Don't stay in this hotel if you don't want your trip to be a disaster. BYW, not every room has wifi, guess you'll know if you're lucky or not. Travelling for sightseeing, but this hotel turned my dream into a nightmare

The very best things about the Empress: Location, staff, clean rooms and wifi, free parking. Location was close to everything and we never had to take our car. Its a lovely walk to the French Quarter and Frenchman Street. The balcony at the hotel is very nice to have a cup of coffee in the morning. I can recommend staying...

12/31/16 My husband and I are on a cross country road trip from Florida to Los Angeles. We decided to stay 2 days in New Orleans. With 2 dogs in tow we needed a relatively cheap place that doesn't charge a pet deposit. My husband found The Empress Hotel and booked us two nights. We arrived on December 29th, checked...

I loved my stay at the Empress. The clerk was polite upon arrival. She let us look at our room prior to staying and took her time to show us around. It's a quiet , quaint spot in the Treme. It was very close to all the attraction of the French Quarter without paying outlandish amounts of money. We brought...

First of all when visiting New Orleans I wanted to make sure I had enough extra money to do all of the exciting things there are. That meant trying to save on hotel and parking and the empress did just that. I was able to stay here and save money as that they did offer the best deal in town...

We were sailing out of New Orleans and looking for a reasonable accommodations, as the city was completely booked. My friend booked this place as a "back up" but this became primary. I travel quite a bit for both personal and pleasure and I have NEVER stayed in such a horrible hotel! I'll just make a list: The Good: -hotel...

I went during peak season - Halloween, Voodoo festival . At the time of booking I wasn't really aware of either festivities and didn't know that was the reason most hotels were 250+ per night !! Wouldn't recommend walking to and from after dark. It cost about $5 USD to get an uber into town so I didn't mind that....

This is not a family friendly hotel, so don't bring children to stay here. The hotel is falling apart. When Hotel Impossible was here, they must have only remodeled a couple of rooms and mine wasn't one of them. The neighborhood is a little sketchy too. That being said, my bed had clean sheets and it was comfortable. My friend...

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

“Just never stay here; there ARE no good rooms.”
  • Not one shelf to put anything on. No hooks to hang anything up.
  • No surfaces to put anything on except the chair.
  • This speaks for itself. Disgusting.
  • The TV was so tiny, you couldn't see it from the bed, which was the only place to be.
  • Where the bed bugs live. Horrible, horrible.
