal and Bourbon Streets, walking distance to the Superdome, and the Streetcars go right by. Stayed in Room 608, a King Studio which was huge with a wet bar. Loved the spacious layout, but some of the carpet squares were coming up and the shower curtain rod was about to fall down. The room wasn’t serviced one day while we were out, but when we called, the front desk sent someone up right away to clean it. I didn’t have breakfast, but my husband said it was typical for a Hampton. Front desk was very welcoming and helpful with restaurant recommendations.

Great time in NOLA for the SHRM2022 annual conference. Miss Dawanna D. at the check-in desk made our stay seamless and effortless. She hooked us up with helpful restaurants within walking distance. I was astounded when I asked her how many years she had been with the hotel. Less than one! Wow. That speaks to her business and hospitality acumen. That young lady was with the program! Also speaks to whoever is behind an effective training program. Front of the house to back of the house, all the staff with whom I interfaced where spot on and friendly. We showed up early for breakfast one morning and the staff did their very best to accommodate in a friendly and helpful manner. The coffee was already on so we got what we really needed after a little sampling of the NOLA nightlife the previous evening. The 4th floor breakfast room was quite spacious and welcoming. Rooms were clean, beds & duvet bedding comfortable. Air-conditioning was top notch (important!), daily room cleaning was available if needed and housekeeping delivered towels and extra coffee within minutes of contact with the 1st floor desk. The hotel is located in the French Quarter on Carondelet Street that becomes Bourbon Street after you cross Canal Street, about a block west of the hotel. Hotel is on the trolley line and the local architecture is striking. By New Orleans standards, the area is relatively quiet at night, unlike the nearby Bourbon Street area. New Orleans is well what it is but we felt safe walking from Bourbon Street to the hotel later in the evening. By way of disclosure, I am a seasoned Hilton Rewards member and for total value I recommend this hotel over other Hilton options in the area. Well done staff and management! Good choice top to bottom.

Excellent location and service! Janette at the front desk is amazing! She’s very nice and helpful and provided wonderful restaurant recommendations. The room was very large and clean (Room 405). The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom could use some updating (.5 deduction), but was fine for the amount of time we spent in the room. I like feeling comfortable when I’m in the room and I was very comfortable and pleased. CVS is a block away and had everything you need, including liquor, wine and beer. We will definitely be back on our next trip.

If you like a firm bed you will sleep good, if you don’t, well you need to walk more so you will sleep good. Service in great! All staff were extremely helpful and made great recommendations including parking. Front desk staff advised us that if we wasn’t going it in the vehicle to park less than a block away to save money on parking (more than half off!). Despite no housekeeping due to Covid, they supplied us with plenty of linens and coffee. Our view was of other rooms in the complex, but considering all we did we shower and sleep in the room it was exactly what we paid for! In the middle of the various areas so you can walk to most anything within 15 minutes! I would stay here again!

This is a very nice hotel located just outside the traditional area of the French Quarter. The main entrance is two blocks (and not long blocks) from the top of Bourbon Street, and the Green Trolley (St. Charles Avenue) goes right by the front. The location is great! It is within walking distance to the Quarter and to attractions on the Waterfront like the Audobon Aquarium and Insectarium, which are also must sees. Besides the location, the hotel was clean, the staff friendly, the rooms were spacious compared to many city hotels I have seen, and the bathrooms were not tiny! They have reduced room service where they clean only on the fifth day, but you can request cleaning sooner if you wish. Realizing this was the summer and they seemed a tad short staffed, we opted to just request what we needed AS needed (i.e. tissues, towels, pick up the trash when we leave it outside the door), and they did so. The staff was helpful in giving us some hints about how to get around New Orleans and what to do (biggest hint - download the New Orleans Public Transit or RTA map and get the three day pass for eight dollars, well worth it). The breakfast was good and included with the stay (three waffle machines, that always is a winner for me). There could have been more fresh fruit, but otherwise the breakfast was a winner and the location is comfortable and well lit. I would also like to have housekeeping every third day, but again, we could have asked. Biggest complaint is no pool! Could really use that in the summer months. They have a parking garage next to the hotel if you drive in. We flew in to New Orleans Airport and used Uber to get in and out, and the fare is about $32 one way, before tip. Once there the trolleys and buses really get you around the city (thought there are a couple of attractions that are out of their reach, like Mardi Gras World. We walked there under a "heat dome." Take a ride with a cab or Uber! Overall, though, this is a nice place to stay if you want to be near the French Quarter but not in it.

The room was very clean. I liked that they had white comforters on the beds, this way you know they got washed after each stay. The rooms were very quiet, even the the AC was whisper quiet. Free breakfast was very nice and coffee was delicious, unfortunately they didn't refill coffee after breakfast over but they did keep the dining room open. I also liked the safety of having to use room key card to use elevator. Location was the best, you walked a block and the street turned into Bourbon street. I would definitely stay there again.

It's a large buffet breakfast. They have eggs in kind of an omelette style, meat, potatoes every day. Plus waffles, fruit, bagels, bread, yoghurt. Many juices, water and coffee.
I don’t know how many floors the hotel has, buildings in that area of New Orleans are not very tall, so I would say 6 to 8 floors at the most. All the hotels in the United States have to have emergency exit stairs to use in the case of fire, but I don’t know if they are accessible from the outside. You might want to call the hotel directly and ask these questions.
To the best of my knowledge, most hotels are willing to hold luggage (sometimes for a fee).
No, I don't believe so. It's in the Central Business District. We were on a top floor and could only see other buildings around us
