My husband and I stayed at La Maison Marigny in March 2005, for our first visit to NO. It was a beautiful B&B, and John, the owner, was great. He was very informative about the area, and made yummy muffins every morning. We a short walk to the action of The Quarter, but far enough away to have quiet evenings...

My wife and I spent three nights at La Maison Marigny in March, 2005. I have stayed at B&Bs in many areas of the country, but this one was by far the nicest. We stayed in the first floor suite, a spacious and beautifully decorated room. John has taken great attention to the detail of comfort. Plenty of fresh towels,...

My wife and I came to NO for our first visit on our 20th anniversary. John saved us from a crazy cab ride and welcomed us as if we were old friends. The setting is definitely "quiet Bourbon" and the walk to the action is short and wonderful ( and as we found out, good for walking it off on...

My husband and visited NO for the first time Feb 14-19, 2005. We wanted the perfect place to stay and found it! La Maison Marigny was located within walking distance to many great sites in NO and was located close to street car lines. We felt very safe here, at the end of Burbon Street on the edge of the...

Close enough to all that NOLA has to offer, but a beautiful and quiet place to catch your breath. We are yearly visitors to NOLA and this was our first time at the Marigny. Definitely our new place to stay. John makes sure that all your needs are met and sets you off in the right direction to enjoy your...

We recently stayed here for 3 nights prior to a cruise out of NO. We enjoyed out stay very much. This home is located outside the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street yet with in safe, easy walking to the Quarter or any other activities in NO. The rooms are quiet, comfortable, and we slept quite well in the comfy...

My wife and I went for an extended weekend getaway to the Big Easy, and we were very glad to have stayed here! This is a great location on the far end of Bourbon Street, where the immediate area is residential and quiet, but the hot spots on Bourbon and Frenchman streets are only a short walk away. Our host...

We just returned from 3 night stay. We woke each morning to hot coffee, warm danish and good suggestions on dining, music and parades from John (the host). John was there to meet us with umbrellas upon arrival and made himself available throughout the stay without being intrusive. The downstairs suite was spacious and well decorated. It is obvious that...

First trip to "The Big Easy" was great. My wife and I stayed at La Maison Marigny for our anniversary after consulting this website. Everything was excellent, from the advice to the balcony to the quiet location. Everything you want is within walking distance except for Brigtsen's (a taxi is needed). We hope to get back sometime and would definitely...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

“The upstairs room in the back is nice and quiet. But the street is one block outside the Quarter, so the whole house is quite peaceful”

“We checked out all the rooms and they are all super cute and charming. The one over the back courtyard is probably quieter because it faces away from the street. Same with the room in the middle of the upstairs. But we didn't think it was noisy in the suite and that has a room facing the street.”
