This is the third hotel I've stayed in while visiting New Orleans, and my first outside of the French Quarter. I do love, and I mean love, the French Quarter and the old world charm of the hotels in that part of the city. I booked the Hotel Modern because I won through bidding on Priceline last minute when I...

The room was very small and had a tiny tv. They had very nice shampoo and soap which was very nice touch. The only bar was overpriced and had bad trendy food. You also have to pay to park. It was located downtown not far from ports.

I think part of my shock is that it wasn't cheap the 3 nights I stayed there. But the room was reminiscent of various youth hostels I've stayed at back in the day. It could be that we had the worst room in the whole place as availability was limited during a really busy NYE weekend. Quick hits: - The...

Great location. Great staff. Excellent rooms and bed. We were greeted and given a brief rundown of the hotel and amenities. Offered vouchers for a welcome cocktail later. Carl gave us the run down of places to go. Things to do and restaurant suggestions that did not disappoint. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy everything was to get to...

Stopped here for a night on way to a honeymoon cruise. We booked through a third party and the hotel was excellent. You could tell it had seen a few years, but the bed and in room stuff was all new, despite the building and insides seeming old. It's also definitely a boutique hotel. The hotel was so accommodating to...

My Son and I stayed at the Modern as part of a 3500+ mile road trip after Christmas. I was looking at many other hotels in the area when I discovered the WWII museum which led me to the Modern right down the street. The hotel looked very nice on their website and they had a package including tickets to...

Enjoyed my stay. Room was pleasant, clean, well maintained, comfortable and spacious. Was able to sleep very well, bed was very comfortable and room was very quiet. Good wifi, heating worked very well. Enjoyed big flat screen tv and safety deposit box. Good location for museums and garden district, can walk to French Quarter. I would stay again at this...

Very shocked of the negative ratings! You definitely have to give this amazing hotel a shot. Allow me to give you my great experiences! I spent New Year's weekend at this hotel. This was the 2nd time I've stayed at this hotel. Once again, I am blown away at how great this hotel is! A 3 1/2 star hotel that...

We chose this hotel even though it's further away because of the price and it looked like a cute boutique hotel. Note that the address will take you to a side street, so be sure to navigate to Lee Circle to get to the front of the hotel. This caused frustration with one way streets. The check in process felt...

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
