Our stay was fantastic. At arrival, the Henry Howard hotel unexpectedly upgraded us to a suite because of our honeymoon. When we got to our room we found a hand-written congratulations letter left on the bed. Fresh chocolate chip cookies were left in our room every evening, as well as daily turn down service. Amazing stay with super thoughtful staff!

We had a large group celebrating a birthday and took a number of rooms. The staff were incredibly helpful and did everything to make our stay effortless, comfortable and welcome. "This is you house" we were told. Simply brilliant. Would stay again. Nice to be close to magazine street as well.

Really an awesome building but there is no one to help with bags when you arrive or leave. It appeared that our room hadn't been stayed in on some time as everything had a layer of dust on it. Bathroom and shower were really fantastic and the building is quite impressive. If they could just step up their service and...

Nice property on the edge of the garden district. Nice architecture. Front porch looks nice but faces a busy street and what is across the street is not too pleasing. The side and back of the house is quieter to sit outside. No coffee service in room but there is in lobby. No food service but I knew this. But...

Cozy neighborhood vibes, friendliest and most helpful staff (thank you Willy!) Felt like home with access to relax in "living room" with a warm cup of tea. And having coffee in the mornings on the front balcony made the experience complete. Very inspiring energy!

When you picture New Orleans the Henry Howard is what you're imagining. It's romanticly vintage. I expected a house and buggy to be outside. Grand old building converted to boutique hotel and reasonably priced. Easy access to St Charles street car. Truly friendly and helpful staff. Turn down service included chocolate chip cookies :-) The drawing room brings together other guests and makes for an enjoyable time if you want to have a cocktail in the evening.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
