If I this review was on the hotel staff alone, this would definitely be a 5. I am giving the hotel a 3 due to our room. We chose a period decorated room on the 3rd floor of the main house as it had a separate bedroom off the master for our daughter. The room as warm at night and...

This hotel is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The courtyard was a beautiful area for relaxing after the excitement of the French quarter. This hotel is on the haunted house tour which was just fun- we met future friends and had a blast. Amazingly quiet, hardly heard any other guests. I loved my stay and will definitely be back!

Lovely old boutique hotel in the French Quarter near all the action in Frenchman St. Friendly staff and clean and comfortable rooms. The one drawback was that reception was up some very old, very narrow steps. There was also no luggage lift to the upstairs floors. It was VERY difficult to get luggage to the upper levels, and it would...

Spent Halloween weekend in the Big Easy for the 2nd year in a row! Loved the choice we made with staying in the Lamothe House due to its close proximity to Frenchmen St. and Bourbon Street. Hotel staff was great from start to end of stay and room was very clean and very traditional New Orleans style inside.

It was sad that our room wasn't in the hotel itself and was almost two blocks away but that was our fault for not paying attention. The room was nice and clean but the cleaning ladies kept leaving their cleaning supplies in there. But that was more funny than anything. Also not a fan of the $60.00 parking charge. Overall,...

I loved the character of this hotel, while still having modern room amenities. The courtyard is beautiful, the entry very historical. I also loved being able to walk a few short blocks to Frenchman Street, which was a fun way to have authentic New Orleans 'night out' experience.

We stayed 6 days and it wasn't enough! The hotel is quiet and like a little hideaway in between French Quarter and Frenchman St. The staff was extremely friendly and always helpful... great people! The hotel is old and charming, authentic and full of local vibe. We could run all over FQ or sit by the pool and relax... We...

Wonderful lodging, quiet and inviting. Staff was so friendly and supportive. The gated parking was secure and was a peace of mind that our sports cars were safe. The hotel was walking distance to all the activities and close to Frenchmen Street and great restaurants and entertainment.

We recently spent three nights here and loved the place. We booked our rooms a little late and had three rooms for all three nights. We were ok with the situation due to it being a last minute trip. Alex took the task upon herself to consolidate our rooms and only had us move one morning. Comfortable beds with lots...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the ancient oaks of Esplanade Avenue, the ornate architectural detail of the past meets modern comfort and convenience in our restoration of the historic Lamothe House hotel. Featuring an elaborate courtyard accented by mature landscaping, a garden pond, and a refreshing pool, peace and relaxation are just steps away from the thrill the Crescent City has to offer. In addition to 30 guest rooms refinished in traditional style, five Grand Antique Suites have been preserved from the original 1839 construction of the home of Jean Lamothe, a wealthy sugar cane planter of French descent. Furnished with antique furniture & artwork, the detail and charm that exemplifies old New Orleans is accessible to today’s traveler. Not to be overlooked is the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood the Lamothe House calls home. Here visitors will find Frenchmen Street, often referred to as “the local’s Bourbon Street”, which features some of the best local music and cuisine found in the French Quarter.Whether it’s your first or your next visit to the Big Easy, find the authentic New Orleans experience you are searching for at the Lamothe House. ... more   less
