My husband and I spent four nights at House of the Rising Sun with Kevin, Wendy, and Boudin (the best dog ever!). We stayed in the Memphis Minnie room, which was spacious, comfortable, clean, and quiet. A delicious, healthy breakfast was served every morning with great conversation on the side and even better activity recommendations! Without Kevin and Wendy, we...

Many thanks for your wonderful review! Glad you enjoyed all our recommendations. We try to advise our guests on the best places to go as most only have two or three days here. Judging by your comments in our guest book, we should be seeing you back here again at the House of the Rising Sun B&B in the near...

We loved this B&B! The house was cozy, clean, tidy, and we loved the huge king size bed in the red room. It's away from the craziness of the French Quarter but just a short ferry ride across the Mississippi. Kevin is very knowledgeable about the city and provided us with maps, listings for live music, advice on where to...

Many thanks for your wonderful review! It looks, after such a fabulous review, and your comments in our guest book, that you hit the four stars instead of five? We look forward to your next visit and glad you appreciated all the recommendations. Hope to see you back here next year.

A wonderful review but I don't think this is for the House of the Rising Sun Bed & Breakfast in New Orleans.

Walking through the white picket fence gate to this attractive home in the Algiers Point area of New Orleans was the beginning of just the Bed and Breakfast experience my husband and I sought for our January visit to see our daughter who lives close by. Kevin was welcoming and had many great stories of the history of this neighborhood,...

We always look forward to our several stay days with Kevin, Wendy and Boudin. They are so kind and thoughtful. Our room is the Red Room with a comfy bed. Kevin always makes sure we get a good breakfast before we walk to the Algiers ferry to the French Quarter. They know all the great places to eat in the...

Wow, Kevin is the best host ever, steeped in every detail of the area history with a bonus in blues music. And his breakfasts are not bad either, a bounteous bowl of fruit, yogurt and granola.... or any number of other choices. Perfect location, three blocks from the foot ferry that deposits you in the French Quarter.....quiet when you return...

Just a few blocks from my daughter who lives in Algiers Point, the House of the Rising Sun B and B provided my wife and me with everything that we needed, and then some! Our room, the Memphis Minnie, was perfect for our needs, spacious, well-appointed and with an attached private bathroom. Our host Kevin was so gracious and warm...

My wife and I took in the sights and sounds of New Orleans, while staying at this fantastic B&B. Kevin was a wealth of information and our stay there was fantastic. We loved strolling along in the neighborhood of Algiers. After all the hustle across the river it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet of their...

We chose the House of the Rising sun for our first stay in NOLA, to realise my man's dream : to play there for his birthday... We love animation but also quietness, if you're like us, do not hesitate : go to the house of the rising sun! At a ferry ride to the French Quarter, the house is situated...

December 2016 was my first real trip to New Orleans - it was fantastic. My friends and I spent two nights at the wonderful "House of the Rising Sun" B&B. The hosts, Kevin & Wendy, were amazing and now consider them friends. They were gracious and welcoming. The porch was my favorite "room" in the house - but it was...

Staying in Algiers

Neighbourhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
