Hospitality can take the form of lush and plush or serene and minimal and I am appreciative of both, or any step in between as long as the presentation and service is warm and gracious. Sadly, this hotel experience was neither. I have stayed at the IH several times from shortly after its original opening through subsequent visits over the...

We recently spent four nights at this hotel. It is lovely, so long as you don't look too closely. Our room was sorely in need of some freshening up. It was dusty, our shower was moldy, and we saw a roach one morning. We reported this to the front desk but they didn't seem to take it very seriously. The...

I walked into the lobby and couldn't help but smile, the art work gives this place a uniquely New Orleans feel, the staff has been very helpful and friendly. Omg, as I walked off the elevator the hallway to the room were like something out of a movie. I highly recommended this place if you are looking for a uniquely...

We came to IH to celebrate my birthday, Valentine's day, and to surprise my husband with news that were were expecting. He's a driver and I hadn't seen him in a couple of weeks. When I walked in I was simply amazed. From the artwork to the furniture, the all around ambiance just felt special. Like someone really took their...

We wish you all of the love and happiness as you celebrate the arrival of your little one. Thank you for sharing your experience. I see lots of reviews and yours brought a tear to my eye. We hope to see both (all) back soon!

The hotel staff are among the nicest you will meet. Get a room in the upper levels to decrease street noise. The rooms need updating - last time they were updated Jackson was President. They need more plugs by the bedside for the copious gear you will carry. Walking distance to great restaurants. The bar in the lounge is great...

Very Clean, not too much noise from the street. Staff is very polite! The Queen suite might be small the bathroom is nice and large. Comes with a small fridge. Close to Everything within walking distance, or just grab a cab or Uber and get to Jackson Square in 5min. We'll be back again!

Stayed at the IH for Rock and Roll marathon. Two block walk to start line, two block walk to French Quarter. Nicely update turn of century building, valet, friendly desk staff. One block to St Charles street car line to Garden District and maybe 5 blocks to Casino if you are interested in that. Nice bar with pretentious "curated" cocktails.

I had never been to New Orleans before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I love this hotel. It's clear that someone has put a lot of effort into the decor. My bed was really comfy, nice big bathroom. The room was clean and spacious. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. There is also a great cocktail...

This hotel was perfect for us.The decor is neat and stylish/quirky and the staff are very helpful. The history of the building is pretty interesting, too. The rooms are comfortable and the location is ideal - just a short walk from the French Quarter. We really liked the Loa bar - great cocktails and beautiful lighting. There is also free...

Stayed two nights and hotel worked well for us. We like location near heart of city, and price and staff were exceptional. Hotel is classic New Orleans with great bar but no restaurant. In walking distance to the Quarter and to museums. Just one block away from St Charles trolley.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
