We loved this place. Was a little hesitant at first reading some of the reviews. I do not know what those people were complaining about. We arrived around 8:00pm and we had an envelope awaiting us with instructions to our room. Very clean and comfortable. Slept like a baby. Breakfast every morning was great and the coffee was great. Short...

It's worth it to do the research and find another place to stay. I had high hopes and seeing the decaying buildings didn't even deter me - lots of character. But the owner and workers (other than the cook and housekeeper) seemed as if they hated their job. Not friendly or helpful at all.

My fiance and I stayed here in the Spring of 2012 and had the time of our lives. We wanted to stay somewhere that was very NOLA (not some big chain hotel) and this is the place. Generous southern hospitality (Pat and the staff are wonderful! She even gave us a lift one day as she was heading out as...

First time to stay in a bed and breakfast in New Orleans. I reserved last minute since I wanted to spend New Years Eve in this fabulous city. My husband and I also celebrated our 21st anniversary. I loved our room so spacious on the third floor and I didn't mind going up the stairs since the building is an...

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Feels almost like home when staying here. The price was great and they serve fresh breakfast and coffee each morning. I give this place four stars and recommend it to everyone.

Emily B from Peoria pretty much said it all! Your experience here will be so much more interesting than staying at a big, generic hotel--and if you travel a lot, that can be a really refreshing change of pace. Pat, the proprietress, was wonderful and welcoming, and she took great care of us. The bed at Rathbone was comfortable, and...

To begin, it's important to remember this is a B&B and not a hotel. It's not flawless: the key pad is a little worn, and (gasp) the bottom of the doors are chipped too. The towels are like towels I have from home. That said, I definitely got what I paid for & then some. Responsive & helpful staff, tasty...

this place is a b+b that operates out of two locations on the Esplanade. arriving after hours and being dropped at mine by the taxi i then discovered i had to walk diagonally across the road to retrieve a key from a drop box [thank goodness i brought a torch] and then schlep all my bags back again. while my...

Wow, we can tell you on the website the exact address of where you check in, but we can't make you read it. If you had you would have known exactly where to go. As well it expains on the website that coffee pots are available on request for a small fee. We could have had one in your room...

We and our friends stayed for 5 days at the end of July and had a wonderful time, despite the flooding! Our first day in NOLA it poured and flooded, keeping us captive in the lobby. Pat wasn't discouraged and simply said lets have cocktails and wait it out! We enjoyed hanging out with the other guests and getting a...

We visited the Rathbone Mansion in July of this year for 8 days. We had a great time. Our room was rich with New Orleans style. We had a very comfortable bed and clean room. The pool was great, we spent at least three hours each day in the water, rain or shine. As far as the distance to the...

Well Hello there and thanks for the great review. You had a great vacation inspite of the deluge of rain that we have had since June, and now as you know a Hurricane named Issac has reeked havoc on us. You gave me a good laugh by saying I invited you to a funeral , it was New Orleans beloved...

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
