Kimpton Hotel Fontenot captivates guests with its lively atmosphere, often attributed to live music and chic decor, and its location is celebrated for its convenience to attractions yet peaceful ambiance. The staff's warm and attentive service receives accolades, although some guests encounter sporadic housekeeping lapses. Rooms are generally lauded for their space and comfort, but cleanliness and noise occasionally mar the experience. While the hotel's amenities and pet-friendly approach are well-regarded, the value proposition is sometimes questioned due to extra charges and amenity restrictions.

Beautiful hotel with lovely staff that were so friendly. Best check in experience EVER with Machiel. She reviewed the major festivals that were happening and answered all of our questions. The rooms have really nice furniture and bedding. The Peacock bar is a luxurious and the perfect last stop to an evening with unique craft cocktails. Can’t wait to return.

IHG Platinum Elite rewards members (next from the top tier) decided on a quick NOLA pop in. Anthony the front desk clerk was exceptional, being pulled in so many directions and yet always  attentive and friendly. We gently requested a quiet room, as 3 small wedding parties were staying on the property.

.

We had a One bedroom spa suite, we took advantage of the wonderful soaking tub. The room was spotless and dust free, so upon departure we left a $10 tip and thank you note.

.

The evening complimentary happy hour was delicious and so welcoming; choice of red or white, as well as a signature cocktail, this time with white rum and green tea.

.

We saw the comfortable and well appointed  lounge on Saturday night as we departed on foot for the Quarter, but did not partake.

.

A 15 min leisurely walk to Bourbon, and 10 to the art gallery street, we felt safe at 10pm, spouse’s together. Would not walk alone at this hour.  Staying in the warehouse district, one is guaranteed proximity without a sleepless night.

.

Fontenot is a must stay.

This hotel went thru a major renovation and removed the kitchenettes. Breakfast was also eliminated. The new room was nice with a fridge and a microwave. However, housekeeping lacked and never showed up one day and no towels or wash cloths another day. I discussed this with the manager and she compensated me with a refund on 50% of the points I used. The hotel is in a great location with the casino only a short walk away.

Kimpton’s hotel Fontenot made me feel like buying all of their decor ideas from restoration hardware. My car was valet parked, some distance away from the hotel’s front entrance and the valet attendant Josh Wing who was such a kindred spirit went out of his way to go above and beyond for us, even though he was very busy. My advice ( do as I say not as I did) is to always phone down from your room at least 20 minutes before you want your car, and take plenty of $1 bills or cash before you’re off and on your way.

The hotel and staff were very nice, and the location was great but I was extremely disappointed about the situation with the Peacock room. One of the main reasons I picked the hotel over the several (less expensive) options in the area was to visit the Peacock room. Unfortunately, it was closed for a private event on Friday and full Saturday evening, as it was when I tried to get brunch Sunday morning as a last ditch effort to try it out and was told they were full for an hour. Pretty disappointing (especially since it didn’t look full and I’m solo so would have expected they could have squeezed me in as a hotel guest). So if you’re going for the Peacock room, I’d suggest staying elsewhere and making a rez since being a guest did nothing to help me get a table.

We are thrilled to hear you had a great stay in the hotel and our apologies for your disappointment in Peacock. That space is in high demand; private events are few and far between and usually alter hours vs closing entirely. That being said, even when there is not a private event and as you mentioned, that space does tend to fill up and we highly encourage making reservations so we can guarantee you will be able to truly enjoy that space. We hope you will return again and should you, please let us know so we can arrange a seating for you. Thank you for staying and for your feedback.

Our room was not as clean as previous reviewers had mentioned; the velvet benches in the room were noticeably stained/dirty - which can easily be cleaned with a handheld stain remover vacuum, and the bathroom lacked attention to detail. We actually asked to switch to another room after the first room had crumbs, and a dirty bathroom. The second room already looked tired too. This could be due to allowing pets - down our hall another guest was running his 3 dogs up and down the hall. Fine with me, but I could imagine this adding wear and tear and dirtiness.

I’m a stickler for an immaculately clean room and while this is a newer hotel(less than 2 years old!) the cleanest areas were the Peacock Room, Gym, and Lobby.

I recommend a deeper clean and more attention to detail moving forward or this new establishment will lose credibility quickly.

I wanted to love it and give it 5 stars, but it’s a 3/5.

With my wife heading to NOLA for the ISTE Conference, I joined her for the first day of her trip and then headed back home after 1 night while she stayed for the conference.

We were looking for an elegant place priced right that was within walking distance of the conference center as well as local attractions such as the French Quarter and the water front. I saw the reviews of the Fontenot and it exuded a boutique type of charm.

The Fontenot did not disapoint! The friendly staff were extremely professinal and helpful. Due to the weather we actually arrived at the hotel before check-in time to find that although the room was not ready, they were happy to hold on to our baggage and pre check us in. This allowed us the flexibility to see some of the local sights and get informed by phone when the room was ready.

The room itself as well as the hotel in general has a very modern and tasteful feel. Delicious complementary bathrobes and a stellar view along with luxurious toiletries made the stay a most enjoyable one. The staff also accommodated us with a few requested extras like a small hot water heater.

We would definitely stay again if we found ourselves in NOLA in the future!

I booked this hotel for my daughter’s 15th birthday trip to NOLA and from the moment we arrived I loved everything about this hotel-great location, beautiful décor and top tier service. Ray took excellent care of us; situating our bags, offering amazing suggestions of restaurants and the most scenic walking routes to get where we were headed. Our room was spotless and well appointed with everything we needed and whatever we didn’t have the front desk quickly had sent up. The Peacock Room is gorgeous, I had to take pics there. As a matter of fact, this whole hotel is perfect for photos! I love how close we were to everything a quick 10-minute walk had us in the mix of great shopping, good food and we even saw a TV show being filmed. Thank you, Ray, and the entire Kimpton staff for making our stay so enjoyable I will definitely be back!

If you are looking for a nice pet friendly hotel this is not it. Don’t waste your money on the pet package since they do not actually honor it any way. If your dog barks at all and is heard by hotel staff they threaten to kick you out. The cleaning staff will send you horrible messages about your dog being in the room even if you hang the do not disturb sign on your door. Don’t waste a dime on this joke of a pet friendly hotel. There’s plenty of other hotels in town that would love your business and treat you good.

Anjanette16, Thank you for sharing your experience with us and our viewers. As we have had a couple of other communications, we have already adjusted your folio for the disappointment in your pet package. Our pet policy is lax but when it disturbs others, we unfortunately need to ensure we reduce that inconvenience to others just as we would any other noise complaint. We appreciate your business and again our apologies for your disappointment.

It is a beautiful hotel. When we arrived there was a man with his back to us speaking to a woman , a guest, I assumed. So, we just stood there while he ignored us. He was curt and rather rude when he did check us in. Our flight had arrived late and we were hungry. I had seen photos of the Peacock Room and was looking forward to dining there. His answer was, "They're about to close and won't be open on Monday or Tuesday either". It was an hour before closing. The correct answer should have been, "why don't you folks, drop your bags off you rooms and I'll make sure you can have something to eat" We decided to that on our own. Upon seeing us in the lobby going into the restaurant he turns his head away from us. The food was fabulous our waitress was adorable. We stayed for 6 nights. His rudeness and lack of acknowledgment continued. We were never able to the restaurant again because apparently It was completely booked the week before. I think I should have been told that. The rest of the staff was lovely. I assumed my room would be cleaned everyday but it was not.I realize this is a common practice these days but, when I asked , they cleaned. I asked for more of plastic cups that are wrapped because the glasses were obviously not washed. I was given 2 coffee cups from the coffee shop. The happy hour was somewhat of a secret and lasted exactly 60 minutes with not much happiness from the servers or seats for guests. I had requested that another member of our group be placed on the same floor as us since she was traveling alone and a Senior Citizen. I reminded him upon registration and I was told they are completely booked and he would have to look into it. Never happened. I was trying to download photos and the internet was not working. I called the desk and was told that this happens with Macs sometimes and given a number to call? We have been to many Kimpton Hotels and always enjoy our stays and the friendliness of the staff. This one was a disappointment. We really felt unimportant for 6 nights. I realize Jazz fest brings in a lot of famous people etc. But, I'm a person and a loyal customer. I will not be returning to this one.

Hi Saphie, this is really disappointing to hear. We pride ourselves are providing a wonderful experience and our desk is usually the headliner. While you note some highs in your stay, we will certainly use the feedback to coach that associate and please know this is not the experience standard we have for our hotel; busy or not, we are here to make our guests comfortable and it seems we missed that opportunity with this stay. We know that must have been frustrating at check in and started your stay off on the wrong foot as well as the reminder during your further interactions. We will also share your feedback with our housekeeping team as stay over service should be automatic unless a Do Not Disturb is present. We would like you to give us another chance, and I would like to invite you back to show you this stay was an exception. Please email me directly at Dixie.Krauss@hotelfontenot.com so I can assist further.

Most restaurants with a patio or sidewalk seating allow your pup to dine. Lucy's and the Rusty Nail allow your pup inside. You can find a list of those at BringFido that can help navigate your choices depending on your plans.
