The Marriott on Canal street is a great central location for exploring the city. It is right on the edge of the French quarter and also convenient to the convention center, the riverwalk and the warehouse district. It is an older hotel, but in reasonably good shape. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a nice rooftop pool. I...

In comparison with other Mariots this one is sub par. Couldn't get into our room. 6 times over the course of 3 hours we got new keys/were told to wait as someone was going up to the room and would fix while we were out. Management failed to resolve the issue and kept passing the problem on to someone else...

Stayed 5 nights for a conference. Location was good, lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Great lobby but agree rooms need some updating. I thought the service was exceptional from the front desk, restaurant, bar and all staff I met. Nice gym and pool. I did find the hotel rather loud even on a high floor. Guess that is...

A coworker and I stayed at the Marriott because it was the location of a conference we were attending. The staff at this hotel was fantastic. My wife I and I recently stayed at this Marriot for 5 nights for a national convention. Although the standard rooms are somewhat small they are quite adequate and comfortable. The overall service at the hotel was excellent. It is very convenient to the French quarter and near the street car lines which we took all over New Orleans. The...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
