My husband and I really enjoyed staying here when we visited. I had stayed in the Marigny before, so I knew a little bit of the area. The walk isn't too bad to the French Quarter, the nearby eateries are super good, and Glenn and Darryl are very friendly and easy going. We stayed in the front room, which was...

Thanks Darrell and Glenn for the cozy refuge from the NO craziness. Everything you need is a quick walk-music, food, streetcar. We really enjoyed the hot tub after walking around all day. Thanks to Glenn's tip about the spring special, we had such a nice lunch at Antoines. Three courses for $20.15 and 25 cent martinis! Can we come back???

Great stay! Owners were great, rooms Were well taken care of us, 4 of us stayed in the downstairs large room which separates. Perfect for us (two couples). Location was great, do not worry about safety. Bourbon street 10x more of a "worry" than this street. Same as any big city, be safe at night...maybe take a cab and don't...

We've stayed here both times we went to New Orelans, and can't think of a better place. The hosts are wonderful and have great suggestions for what to see and do in the city. The location is perfect, close enough to everything, but quiet as well. We'll plan on staying here everytime we visit NOLA.

I have to say that this was a nice home away from home. My wife and I found this place by chance and it was the best place that we have ever stayed while visiting New Orleans. We've always stayed in Hotels while visiting New Orleans so this was a first for us. It was a nice change of pace...

We stayed in three different places in our two week trip to NOLA and when we walked into our room at the Sunburst Inn all we could think was "Oh shoot! We should have stayed here the whole time!" It was absolutely lovely. There was not a thing that Darrell and Glenn hadn't thought of. It was just so well...

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sunburst Inn. After walking through the French Quarter at night, I understood why anyone who wishes to sleep should not stay in the Quarter. The Sunburst Inn is far enough away to be quiet, but not too far to be easily walkable. It's in a decent neighborhood, and we (as 2 women...

I can't think of one negative thing to say about this charming inn and it's very accommodating owners. The location is perfect. Such an easy walk to Frenchmen St but far enough away to be peaceful. We're not young but still found the walk to the Quarter to be very doable as well. We loved the music and vibe of...

This was our first visit to NOLA and it more than likely will not be our last. So I'm a bit hesitant about sharing this review because I would hate for it to be all booked up when we return. We travel quite a bit and prefer to stay in guest houses/B&B's and private apartments over the hotel/ resorts. The...

The Sunburst Inn was an ideal place to stay. It was an easy walk to the Quarter but the perfect distance away from it, tucked into a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. We (two females) walked to Frenchmen and the Quarter every day and night with ease and felt safe. The inn was very clean and the room was perfect. The mattress...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The house is a Victorian style built in 1905 and has all the original floors and chandeliers with 12 foot ceilings. We are just 5 blocks for the French Quarter and 3 blocks from the famous Frenchman St. where there is live music and great dining. The Street Car line that travels along the river is 5 blocks away and there are also great little cafes on the Conners from our place. The Marigny neighborhood was vote a top ten place to live in 2010 by the ADA. We like to say that we are far enough but close enough to the madness of the Quarter. ... more   less
