My sister and I went to New Orleans,my 1st time. Neither one of us knew anything about the city other than the normal everyone drinks way too much in the French Quarter. I was not impressed with downtown. Now if you stay at the Fairchild House, you won't be sorry! Ronald greeted us the night we arrived and was full...

Located on the edge of the Garden District, this B&B packs southern charm and flair. On a trip with my daughters, the double double room was the perfect fit. The beds were comfy and clean. With a private entry facing the courtyard, my vehicle was just around the corner in a securely gated area. This is huge in a city...

I think "sad" is the perfect word for Fairchild B&B. It has the potential to be the perfect place to stay. It is an historic home. It is filled with nice antiques. It is 1.5 blocks to walk to the trolley. It is quiet. That being said, it is also in very poor condition. It needs renovations. The beautiful wood...

My wife and I stayed for 5 days. First let me say that this is in a excellent location. One block from the streetcar line, get the 24 hour "Jazzy Pass" for $3, and a short five minute walk to Magazine street. (Surrey's is awesome and a 7 minute walk.) The property is fenced in and the area seemed fairly...

We stayed at the Fairchild House for 3 days prior to taking a cruise. The rooms were large and very comfortable. The included breakfast was superb. Better than going out. And the location is close to most things. In the Garden District, one block from St. Charles street. You can walk to multiple restaurants, or you can hop the trolly...

I felt really quite let down with staying here. Sure, it was half the price of any other accommodation during Mardi Gras. It was still expensive, for what it was in my opinion. My main issue was the fact the room and property didn't look much like the website. It was more dated, tired and patched up than appears from...

This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and we adored Fairchild house. It was what you envisioned New Orleans to be like. The room was adorable, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. My husband loved it and I can't recommend it enough.

If you're looking for fancy elegance this is not your place. However, the rooms were very large, clean and extremely comfortable. Our room # 9 had French doors leading out to the Courtyard and the parking area which is completely gated. We felt very safe since the whole property is gated and you must have the key to get in....

We were so pleased with the convenient location and the atmosphere of the home. It's nestled in a beautiful corner of the Garden District convenient to the streetcar, restaurants, shops and antique stores. We were able to park the car and walk or ride the streetcar all over the areas we wanted to visit in New Orleans. The owner served...

What a great choice the Fairchild House was for our 3 night stay in NOLA! Our room was large, attractive and spotlessly clean! The location can't be beat - a couple blocks off Magazine Street, 1 block from the streetcar and near good neighborhood restaurants. Beatrice is a charming hostess - the continental breakfast was lovely and just the right...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
