Went for my parents' 50th anniversary, and my mom really wanted to stay there. At this point, I really don't know why... Rooms are small, and therefore are sparsely furnished. The bathroom is small - and I only shower, so no problem that there was no bathtub. Not as clean as I would have liked either. Comes with continental breakfast...

Nice room, very European (square, spare and clean). Shalon at the front desk was great. Breakfast was ok. Location is excellent - right on the St. Charles trolley line and less than a mile from the French Quarter. Parking is hideously expensive so be warned. Don't worry about the homeless guys at the Lee Monument - they are friendly and...

Travelling with my mother. We booked a room with 2 beds but on arrival there was only a double available. Small room, shabby, rusty bathroom fittings, walls and fittings obviously hastily renovated with emulsion paint. On the plus side a good comfortable bed and central location, quiet well insulated with no street noise. More minimalistic than modern!!! Pictures of rooms...

We arrived and immediately felt welcomed by Shalon who checked us in, she was very helpful in getting us settled in! We stayed for six nights and found this centralized location between the garden district and the French Quarter to work well for us. After visiting New Orleans at least six prior times we've discovered there is more to see...

Poor light in the rooms. View from the dining room was nice, but food was awful. The waffle mixture plopped out, then water on top. Bread was stale. Fruit was squishy and bruised. Beds were satisfactory. Too expensive. The building is old, which is okay, but it certainly does not live up to its name of "modern".

We stayed 4 nights in between Christmas and New Year. Rooms are good sized with a comfortable bed and a coffee maker. Staff are helpful, rooms are priced very well and hotel is located in a central location with easy access to the French Quarter and Garden District via streetcar. Felt safe enough to walk around area attractions.

We stayed one night prior to a cruise out of NOLA and the Modern suited our needs. The price was right compared to other places, the room was clean, good shower etc. The hotel itself is in transition. The hallway rugs have seen way better days so the room was a pleasant surprise. Continental breakfast was basic and good. On...

Stayed for a convention and a few days for leisure. Has all the basics for a comfy stay. Hot clean shower, desk, chair, clean bed, ironing supplies, breakfast, near a street car stop. Good price if booked in advance. A mile from convention center and maybe two from french quarter. Ubers are cheap too. Nice stay overall.

I like the Modern Hotel, it is a former YMCA that was transformed into a boutique hotel in the left ventricle of Lee Circle. I learned the hotel was sold to the Parent Group of Holiday Inn, and will be undergoing renovations. I still spend at least one night here every visit to NOLA. The bad news they let Bellocq...

Dear skipf698, Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment regarding our closure of Bellocq. I am very happy to share that we will be doing a property-wide renovation and will then be branded as a Holiday Inn Express. We hope you choose to stay with us again next time you...

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
