Hotel's Favourite
Just returned from a second visit to wonderful New Orleans, staying at The French Market Inn. Highly recommend this hotel! It is VERY convenient to Jackson Square and the French Quarter and was easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. We had an interior room (no window) on the second floor accessible either by elevator or courtyard stairs. We enjoy staying in hotels that are in historical buildings so loved the exposed brick walls in hallways and one partial wall in our room. The room was beautifully appointed with wonderful varied lighting options, ranging from pull down reading lights in the headboard, an upward facing ambient light in the top of the headboard (loved this!!), lamps, and a chandelier. A coffee service (pods, etc.), small refrigerator, and a safe were provided. My favorite feature was the large, glassed in shower with both a regular shower head and a waterfall shower head! There is nothing like walking all over the French Quarter and coming back to the hotel room for a relaxing hot shower!
Overall, we had a wonderful visit and will definitely stay here again! Staying in historical buildings is always a wonderful way to explore a city with history. Thank you, French Quarter Inn, for a wonderful stay!!
Things to keep in mind: 1) if accessibility is an issue, make reservations by phone so you talk to staff. Our section of rooms had 4 steps up to our doors. It wasn’t a problem for us but if stairs are an issue, our room wouldn’t have worked. We thought it was a cool quirk and interesting innovative way for remodeling a historical building. 2) this hotel is in a renovated historical building. The walls between rooms may seem a bit thin if your “neighbors” are loud or the baby next door cries at 5 am.

Great location in quaint hotel with lots of history . Beautiful staff, 24 hr service , very professional . Room decent size great water pressure , clean, chose external window and although faced Decatur street there was minimal noise . Courtyard pretty and although pool small - dipping pool - it was a pool in a pretty setting . No issues with cleanliness great coffee shop attached .

FMI is located in a centralized location that is away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon but yet close enough to walk to. We stayed on the 2nd floor in the back of the hotel with no windows. The bed and bathrooms were very large and the staff kept the rooms clean on a daily basis. There is a small dipping pool to help you cool off from the heat with towels within a few feet. The front staff is very cordial and check-in/out went very smooth. On a side note, make sure to visit Frenchmen Street for some great live music. Would even suggest this is a far better area than Bourbon. Thumbs up to FMI and would recommend to stay here

Yes, this place is in a perfect location for doing most everything. But oh the misadventures we had during our stay. When I started my trip planning, the room I looked at cost $187 and when I booked it, it had jumped to $319/night. They told me they would bill me for one night deposit, but when I checked my credit card account, they had actually billed me for 2 months so I had to call them. When we arrived in New Orleans, the NCAA basketball fans had taken over the city and it was chaos on Decatur Street. I was lucky enough to get one of the 2 spots in front of the hotel to allow us to unload. Once we settled into our room, we noticed we had been given a handicapped room on the pool/patio which included a shower curtain that came down halfway plus a thermostat was was mounted low on the wall. In addition, our TV did not work and one of the towel racks was hanging low since the screws had come out of the wall. We called for help and these issues were fixed promptly. Housekeeping became another challenge because they just do not want to provide full housekeeping services, which we did request from the get go. No housekeeping was provided on our first morning so we complained and got the garbage and soiled towels taken and got new towels. The next day was fine but the third day nobody came again. The room itself is very dimly lit and has no fridge, microwave and the hotel does not provide breakfast. Our room was on the courtyard and we had trouble sleeping because several guests were talking loudly in the courtyard way past midnight. We tried to get some drinks from their vending machine and it would not take cash or credit card, so we had to go to Walgreens.
The other huge issue for us was parking. Due to the NCAA Final Four, they took over the lot this place usually uses for their guests. French Market Inn charges you $46/day to park and I was given directions to one of their alternate lots. Upon departure, it was determined I was in the wrong place and would have to pay that location for parking and get the $46 charge off my bill. It took me 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot.
To their credit, this hotel did take care of me financially. I spoke with General Manager, Brad Valentino, who gave me a very generous credit to my bill and apologized for all the problems we encountered.

This hotel is right near all the action but it is quiet and safe. I love that they lock the front doors at 10pm and someone is always in the lobby. (Use your room key to unlock the front door after 10pm).
It’s also right across the street from the river and from where many of the tours leave from. The swamp tour and jazz riverboat cruise meet right across the street which was convenient in the morning.
It’s very affordable also which is a plus. The courtyard is beautiful and there is a pool.
I do wish they had a water bottle filling station. My shower could have been cleaner also (hairs in drain). There weren’t any comforters in the room so I had to turn on the heat at night. I probably could have requested one but I managed.

Conveniently located near Jackson Square and the Steamboat Nachez dock, the French Market Inn is the perfect choice for a mid-budget traveler new to the French Quarter. The staff is lovely, the rooms are clean and quiet (even on a busy street), and the courtyard is magical. So happy I booked it!

We had a wonderful stay at the French Market Inn! The hotel is in a perfect location for easily walking the French Quarter, and has plenty of shopping and food options nearby.
We had a Petite Queen room which was perfect for our needs. It was a good size and well-appointed while still having charm. The shower was also very modern which I loved.
Staff were super helpful with anything that we needed, from extra pillows & towels to extending our stay due to the Nola snowstorm (we ended up staying an additional 2 nights). Will definitely stay again!

Perfect location for the French Quarter Festival. Very friendly and responsive staff, and surprisingly upscale decor for a small, budget friendly hotel. Rooms are small, but clean, fairly well appointed, with comfortable beds. We stayed in a courtyard room next to the elevator and were never overly bothered by noise. (The courtyard was charming, with a very small pool.)
The room coffee set-up leaves a lot to be desired, but the hotel has an adjacent coffee shop with decent local roast and passable pastries. Be aware that the room rate doubles on weekends, especially festival weekends starting Thursdays.

Hands down the best service I’ve experienced in all my travels over many years. The greeting on our arrival started a truly wonderful experience and I would recommend this marvellous hotel to all travellers to NEW ORLEANS. The location is superb being conveniently close enough to the key sights but far enough away to avoid the rowdiness. Short walks to everywhere. There are so many great eateries very close to the hotel as well as a convenience store and market place nearby .
The hotel itself is like a big stunning period mansion with various wings all linked by a gorgeous welcoming courtyard and pool. It has been maintained beautifully so one feels special and of course being treated like a VIP by the staff helps. The room was gorgeous and spacious and clean and had all the necessary modern amenities despite the authenticity of the beautiful furnishings . Big comfy beds, a glorious shower and a beautiful balcony to sit and watch the world go by
Without doubt the respectful, knowledgeable and thoughtful doorman Eric felt like an old friend . The manager Cory was a professional in absolutely every way. Nothing was too much trouble and no question could not be answered . He was the perfect representative of a wonderful hotel . Without Eric an Cory I’m quite certain my daughter and I would not have enjoyed our stay as much as we did. We already want to go back !!! Being an Aussie it is a long way to go for a holiday but worth it and honestly worth going back to.. with friends and family. Thank you boys for the beautiful experience !

First time visiting knew Orleans, so wasn’t sure where to stay. Decided to try French Market Inn as it was close to a lot of the attractions we wanted to see.
At first we drove past the Inn, but quickly found it and was greeted with friendly staff, there was a parking lot directly across from the Inn, $46/ night. After a quick check in we were escorted to our room, we walked through an outdoor courtyard to an elevator. Room was super clean and rustic. We stayed two nights and room service made the bed and fresh towels. Quiet, we chose an interior room with no windows. Definitely recommend and we will return here upon our next visit!
