My partner and I stayed at the Coulon Guest House while participating in the festivities celebrating the music of New Orleans' Boswell Sisters. The Guest House sits in a lush garden behind one of New Orleans' best preserved historic homes. We hardly had time to enjoy the immaculate first floor living/dining area or the peaceful garden (but will plan to...

I loved the idea of staying in a guest house that had this history of being former slave quarters/kitchen. When we arrived, I loved everything else about the accommodations as well. The guest house was beautifully decorated, scrupulously clean, charming, and private. We only met one of the owners, Stephen, and he bent over backwards to ensure we were comfortable...

A friend and I spent two nights in the Pierre Coulon Guest House, and wished we'd been able to linger a few more days. The guesthouse was charming, spotlessly clean, and stocked with everything we could have wanted. It was nice to each have our own bedroom. Both bedrooms overlook a beautiful garden which is often visited by the elegant...

Charming, comfortable, historic cottage in a neighborhood with a lot of character. Very spacious & well thought out. We felt comfortable walking the 10 minute distance home from the Quarter after dark. Frenchman's Street and a variety of clubs with music are 5 minutes away. We didn't have time to check out as many of the local restaurants as we...

Pierre Coulon Guest House is a quaint, quiet cottage tucked away in a charming neighbourhood only a few blocks from the French Quarter. We stayed here for five nights in November, and especially enjoyed being able to sit in the courtyard jungle under the banana trees. And our hosts -- Rich and Stephen are wonderful. Guests have their own entrance...

Spent two nights in this unique guesthouse, run by Stephan and Rich and their nice little cat. I would think the guesthouse itself was servants quarters at one point, but they have redone it into a very comfortable retreat from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans and the French Quarter. The guesthouse is separate and across the small but...

My husband and I had a wonderful time. The location is close to the downtown area, but the house is very quiet. The accommodations were comfortable and clean. In hotel rooms I start cleaning everything with Clorox wipes. I did not feel the need to clean this location. We felt right at home and would stay at the Pierre Coulon...

It's just what everybody says--charming setting, spacious, friendly hosts, well stocked. You have the advantage of a quiet neighborhood, the Fauborg Marigny, just a five-minute walk away from the French Quarter. And there are wonderful cafes just a block away.

We were thrilled with this place! Lots of space (2 stories!), all the needed amenities plus a great breakfast/snack selection...we tried to not dig in too much but it was nice if you were hungry after a day on the town. We bought simple breakfast/dinner to make and enjoy in the peaceful courtyard, leaving us a budget to enjoy the...

The location is convenient to everything yet quiet and private. The hosts Steve and Rich are just wonderful - considerate and friendly. I want to give this lovely place the high marks it deserves. But selfishly, I'd like to keep it secret so we'll never have to go elsewhere when in New Orleans.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
