The best thing about royal barracks is the relatively close proximity of frenchmans st where the real jazz of new Orleans is played. The bunk bed room is tiny. One must sit sideways on the toilet if over 5 ft tall. Hot water comes in dribble at the sink. There is no safety rail to prevent falling out of the...

My husband and I have been staying here for a few years now and we absolutely LOVE it. This year, we have brought our kids with us and could not ask for a more inviting and charming place for our family. Kelly and Sugah 'B knock it out of the park, every time! With amazing NOLA hospitality - we always...

Ok, I hesitate to write a review strictly because this is now my favorite place to stay in the French Quarter, and I'd like to be able to get a reservation on the fly the next time I'm in NoLa. In other words, the more people who know about this place, the harder it will be to get in, darn...

RBGH is located in the quiet, more residential part of the French Quarter, while still being within walking distance of the insanity of Bourbon and the live music of Frenchmen. My husband and I stayed in The Suite along with a friend. It was absolutely charming, like stepping back in time. There was just enough space to not feel cramped....

This was my second visit to the Barracks and certainly won't be my last. Kelly and Sugah B are excellent hostesses. I've only stayed in the suite, but the other rooms look nice too! So close to walk to the market and anywhere else in the quarter. I feel so perfectly at home here!

Fabulous guest house, great location. Kelly couldn't have been more welcoming as we arrived. In the French Quarter not far from everything. Queen bed, microwave, refrigerator, cold AC and ceiling fan. Great accommodations. Looking forward to coming back soon. Thanks!

We recently spent 2 nights in the Blue Room at RBGH. Kelly is a wonderful host, welcoming guests like old friends with a glass of wine on the stoop. As other guests have reviewed, this is a quiet guesthouse within walking distance to everything in NO. It's not a sterile, hotel environment and the Blue Room was quite small so...

It is located SO CLOSE to all the main attractions, but you can get the quiet rooms, even though you are just a block from all the actions! Can't say the same thing for the guesthouses located ON the main streets....feel bad for them since the area is not allowed to install double paned windows (Historical buildings). Kelly and Sugah...

This place is nothing less than amazing, beautiful rooms decorated with style. Old building with charm, and the location is perfect, close to everything and in the quiet area of the french quarter. The host Kelly is simply fantastic, arranging, advicing for all you want to experience in New orleans - and every afternoon at 5pm there is happy hour...

This was the second time staying at the Royal Barracks. Love it. Stayed in the Blue Room. Cool and funky as always! Also, the street is quiet. The hostess/manager is very friendly and great to talk to. Will stay here again. I love funky, quirky, quiet, and comfortable.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
