The Hotel Provincial is a small boutique hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter. It has been owned and operated by the Dupepe family since its’ opening in July 1961. In 1959, Vernon and Eunice Dupepe bought the site of the French Market Ice House which had been destroyed in a fire. On that site, the original part of the hotel was built/restored and consisted of 44 rooms. Within a few years, under the stewardship of the 2nd generation, the family began acquiring several historic buildings surrounding the parking lot. Those buildings were restored and converted to hotels rooms. The 500 building was the last building to open in 1972, bringing the hotel’s total rooms and suites to 92. The Hotel Provincial is currently operated by the third generation of the Dupepe family.

Loved the location when I read that the hotel could offer ‘quiet’, despite being in the French Quarter, especially as there was a quarter fest jazz festival going on. The pictures were appealing, as was the location when we got there with its several attractive interior courtyards. Tony (I believe was the name of the front desk clerk?) was jovial, and, despite our being there before check-in, was smart enough to let us use our genius status with Booking.com to get their best rate for one night. He assured us if we came back in about an hour he could get us checked in early and did. Much appreciated on a stormy morning. Walking from the hotel is so easy as everything one would want to see or do is a short stroll. The room itself is attractive with a chair, a sweet little bathroom, and a comfortable double bed. The only noise we experienced was if the bathroom door was open and people upstairs were talking. I had an issue with phone charging and was helped by Molly and Brad, the hotel’s night clerks, who went over and above to see that I did not leave the next morning without sufficient phone charge, and a backup battery. Really like the buy one get one offer at the Ice Bar and this is a good deal for the hotel to offer at check-in as we each had a couple. Highly recommended, and would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff made it so!

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel was perfect for our trip to New Orleans. The location makes it easy to walk every where in the French Quarter. There are so many restaurants and attractions nearby. The staff were all very nice and friendly. We were traveling with our kids and appreciated how quiet and family friendly the hotel was. The main pool was so nice, we spent alot of time cooling off here, we didnt go to the smaller pool. We stayed in a petit suite with two beds, the room was a bit small, but the beds were comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. If we ever go back to New Orleans I would want to stay here again.

They were dishonest with pricing. We were located in a room from 1975. Bed was horrible, room was damaged, and needed repair, staff were rude or detached in several cases, power went out for a few hours just in the hotel, door lock went dead and after 5 trips to get it fixed they believed me the battery was dead, bartender was rude when we asked for a simple drink to go near closing, vomit not cleaned up in court yard for several hours.

This is certainly not up to par for us and we are disappointed to hear of your experience with our property and staff as that is not typical of our hotel. We will be sure to review your comments with our staff and management team and get to work on those items mentioned. We are not aware of any power outages at the hotel recently. We appreciate the feedback and hope you'd give us another opportunity should your travels bring you back to the city. Sincerely, Staci

I’ve been to New Orleans about 20 times since the early 1990s, about 10 of those with my wife, the rest on business. This was a trip to celebrate our 40th anniversary, and we have a new favorite place to stay. Hotel Provincial is on the quiet side of the French Quarter, so streets are really not as crowded. This is a beautiful gem of a hotel that’s walking distance from everything in the French Quarter and also close to Frenchmen Street. We stayed in a “premium” room, first floor off the courtyard and steps from the pool and the lobby. Very nice room with very comfortable beds, and the housekeeping staff was excellent! French Toast restaurant is a great breakfast spot on premises and Ice House, the hotel bar is a nice room, seats at the bar, excellent drinkmaster behind the bar and even three local brews on tap. Would definitely stay here again!

The location was very convenient to French Quarter restaurants and entertainment but removed enough to avoid the din of late-night revelers. The front desk staff--especially Brent--were top-tier hospitality management folks: friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Our recently updated and redecorated room was a delight, and the bed was quite comfortable.

After reading reviews I was a little hesitant to book. I thought possibly the hotel had taken a turn for the worst. But, NO! It’s wonderful! The rooms are great, the hotel offers anything you would need or want! The staff are the best I have encountered on my trip!

The noisiest room I have ever tried to sleep in. You can hear every outside noise and the heating / AC unit is louder than my alarm clock at home. The price was almost $300 for the Friday and Saturday before Easter. Not worth it. Location is not everything.

While we are thrilled to hear of your love for our rooms and location, we are certainly disappointed to hear of your concerns. We do have a higher floor and non-street facing rooms that may be a better fit for you next time you visit! Hope to see you next time! Thanks for the feedback

Location! Location! Location! The hotel is within walking distance from everything in the French Quarter without the busyness and noise from the clubs. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were super friendly and nice. Having access to “The French Toast” (restaurant) from the hotel was a plus.

I/we loved the charm of this hotel and its' area. Bedding and cleanliness were exceptional;friendliness of the staff and guests were wonderful. I would get a ground floor room next time as the stairs were difficult for us, and we couldn't the shower diverter on the tub.
