Staying at MuMurphy's Bed and Breakfast was absolutely wonderful! From the wonderful hospitality of Maggie to the exquisite rooms, we had just a wonderful, relaxing time! We really enjoyed the greatly acclaimed porch therapy and sipping the cocktail of our choice as the rest of the world went by. Nothing could be better than sipping hot coffee and reading the...

I had only a brief, three night stay in New Orleans, but Maggie has made it seem like a second home. The house is beautiful and the rooms were beyond luxury. Maggie took the time to show me around the area when I arrived and her wonderful family were very welcoming and helpful. The house isn't far from any of...

There's nothing cliche' about Maggie and her beautiful home. My wife, daughter #2, and myself enjoyed a very relaxing week at McMurphy's. Maggie and family (and Allie) take you into their home and make you feel as if you belong there. Beautiful, comfortable rooms, delicious home-made breakfasts and snacks, and all the charm and grace of Old New Orleans. Maggie,...

I sat at my computer in San Diego, looking for some place to stay in New Orleans for a conference that my wife was to attend. When I checked out Maggie's Web site, I had this feeling - this might be the place! I called her, and that sealed the deal. She was warm and friendly and seemed genuinely glad...

We spent 5 wonderful days at McMurphy's and enjoyed every minute in this very inviting home of Maggie and Pat. We were pampered with a real breakfast every morning and evenings on their lovely tropical porch were filled with relaxing conversation over a glass of wine and appetizers. It is very rare to find a comfortable lodging that makes each...

We had such a great time at McMurphy's. We have two boys ages 6 and 8 and were thrilled to find a B&B that would take the four of us. Maggie spoiled all of us from her yummy breakfasts, her expert advice on Mardi Gras and the warm and inviting guests who all come back regularly. I'd never been to...

My wife and I recently visited New Orleans for the 1st time and stayed at McMurphy's B & B. WOW. For seven wonderful days we felt as if we were part of the family. Maggie, our hostess, was charming. Her recommendations for dining were right on the money. Maggie prepared our itinerary for the week and made all our tour...

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
