Nestled in the French Quarter, Bienville House hotel is celebrated for its clean, spacious rooms and old-world charm, offering a tranquil haven with minimal street disturbance even during lively celebrations. The service receives mixed reviews, with commendations for friendly staff but also notes of unaddressed issues. While its prime location is a highlight for many, some guests feel the value is undercut by occasional high prices and a shortage of amenities like in-room microwaves and extensive breakfast options.

My group had 7 rooms at Bienville in March. The rooms are very large with pleasant southern traditional decor. The bathroom was very nice with a rain and handheld shower, lots of good quality towels, 2 hooks for robes, a reasonable counter space and shelves and a good hairdryer. My room had a walk-in closet with 2 bars and a safe AND iron and ironing board. One of my clients complained that her room did not have a full length mirror but mine did.
The tiki bar is fun but I did have one bad room service experience were they lost my order. They handled it well and comped my order in the end.
The front desk, Miss Cynthia is kind and helpful. She even remember my name each time I walked in.
This is a great location to reach most of what you want to see and do in the city. It is near 2 trolley stops.
The breakfast is better than most US hotels, with real scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, bagels, croissants, muffins, OJ (with ice), and cold cereals served on disposable plastic plates with disposable utensils. But it is not a high quality, made to order experience. It is adequate and free!
My sleep was disturbed by the train horn but nobody else in my group complained about it.

This review is long overdue. My fiancé and I have been to New Orleans three times, and Bienville has been our hotel for each visit. Since 2015 when we first stayed there, the staff has gone through almost no changes. The customer service has always been absolutely top notch, and I can’t thank the staff enough for their assistance during each visit. Cynthia and Beverly were so incredibly friendly during our stay, and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The concierge and breakfast staff were always ready to lend a helping hand, and everyone made us feel so welcome.

The hotel is located in the perfect location in the French Quarter – close enough to be easy to walk to everything and come back to the hotel during the day, but far enough away from all of the bars that we’ve never had an issue with noise. There’s a charming restaurant across the street that has a beautiful courtyard if you get tired at the end of the night and don’t want to wander out, and a cute little coffee shop and a candy store on either side of the hotel.

The hotel itself is stunning. We’ve stayed in a standard room, a superior room, and the Iberville Suite. All of the rooms were amazing, but if you’re willing to spend a bit more then I would definitely book one of the rooms with a balcony. The superior room has a private balcony overlooking the pool, and we enjoyed getting breakfast from downstairs and bringing it back up to the balcony to eat in the mornings. It’s an incredibly relaxing way to start the day.

The Iberville Suite was absolutely incredible. We had originally planned on staying in a superior room again, but Cynthia upgraded us to the penthouse when we arrived. I was there for a full week, with my fiancé joining me for the last four days of the week after my conference ended, and he was bombarded with my pictures and phone calls after I went up to the room. I’m shocked he could make out what I was saying in my excitement. If you ever get the chance, splurge and book the Iberville, because words cannot describe how amazing the experience was, and I don’t think I can ever thank the staff enough.

Hopefully I’ll be back again in October next year for my bachelorette, and I’m excited to stay at Bienville again. I can’t picture staying at any other hotel while I’m in New Orleans, and the customer service alone is outstanding enough to win my undying loyalty; the added amenities and conveniences are just bonuses.

Thank you Cynthia and Beverly for making our trip so wonderful!

We stayed here for 4 nights in early March and enjoyed our stay. Great location in French quarter. Close to everything but also in a quiet area. Included breakfast was nice.

Things you may want to know:

There is a keurig and a fridge in the room

You can take a taxi, Uber or left from the airport to the hotel. We took Uber and it cost approximately $38

About a 10 minute walk straight down to Victoria square and Cafe du monde

If you get there early they can hold your bags safely

There is a concierge if you want tour ideas

There is a small outdoor pool and courtyard, very cute. We saw people swimming in early March

This was a great location in the French Quarter and very comfortable if you reserve a king size with balcony overlooking the courtyard, which we did. Lots of space in the room. There are two seats on the balcony -- a small table would have been nice, too. Somebody came to make the bed and replace towels and other items every day, which we were not experiencing in other hotels during COVID. The staff and most of the other guests were very good about wearing masks. We would definitely stay here again in the same style of room. Tea and coffee in the mornings, hopefully continental breakfast comes back after COVID?

My main complaint was that the pool was not clean. There were cigarette butts and other debris in there. I realize that we visited during the winter, but coming from New England, I may have hopped in had the pool looked better maintained. There were pool towels set aside for use in the courtyard.

Finally, while it did not bother me, the train is very, very loud and makes noise at odd hours of the night. This may not be the best hotel location wise if you are sensitive to noise. We could also hear the people above moving around. It was worth it for the prime location on a quiet street in the French Quarter. Easy to get an Uber/Lyft/taxi to drop you off or pick you up.

This hotel is elegant, beautifully appointed and very inviting. It is a smaller boutique hotel, close to the action of the French Quarter with many restaurants, shops and sites close-by but just removed enough that you are not living amongst the bars and rowdy crowds. My 14 yo daughter and I walked all over the city and everything was close enough to be convenient but not so close as to feel overwhelmed with noise and partiers. The staff is helpful and courteous, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The finishings are luxurious and beautiful and make me want to stay longer, more, again. The beds are very comfortable, as are the pillows, and the shower is like a spa. The pool is good for relaxing but would not be a good choice for kids/families who really want to swim or play. The exercise facilities are at a sister hotel located several blocks away - the only thing I was disappointed about. There is a small restaurant on-site with room service but we have not tried it. I would definitely return.

This is the second time, 2nd hotel, that we've stayed at on Decatur and for us, the location is perfect for our needs. A few blocks from Bourbon Street, a short walk to Jackson Square and close enough to the casino to feel comfortable walking home at night.

As for the hotel, the staff, from desk to valet we're pleasant and welcoming. I know parking at $90.00 for 2 days is ridiculous for this Michigander, but having the vehicle parked inside within eyesite not to mention, unloading and loading and not having to shlep your luggage a few blocks down the street, lessoned the shock some.

Our room, a king deluxe with a balcony and courtyard view was exceptional. It was not cramped as many of the Quarter rooms are. The bathroom was modern, clean and once again roomy. The complimentary coffee, tea and cookies in the lobby were a nice touch as well

My only negative would be the temperature in the room and the constant humming of what I believe is the building cooling unit. There is a thermostat in the room, but I believe the temperature is controlled from a central location. I've read reviews from other properties, that mention these older buildings have issues with heating and cooling. We both said this probably would be an issue in the summer, but not in January. The humming is a different issue - I wasn't bothered until my wife woke me and wondered if that humming was bothering me, I said no, but then that is all I could concentrate on. The next night I was prepared and had my shooting range earplugs in the car, but the humming didn't bother us. I think the air was off untill 4:00am when we heard it again and the room was cooler.

We will stay here again and hope to return next December if not sooner.

This is our go to hotel in New Orleans. Close to Bourbon St., but still in a quiet part of the Quarter. The hotel is reasonably priced for the French Quarter, and the well appointed rooms are always clean with a traditional New Orleans feel to them. The staff is friendly and helpful too. Highly recommend!

We stayed for the LSU vs FSU labor day weekend game 2022. Cynthia and every hotel employee was so lovely and made our stay so nice. The room was very comfortable and clean. I had noted it was my husband's 50th birthday celebration when I made the reservation and we had a bottle of wine and a signed birthday card waiting for him in the room when we checked in which was a nice surprise. The hotel was in a great location, very central to both the French Quarter and the Warehouse District and felt very safe as well.

If you are considering the Sundeck rooms, note, the 4th floor Sundeck rooms facing the river do not have a view. It was nice to have an outside seating area but I don't think it's worth the extra money, plus that side of the building was near the train tracks and we were woken up in the middle of the night by the train horns every night of our stay. Our friends had an in interior room and they didn't hear a thing.

Overall I still give the hotel a 5 star. It was lovely and I'd stay here again.

this was a beautiful room but a $50 parking fee not disclosed. Additionally, there was no food or breakfast service. Breakfast included was advertised when I booked at my room rate however, upon checking in and learning of this, there was no rate adjustment. This was a big disappointment.

The Bienville House is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Our rooms were very clean and the bathrooms have been recently updated. Each day housekeeping came in with fresh towels, made the bed and took out the trash which is something we haven't seen recently in stays at other hotels. The front desk staff was always friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a quieter room request one that faces the courtyard or front. The back facing rooms are a little noisier at night with traffic and train noise. Didn't affect our stay since we were out late, but I can see others might want that info.
