Sitting on the balcony over dinner with a lovely local beer, watching the New Orleans world go by was such an enjoyable experience, the food at the restaurant becomes very secondary. Watching musicians play on the corner, a band make their way down the street playing, another walking in single file after their own feats and then a wedding moving...

Dear bagdadnote, Thank you for your feedback but I am confused by your review as we do not serve food at our hotel. I think you may have written this in error.

Hotel is in a great location, and the hotel has a classic New Orleans feel. The staff were very helpful, and even upgraded us to a room with a balcony overlooking the beautiful streets of the French Quarter. The room had wonderful, tall ceilings and big, old wooden windows. Would definitely stay again :)

I have to start by saying that despite some disappointements, we had a pretty good stay. As pointed out by many other travelers, some of the staff are really helpful and nice. The best advantage about this hotel is clearly the location, on one of the most beautiful streets of New Orelans, 5 to 10 min walking distance to the...

Dear Nima2013, thank you for your feedback. While I am delighted to read that your encounters with our desk staff were friendly and helpful, I am extremely disappointed to see how you were handled by housekeeping. They are supposed to service every room unless instructed otherwise. So this is entirely unacceptable and will be addressed. Regards,

I had a lovely stay at the Royal Hotel. My room was spacious and clean with tv and a really comfortable double bed. There is not breakfast offered but coffee, tea and water were available in the hall all the time. Staff is absolutely great and the location is perfect to walk around the French quarter. High Recommended!

We had a court yard room, which was noisy in the morning when other guests were eating breakfast there and we were still sleeping. However, the staff was superb. No matter who was at the front desk, they went out of their way to be sure you had everything you needed. Offered assistance with directions, restaurant recommendations. We needed to...

The size of this room was a postage stamp. It was pretty basic with very little fluff other than the bed and four walls with a bathroom included. For the cost, I would advise against staying in a basic room here.

Dear clintonscoles, Thank you for your feed back. I do apologize that we were not able to accommodate your needs. Some of our rooms are petite rooms. They are listed as petite rooms on our website. Hotel Royal is a historical building. None of our rooms are the same in size and none of the rooms have the same layout....

Hotel Royal is in a wonderful location, but our room (#27 - 2nd floor) was disappointing. Albeit clean, the bed sheets were stained. The bathroom floor, showerhead, tub and toilet were not particularly clean. Desperately in need of some elbow grease with some attention to detail. Fortunately the folks in the room next to ours were pretty quiet, because we...

This hotel was GREAT. The location cannot be beat, with all of the French Quarter in easy walking distance. The rooms are small, at least mine was, but it was very clean and well equipped, the bed was really comfy! The Courtyard is adorable and the entire place has a beautiful historic feel. John at the front desk was so...

Quaint hotel, great location to explore the French Quarter. Our room was on the ground floor, facing Royal Street which made it a bit noisy especially early morning with delivery trucks etc. The room was very nice with a comfortable king-size bed. Staff were friendly and very helpful. They were able to supply parking near by at a reasonable cost....

Our hotel was wonderful! I never wanted to leave. It had the New Orleans old style along with new age luxuries. The staff were extremely helpful. Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
