The Bourbon Orleans Hotel garners mixed feedback, with its prime French Quarter location earning consistent praise for convenient access to local attractions. However, some guests have called out the establishment for hidden fees and the perception of poor value. While the cleanliness generally receives compliments, there are exceptions where guests report inadequate housekeeping.
The hotel's atmosphere, with its live music, adds local charm, but its dated decor and noise levels are often criticized. Reviews suggest that while the service can be friendly and attentive, it sometimes lacks organization.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years, both on and off carnival times. I have learned that the hotel has changed ownership and some of the changes in my opinion have resulted in a loss of the southern charm this hotel was so well known for. First of all, be prepared to travel several blocks in the morning to get coffee. The complimentary coffee service that used to be available in the beautifully appointed lobby is gone. The rooms have little coffee makers, but if you need real coffee in the morning, prepare.
The welcome drink that is advertised is also no longer available. Having said that, I must rave about the bar staff; the most professionally crafted cocktails I have ever had.
You must bag your own trash, and ask at the desk for extra towels, toilet paper, etc. because no one will visit your room for cleaning. An ice machine is located on each floor, and there is complimentary water in the room, along with a very small mini fridge.
The bright star of the hotel is front desk staff, Latrease. She has always been there whenever we have visited the BO and honestly, she is one of the main reasons that we have not given up on this beautiful, grand hotel. She is always pleasant, informative and was there when the hotel was in its former glory, so she still maintains that graciousness.
We had breakfast in the newly renovated Roux and we must also mention our server, Pam, who was also quite hospitable, friendly and helpful with some great inside tips when we told her our day's plans.
You can't beat the location and if you have never enjoyed real southern hospitality and are used to cleaning up after yourself, you won't find a better place to stay in the Quarter.

Thank you Magnolia57 for your review of our hotel. True Southern Hospitality is what we put into all we do, so we appreciate the kind words about Pam and Latrese, they truly are gems! The cocktails and professionals at Bourbon O are top shelf. Cheers to enjoying a hand crafted, well made cocktail. We realize we may have fallen short of your expectations in some areas due to our staffing levels, and we are working diligently to build our team to pre-covid levels. We hope we will see you again in New Orleans very soon! Our very best to you, Jamie Marie Hall Director Of Marketing Bourbon Orleans

Perhaps this is because I live in California and haven’t traveled this far south ever, but the hospitality at Bourbon Orleans Hotel, and every place we visited near this hotel had the most helpful and kind staff. Checking in and out of this hotel was effortless and pleasant all thanks to the lovely staff, namely our shuttle driver, Shawn P., who was kind enough to take us to the airport for a fair price. I would highly recommend. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious and worth it for only $20 per person including bottomless mimosas!

The staff was excellent and the rooms were great. My main concern was that given its location adjacent to Bourbon Street, and the jazz bar located within the hotel, it is very loud until midnight every night. It's challenging if you are there for business and need to go to bed early. Also, if you are there for business, the catering offers a lot of plastic bottles (water, juice) or even beer bottles for social hours, but there is no recycling available; everything goes to trash. I would recommend asking for pitchers and glassware if you are organizing.

This was our third stay at the Bourbon Orleans. We keep coming back because the location is amazing (2 blocks from Jackson Square), the hotel bar has consistently good bands (and drinks), the staff is always friendly and helpful, there are great restaurants and entertainment within a few blocks and they have a nice pool/courtyard area that is usually peaceful even though you are next to Bourbon Street. When you book you can choose an outside room on Bourbon (pretty loud, but fun if that's what you want) or an outside room on the other three sides (quieter) or an inside room facing the courtyard which isn't much of a view, but much quieter. The hotel is older, but they keep it up pretty well. All of the above is why the Bourbon Orleans is our favorite hotel in NOLA.

I am an ancestral New Orleanian and staying at the Bourbon Orleans is kind of coming home. It is right in the heart of the Quarter, borders on Bourbon Street which is great if that's where you want to spend your time, but for me, even better, it is behind St. Louis Cathedral at Royal Street. You can walk everywhere in the Quarter and beyond, stroll over for coffee, enjoy the great food and shopping.
The easy going friendly local staff make sure you have everything you need. I travel alone and safety is always important. I felt safe. Easy to visit the bar with good music and beverages, enjoy breakfast Le Roux, have a nice swim on the real patio pool area. It was quiet. Not fake. Real. My room was generous, quiet and I liked looking out the windows. I locked my self out by going out the patio door and had a lesson and stories from Mike the engineer when he helped me back in.
There's coffee available in the casually elegant lobby and laughter and easy conversation is available.
Mr Oswald greeted me when I arrived and always said hello as I came and went...the front staff loaned me scissors and needles to fix my Mardi Gras parade costume.
There be newer, fancier places to stay, but I love the feeling of being welcomed home and looked after well. Look for special rates, get used to being treated like you belong there. I felt like part of the weddings that were happening, there were interesting people to visit with just hanging out. Yes. It felt a lot like coming home, down to earth, welcoming and just right!
My favorite thing was the iHome bluetooth radio/speaker...I could listen to my own classical music on my phone. And I liked the shower arrangement, the handle on the opposite wall, for better control of the water.

The hotel is situated close to everything and within walking distance in the French quarter. Lovely rooms really well kept, the cleaning staff were excellent, as was the Concierge Staff on reception and in the restaurant seemed very disinterested perhaps as it was at the end of Mardi Gras they were "tired". I would certainly recommend staying here for its location and facilities but perhaps it would be better to eat at one of the many fabulous restaurants nearby.

Booked this hotel for a 2 night stay as a treat on our road trip from Dallas to South Carolina.
Arrived and a valet/bellhop assists with our bags on a luggage trolley. Ohh, that’s nice!
Drops one suitcase on the sidewalk, oh well it happens.
Book in, no bellhop- he’d done a runner. So the wide and I cram into the little lift with the trolley and get it to our room, then I run the trolley back to the lobby.
Not a great start, but hey things happen.
Next morning, we can’t get out the front door and are directed to depart by the rear entrance past a “SWAT” team. The back and front streets are basically closed, with a fleet of trucks, cables, cranes, etc.
Oh giddy, they’re doing a movie shoot at the hotel.
We get out of that madness and return later. Nope, front access is still a no go.
We go out for the evening negotiating fleets of trucks and associated mess.
The 2nd morning we’re checking out. Oh great, we’re still negotiating a Frikkin’ sh**fight of a mess!
Give the desk our valet ticket and “Give it to the boys out front or out back”, says the receptionist. Thanks.
Go out front? Nope. Street is STILL a huge mess.
Go out back? The same. No valets just a mess of trucks and wires.
Go back to receptionist and they ask if they can help me. Hahahaha!!!
Hey, don’t put yourself out, you’ve already got or money!
I ask if it’s not too much trouble IF she could call the valet.
She calls and is told our car will be ready in 40 minutes.
Right now I’m sitting in the foyer having a huge WTF moment trying to figure out:
Why am I waiting 40 minutes for my car when you could shoot a machine gun off in this place and only hit a half asleep receptionist?
Why did the hotel not NOTIFY US that our 2night stay at an “expensive, lovely hotel” was going to be like 2 nights at a construction site??? We would have spent our money elsewhere, that’s why!!!
Why did we rate our money on a hotel who doesn’t give a rats about their patrons.
Oh and hey housekeeping, fix the in-room coffee machine that was missing parts for our stay. Plus can you please clean previous patrons left behind junk out of drawers? Hang on, don’t bother we did it for you.
Am I pi**ed off? You better believe it!

I went down to New Orleans for my wedding and my stay here was amazing. Monique was so helpful to me the entire time I stayed. The housekeeping staff left a very personalize message with encouraging words for our wedding. When I originally arrived my suite was a little noisy from being so close to bourbon but they moved me with no problem. They were so understanding and kind. I love this hotel. It's really beautiful and the staff was awesome!

We had a 4-night stay at the Bourbon Orleans hotel at one of their Grande 2 Queen rooms. This room type is perfect with 2 sinks, a couch, and generous space to fit a family of 4. Our room was facing the pool area and it was quiet even on the busy weekend nights. We had our room on a higher floor and didn't have any issues with the elevator wait time. We like the location of the hotel and how most places we wanted to visit is only within 1 mile radius by foot. There is a Rouses market around the corner where we can get water, food, snacks, even fresh veggies etc at reasonable price. The only cons we have during this trip is how it takes sometime to get hot water to shower. Considering that this hotel is a 200 years old building, the hot water issues is really a minor inconvenience compared to everything else that this hotel has to offer. We highly recommend this hotel for a family stay in New Orleans.

We use small pouches for coffee but they are not Keurig compatible.
We recently renovated our historic ballroom balcony to ensure its protection and safety. During this renovation most of the front of the exterior of the hotel was not safe for use. This project has been completed.
I would guess that they would work with you unless it was during Mardi Gras ha We had a great stay, and it was in a great location, still in the action spot, but not as loud.
Will you kindly reach out to use directly jamiemarie.hall@bourbonorleans.
thank you!
