Loved it from the moment we walked up. It is very stylish and historic of the area in New Orleans. Love the architecture of this building and many around it.
Sadly, there are some that need to be restored and given life again.
Our first trip here ever, so we did the typical scene.
Enjoyed dinner nearby on Frenchman Street. Adolpho's was amazing for their specialities! Local breakfast spots in the mornings. The Ruby Slipper and Who Dat Cafe.
If I had some suggestions for the BB, of course perfectly understandable during these COVID-19 times, the top floor had coffee and ice (Thank you for that!) But never supplies such as creamer (non refrigerated types) I had gone downstairs to get milk from the breakfast bar both mornings. Really not a big deal, but a small bowl of individual creamers & sugar & sweetener would be nice.
Also a trash can near the Hot Tub. Others had left behind trash and it was not cleaned up. I think supplying a receptacle would be more effective.
Second night we used Hot Tub, the water level was down quite a bit, so maybe that needs to be maintained more often.
The fact that they had one though, made us very happy!
And it would be cool to have a gas firepit in the Courtyard!
We will definitely be back and plan to stay here again. Will recommend to all my friends and family too!

Thanks for a lovely time!

The location is perfect, but there is no breakfast. No hot water the last morning of our stay. But, the rooms were comfortable and the location was great. The cleaning staff was very helpful and attentive. Small things need attention, but overall great stay.

My daughter and I stayed in the French Quarter for 2 nights. The room was fantastic. The decor was amazing and despite being on Royal St, we felt secure inside the room.
With the absence of a front desk we felt more like house guests than paying guests. All in all, a great experience. The only detractor was there was no breakfast at this bed and breakfast. Covid-19 is ruining this beautiful country!

It was our first visit to NOLA and we wanted to stay in "a house with balcony." The owners forewarn that this is an old building and that things aren't the same as they would be in a modern place. At the end of the day, we didn't spend that much time inside. The hotel is within walking distance from the French Quarter but the neighborhood is very quiet and my daughter and I always felt safe walking in the evenings. I was staying in the infamous Royal #5 with the bathroom across the hall. I missed this detail in the room description and not having the advertised bathrobes in the room was definitely a surprise. But, at the end of the day, all of once lived in a dorm :). I never ran into a single soul during my "trips" across the hall. Also didn't see any hotel staff ever. While we didn't travel during the busy season, the stay wasn't that cheap - over $100 per night.

Very disappointing experience. We arrived fairly late to a room drastically different from what we booked. We very intentionally booked a king size room and arrived to a queen with some noticeable decor downgrades. There were exposed wires hanging out of the wall, and the floors weren’t particularly clean. The response from Staff was rude, dismissive and unacceptable. We have now had zero response from them for over two days. I would not book this property due to this bait and switch and false advertising. Very poor hospitality for a company named hospitality Nola. See photos for booking photo as well as what we arrived to.

Stayed for 3 nights in April. Had booked the room with 2 separate sleeping areas but the booking agent messed it up so ended up getting 2 rooms in the house rather. I don’t know how it can be called a hotel. Not once did I see anyone who worked there besides the cleaning lady when there was a room change over. Rooms are not serviced unless you specifically request. The building is old, with paint peeling and wallpaper falling off. It is indicative of a house in that road and to be fair the road is very quiet at night, but felt like we were sleeping in Granny’s old house with children coming in at all hours of the night to head to their bedroom. One of the rooms didn’t have a wardrobe or drawers to unpack, the other one only had hanging cupboard space. No safe in the room, no dressing gowns. Should be relisted as a shared Air BnB. Would not recommend.

1 year. Found this off the beaten path in NO. It is on the North end of the French Quarter. It is in the "Art District". It was a short walk to Frenchmans Street where all the cool jazz clubs and Restaurants were and just a short drive to all the other NO activities. Quiet residential area. The old mansion has been turned into a hotel/ BnB but there we no brkfst due to COVID.In its day this was a fine residence with exquisite workmanship. That was a long time ago. The vibe of its past remains but It was not modernized so the rooms were rustic but functional. It suited our needs and I am easy so no problem except the water pressure in the old clawfoot tub /shower. The managers were not onsite and it is run by a mgt team. Just suit your expectations and enjoy the history, courtyard, and proximity to the areas restaurants and sights and enjoy yourself at a reasonable rate for a few nights.

Point of contact was non-responsive on day of check-in. Not a great place if you're trying to work on the road. TV/wifi in room did not work, hotel rep again non-responsive regarding that. Beautiful building, and the bed was very good. A quaint spot if you're looking to decompress, but a mixed bag overall.

Praises-Exterior was adorable, streetside parking was fairly easy, neighborhood felt safe, courtyards were cute. Didn't pay high prices for the area, 2nd floor balcony was adorable, breakfast was adequate. Room and bathroom were clean. Shower was large.

Criticisms- dirty glasses and empty bottles were left in several different courtyaloord common areas for more than 24 hours, even after I text management. Wasn't comfortable using hot tub after seeing the way the property was maintained. Water damage in our room near the ceiling, curtains were torn. When u turned the shower water off there was a water/sewer echo in the sink (weird right?) Overall, maybe this place was once majestic, however, it's looking old and not maintained. If I had these issues with just my room, what other problems were there in the other rooms I didn't see?

We booked this place over other places for a good breakfast. Very disappointed there was no hot breakfast... prepackaged Sam's muffins, cookies and yogurt. The hotel is being renovated, so construction material and loud. Rooms were as expected. Overall, more disappointed than impressed.

Response from Hospitality New Orleans, General Manager at The Mansion on Royal Street
Responded Aug 21, 2020
Shannon, COVID19 has changed everything in the hospitality industry. We observe the restrictions and guidelines for hotels and B & B's during this pandemic. Unfortunately, part of those guidelines is that we are no longer able to offer the fantastic buffet that we did prior to the pandemic. We have reduced our rates to compensate for this change. We also took the opportunity during this period to do repairs and maintenance to our property, which are now completed. We would love for you to visit when things return to normal to fully experience Royal Street Courtyard buffet.
