Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, the Wyndham New Orleans wins favor with its prime location and vibrant atmosphere, popular among guests eager to explore the local music and urban scene. While some travelers have expressed concerns over the aging rooms and lack of certain in-room amenities, many have commended the hotel's spotless cleanliness and cozy, homelike ambiance.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
I spend 5 nights in NOLA with my brother and his wife and we stayed at the Wyndham. We were very pleased generally with the hotel. My room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Bed was very comfortable. As I was on the 20th floor, I didn't get any street noise at night. Royal St was busy at night with lots of people but I'm used to the urban environment so I expected that. Security was effective and unobtrusive at the hotel. There's a restaurant next door "Ed's" that was pretty good and we sometimes had breakfast there. One unusual thing was the need to switch lifts at the 18th floor to access the last two, but you get used to it. The location is very good for the French Quarter and it's right next to the Canal St trolley car stops. We were able to walk easily to Frenchmen St to savour the live Jazz -which was the main reason for our visit. So, yes, a nice hotel to stay in- we'd be happy to return sometime.

Do you want to be close to the action but not so close that you aren't going to get a peaceful night's sleep after your adventures? Do you want to be near 24/7 food and drink (that's not room service) but not be able to smell it the minute you get into the lobby? Do you want a room that is easy for your UBER to find but also walking distance to the places you want to see? Do you want a nice, clean, spacious room with a comfy bed, place to do your make-up (that isn't a steamy bathroom), that already comes with a mini fridge and microwave in it for those late night snacks, without making a special request? Do you want to stay at a nice brand name hotel for less than a brand name price? Do you care that the staff is friendly, welcoming and makes you feel safe going to and from their hotel? If this sounds like what you want, stay here. I can't give it a higher recommendation than the fact that this hotel is my 1st choice to stay in the French Quarter. Why no pictures? It's looks like a hotel. There aren't crystal chandeliers or stunning art or breathtaking views... but it has all that I have listed which... how much time are you planning on spending... inside? Go out and play in this amazing city then retreat back here to recharge. I wouldn't lead you astray.

Arrived late at night, almost midnight. Check in was quick and easy. Room was very large with everything you could need - shampoo, shower gel, plenty of towels, safe etc.
The hotel was very well located in the French Quarter, close to all tourist attractions - well within walking distance of Bourborn Street, Jackson Square, the Mississippi river (and steamboat Natchez which "cruise"was very enjoyable).
We ate in the hotel restaurant twice and was impressed - good food, good service and good atmosphere.
Hotel is recommended.

My best friend and I brought our daughters to New Orleans to celebrate their graduation. We stayed 4 nights, and at almost $200 a night, we got less than we expected. We were on the 20th floor. The elevator only goes to 18, and then you have to get off and change to another elevator to get to 20. Inconvenient, but not a dealbreaker. After an evening of enjoying all that NOLA has to offer, we had planned to sleep in a little in the morning. On BOTH the first and second mornings, the alarm clock in the adjoining room went off at 6:00 am and continued to go off until we called the front desk to ask them to check on it. Apparently, the room was vacant, and the last occupant had left the alarm set. You’d think after the first morning of us having to call someone, the staff would’ve fixed it, but no. We had to call them again the second morning. None of us slept very well, as the beds are quite uncomfortable, and the air conditioner had a musty smell. It stayed extremely warm in the bathroom at all times. We wound up purchasing our own toilet tissue, as housekeeping only replaced it on Day 2. Thank goodness for the Walgreens on the corner. In 4 days’ time, the trashcan under the desk was never emptied. We wound up putting trash into Walgreens bags to try to keep the room somewhat tidy. As we are laying here trying to go to sleep so we can head home tomorrow morning, we once again had to call the front desk due to a domestic disturbance in the adjoining room. We specifically asked that security be sent up because there was a fight next door. There was yelling, profanity, verbal abuse, and what sounded like either a scuffle or items being thrown. We never heard security come up. The phone in the next room rang, and the noise level went down after that, but we could still hear the verbal abuse and threats. After it got loud again, one of us went to the front desk to complain. We made it clear that it was a domestic and that it was highly likely things has been thrown and/or someone had been hit. The person at the desk called the room again and told the occupants this was the 2nd complaint, and if they got another one, they would be asked to leave. No one ever went to check the room and see if anyone was hurt or in danger. This did not give us any type of assurance that things would be safe for the rest of the night.
Despite the negative aspects of our experience with the hotel, the valet service was probably the best we’ve ever experienced - very polite and helpful as well as quick. We heard little to no noise from the street, so outside of the shenanigans in the adjoining room, noise wasn’t an issue. The hot water and water pressure were good. The fridge in the room kept our drinks nice and cold. The hotel was clean, and the location was convenient. WE won’t stay here again on our next trip to NOLA.

Amazing service from arrival to departure. Arrived in the morning way ahead of schedule and we were offered our room as one was available which was amazing after and early start from the north east. Room had an awesome view of the Mississippi. Such a warm welcome from the check in staff and doorman. Hotel room was very clean and the sheets were crisp. Sure it is a little dated but really as long as it’s clean it’s fine. The towels were particularly fluffy which was nice. The pool was super clean, so warm which was lovely as it was quite cold and wet here this weekend. The gym looked good even though we didn’t use it. Great implementation of covid safety rules, everyone masked and areas sanitized. To me this hotel excelled at its service in all departments. Ty on the door offered us some great tips on places to eat and drink. This is the best central location in the French quarter, quiet too as it’s a street over from bourbon so no real noise. They will look after you here so looking forward to another visit.

As the other reviews mention it’s all about location location location. It’s on Royal street , up a block from Bourbon Street. Very walkable area. Parking is valet only and costs $40/day. Check in was easy and the staff gave lots of info and advice for a nice visit. The bell service was close by and when they heard our room number they went straight up so all our luggage was in the room by the time we got there - very impressive. The rooms are small and dated. The bathroom sink is tiny. The room and bathroom met our expectations of cleanliness and comfort. There was a self serve laundry on the 12 th floor which came in handy after we got caught in a rain storm and our clothes were all wet. All the staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. This is a comfortable place to stay while visiting New Orleans.

Have stayed at a few hotels in previous years. I was extremely shocked at how GREAT the accommodation and staff were in this location at an extremely reasonable rate too which I did not realize the parking was included for free. All the staff was courteous, friendly and attentive. Extremely comfortable bed and pillows

Hotel is not very clean. Bathrooms were not up to standards of a hotel, someone put their face on the window and mirrors left face prints and grease marks when we arrived and was NEVER cleaned our entire stay. Forgot to replenish soap and shampoo. I would not stay here again

I took my granddaughters to New Orleans and was worried about having a clean safe place with a indoor pool for us to stay while we were there. I read so many reviews both good and bad and decided to stay at the Wyndham. My family loved it. The moment we pulled our car in ppl were rt there to help with anything you need, the parking I felt was a little high until I realized that I was allowed to keep my car there until 4 the next day. We stayed on the 18th floor in a beautiful room. Everything was so nice and clean, all of the staff were very friendly, and there is a restaurant attach to the hotel with two of the most amazing young ladies that were very attentive. Ashley and her co-worker a beautiful younger African American (sorry we do not have her name) lady kept us all laughing and all the time keeping us very well served. These ladies deserve to be recognize. I went in there feeling sick and left laughing so hard I was no longer feeling 😷.
May I add the the coronavirus had just began in the New Orleans area I thank everyone at the Wyndham for keeping everything so clean while we stayed with them and keeping us safe. I 100% recommend the Wyndham to any and everyone that is thinking of staying in New Orleans. I can't wait to save the money to one day be able to stay with them again. DEFIANTLY 5 🌟!

The hotel is on Royal one block off Canal Street. For a person in average health it is easy walking distance to all the attractions and restaurants in the French Quarter. It is also easy walking distance to a streetcar stop that takes you very close to the World War 11 museum. It appears that everything is newly renovated and clean. The lobby is small for a hotel of this size and can get crowded at times. All of the employees were helpful and friendly. You must use your room key in the elevator to go up. That adds another level of security. It is one block from Bourbon Street and we felt safe walking even at night as there are always people around. This is not a fancy luxury hotel but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would stay there again. For those familiar with New Orleans, this property was once a Holiday Inn but after renovation in is much nicer now. Parking is $40 per night.

I couldn’t say. Best to contact the hotel
We had no problems... yes there is a lot of poverty, some hustling, and as an "older" person with new knees... the paths/sidewalks are pretty rough. Would not have gone out on my own at night. But did walk river front alone in the day time.... you will love it
They did not. They simply charged me the first day before arrival and the rest on check out.
