So, we knew what we were getting! The reviews are accurate. It's an old mansion, we stayed in the main house with the kitchen and eating area. Our room was #3 or 4 - I can't remember, but it was very basic and had an outdoor entrance, close to the pool We enjoyed it very much, but I would probably...

We arrived a couple days before the job started. Staff super friendly and accommodating. Great pool/hot tub in back. Ms Pat's Shrimp and grits were a joy. Great secured parking in back. Buffas Bar right up Esplanade was a gem with awesome live music. Quiet, yet comfortable in an older era vibe.

This place is cool. Pat is amazing. Breakfast really is delicious, you should go! The houses are giant, old and awesome. They're perfectly situated just a few blocks from the French Quarter and a straight shot to the fairgrounds for Jazz Fest. Cons: while I guess I can understand why you wouldn't invest a lot of money into updating a...

Always a great stay at the Rathbone. Pat, Jaycee, and Tanya are the best!!! It's like coming home every time we visit. It's like we're part of the family. The rooms are great, always clean, and the pool and hot tub are perfect. It's a block away from the French Quarter and they are building a new trolley line that...

Listed as a B&B in the historic district, has quite a bit of character . On the edge of the Treme. Trolley line is being extended on Rampart, just 2 blocks away. Mostly continental breakfast, serve yourself. We were there for a week, business and pleasure. Room was not serviced daily, depended on who was cleaning that day. Queen bed,...

My husband and I stayed there for the second time. Pat the manager treated us as though we were best of friends. Pat treated us and the other guest as though we were all family. If we wanted to we could hang out with her all day and have a wonderful time, she is fun to be around. We had...

If you want to stay in a part of history, this is the place. Room was always cleaned and bed made everyday. Staff were friendly, caring and knowledgeable about the area. Made off two mansions. The 1244 Esplanade Ave mansion is the main office, breakfast, pool and hot tub are located. There are also rooms there which was once a...

I visited New Orleans back in November (yes such a long time ago now but as I work in Hospitality, have been EXTREMELY busy at Spencer Beach Holiday park here in Christchurch New Zealand) Oops but it's not about me! I stayed at Rathbone Mansion while there for a wedding. My family and I such a great time and were...

Our family received a gift certificate from a silent charity auction we attended for a two night stay at this B&B. We called to inquire about availability and we were met with suspicion and accusation. They managers did not remember donating any gift certificates and they were going to "investigate" the truth before letting us know of their availability. The...

Rathbone Mansions has stolen my heart! I met up here with old school friends; in the last week of November 2015. I checked in to Rathbone and was looked after right from the get go! You know when you feel like you have to be on your best behavior and there's the 'them and us' feeling between the hosts and...

Neighbourhood Profile
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
