The location is fantastic and is a mid-budget B&B. We drove and parked our car right in front of their place and kept it there the whole time. One mile one way and you get City Park and other way is the French Quarter (a...More

You two fit right in here. You are exactly the kind of New Orleans visitors we had in mind when we opened for business: curious and enthusiastic to explore this wonderful city we call home. That was four quick nights.
New Orleans will keep you...More
My husband & I chose New Orleans to honeymoon & we wanted a unique experience. La Belle Esplanade did not disappoint! Our stay was perfect - Matthew & Melanie were such gracious hosts, as well as very knowledgable about anything & everything New Orleans. All...More

People write, or occasionally call, prior to making a reservation with us to determine if we are as unique as we appear to be. La Belle Esplanade is an inn that runs on personality. It is unlike any other hotel. Our website doesn't lie. Our...More
One of the most memorable places we have ever stayed in any city. So much character, personality, and style. Exactly what we were looking for for our stay in New Orleans. Little imperfections and quirks here and there made it better. Nice neighborhood for walks...More

You only visited New Orleans for two nights, taking advantage of another trip to add this excursion onto your itinerary. Normally, I recommend 4-5 nights (or more) to get a real feel for New Orleans. It's not like other cities. It takes time to settle...More
We arrived later than expected and Matthew was waiting for us. From the get go both he and Melanie gave us a warm welcome and gave us lots of tips and inside information on where to visit in New Orleans. Breakfast was a feast every...More

We wish more Dutch people would stay with us. It was a real pleasure to share our part of New Orleans with you. You certainly approached everything with the right attitude. When you approach the city with open eyes and open ears, and an open...More
Words are inadequate to describe the feeling of La Belle Esplanade and the city of New Orleans as a whole. Then again, no one could ever describe the city of New Orleans “as a whole” because there are entirely too many breathtaking sights (and sites)...More

That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods
and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

Each room does have a small television with basic cable. This being New Orleans and there is so much to do that very, very few people use the televisions. When they break, we won't be replacing them, but with so little wear and tear, that's going to be a long ways off. We do have a good wi-fi signal.

Like the previous responses, we did not have a car. We always walked, but that is something we enjoy doing. We used a cab if it was late in the evening (after midnight). Parking is a pain around the city and it is easier to use public transportation. If you plan on lots of day trips then a car would be good and parking at the inn is easy. Enjoy!
