We called Olde Town Inn and booked a last minute room for a weekend of festivities. Jasmine was super helpful answering all my questions on the phone, and got us exactly what we needed very affordably. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially Britanny and Alicia. We never got up for breakfast, but I appreciated it being there in case I wanted it.

I’ve read these reviews, and I’m not claiming this place is the Ritz. But we found it clean and serviceable. I don’t come to New Orleans for a sanitized experience, and staying at Olde Town I felt at one with the city. Colorful, Inviting, Well-loved.

We’ll be back.

Writing this review is not easy! We booked a room because of the location of this hotel and the impression from its pics and reviews on booking.com. The front desk and the first impression of the appearance was like expected. But when we entered the room we were shocked. The room interior was very meager. The room had no real window, just a tiny light shaft, no trash can in the room, most importantly the bad linen was dirty and the only mirror - the one in the bath room - was that dirty that it didn't clearly reflect your mirror. For this reason, we asked for another room without succes what made us cancelling the booking. The staff was very cooperative and the management refunded all the money we already had been charged. For this reason it were not fair to devalue the hotel under 3*.

Cute and quaint. Rooms were clean and average. Staff not that friendly. Breakfast was outside in the high 40's, not much to offer. Not in walking distance to much. Parking was on street or find a pay place.

Response from OldeTownInn1, Manager at Olde Town Inn
Responded Jan 12, 2020
Thanks for staying with us. But perhaps you have never been exposed to an urban environment...we are 5 blocks to the entertainment activities on the ever popular Frenchmen Street, and in 3 more blocks you are into the World Famous French Quarter! We are less than 2 blocks from 4 places to eat, 6 bars and a Theater! A full service grocery store is right across the street. We advertise a continental breakfast, not a FULL breakfast. js

If you stay here, chances are that you will survive but I would never stay here again unless it were the only place where I could find a room, after staying here three separate visits. The place operates on the theme of whatever is good enough to nearly pass as acceptable (by some standard) room condition, gets by. Be aware this place is not staffed as a regular hotel, so don't plan on arriving late at night because chances are there won't be anyone there to check you in. For one of my visits, when I arrived the lobby person told me to try to keep my taxi from leaving because the room I was booked in was AT ANOTHER LOCATION on Kerlerec Street, which is about half a mile from the the Olde Town Inn. Do you really want to risk staying at such a place?

I've stayed in some dingy hotels in my day, and this wins gold in the Olympics of the dingiest. First, after my flight was delayed I called ahead to ask the front desk if they could pass along keys to my friends who would arrive earlier than me. They agreed, and I gave them their names. When they arrived, the front desk refused to give them keys. After arriving myself, I got my house key, which was in a shared lockbox with the same combo for any other guests to access, and then got in.

The "non-smoking room" reeked of cigarettes and sadness, and I noticed the batteries were taken out of the smoke detectors or ripped off altogether, in flagrant violation of local building codes. The room had no built-in heating and the second room had an electric heater that barely kept it above 50F, and a draft could be felt all throughout it. The bathroom didn't have soap, which is a first for any hotel stay I've been in.

When another of my friends checked in, they had an asthma attack from the smoke smell and we had to leave. The hotel could not be contacted for a refund. Also there was an opossum in the backyard but that was the only highlight of the stay. Not coming back.

I was staying here during the week as part of a new job! Left several messages with the front desk for the Manager to call, trying to get weekly or monthly rates. No calls. Fixed a few things in the rooms I had stayed in, toilet paper had no spring holder, got a new one. Shower head leaked, I fixed with new teflon tape. But recently, I checked in and had no TV when I got to the room. Front desk never said anything. Went back to front desk - oh yeah, they are fixing now! Had dinner and came back, no TV. Told they will fix in the morning. No TV when I woke up. No hot water in shower! Had hot water in sink but the shower cartridge must be bad as it would get warm but then cold if moved in either direction. But I survived!
Just to check, I called mid-morning, still no TV, but they are working on it! So at noon, I stopped by, no TV. Went to the front desk and Manager was on duty, the one that won't return a call. She claims she never got any of the 3-4 messages I hand wrote! My fault it seems!
Still no TV, but working on it! I suggested I'll check out now and if you get the TV working, I'll check back in. I just don;t want to sit in a hotel with no access. She was very angry, but not my issue!
The room also had a big stain (looked like motor oil) on carpet, the HVAC looked like someone smashed with a bat, Needed to reach in to operate controls. Scary place! Cheap but still not worth it!!!!

I booked a couple nights here when visiting family for Jazz fest. The staff was so helpful and friendly that 3 of my friends booked rooms for that week and I extended my stay through the remainder of the month. I travel alone and the staff made me feel safe and always helped with any request.

I was quite excited for this room, but was let down as soon as we showed up. The pictures looked great some of the reviews were promising. As soon as we got there the first door we needed to enter was wide open, when we walked in the room you could see large stains on the pillow cases, top sheet, and towels were just thrown in the room as if the cleaning hadn’t been finished. The walls were marked with dirty hand prints streaking every surface. Mold was growing in every section of the bathroom and it appeared that the walls were starting to disintegrate and crumble to the floor. The only good thing about this place was the kind staff, although they seemed a bit stressed they were very helpful and kind. It was not worth the money I had spent on it and wish I could go back and avoid that whole situation.

Appreciate the confrontable and clean stay we experienced. We have not been back in over a year but wow the Courtyard looks great and the new flooring. lighting and cabinet in our bathroom, nice touch. Very pleased with our rate and the ease of booking through your website. We all know the property is dated, but the value of room cost and steps away from the French Quarter, or from our favorite bar the Phoenix. the value cant be beat. Thank you Tony and Lee from Biloxi

They have changed the property name to Historic Mardi Gras Inn, there is no longer a breakfast provided as some older Sites indicate.

Only reasons I'm giving it at least a score of 2, because we have stayed at this hotel before, years ago and it was cute. They are pet friendly so that is important to some people. I was given a room with a balcony. They have free parking across the street and street parking.

The staff is polite but they really don't go above and beyond. I arrived we were given our key + code and she just told me the room was behind the building we were in. I couldn't find the room because there are no numbers on the main entrances that are gated and have code. No big deal, I went back and asked and she told me which one it was.

Then we walked in to the room, it was old, and it smelled old and it was not really clean. It was like they just did a superficial cleaning. The bathroom seat was holding on by one screw nut and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned or changed in a while. My kid took off his shoes (before I could stop him) and just like that his feet were black with how dirty the floor was.

I needed to sign on to WIFI for work and couldn't. I went to ask the staff and they told me one of the numbers was a letter. Still didn't work, and had to go ask again, he finally recited it to me and that chicken scratch was off, because the numbers looked like letters and vice versa. TYPE IT!!!

They seem to have long term guests, it doesn't have to mean a bad thing, except that one in particular was sketchy and seemed to have visitors late, and you could hear all the commotion at that time of night. All this and on a week night.

Last thing was when I went to check out early, the office was closed. They are now only open from 9-6. This is a hotel not an office building. What if you had to check in after 6? So, I left the key in the mail slot, and hoped for the best, even though I wanted a receipt.

I'm glad we were only there for one night. I don't know if I got lucky in the past but I can't recommend this hotel any more, especially for those traveling with families. The first time I stayed there it looked more like the cute photos they have.

Good afternoon, yes it is. We have several groups that stay here with us weekly and they walk to everything. Just stay on the main streets that are well lit and you will be just fine. We will have a area map and inform you of the streets, and of course if you all are drinking and prefer to take a taxi back to the hotel it will be no more then about 8 dollars.
