Location is great and within walking distance of some good coffee shops and the French Quarter. Some parades pass right in front of it. We had a room on the 6th floor which you actually needed to use 2 separate elevators to get to. Had a hard time maintaining the right temp. in the room but other wise place was...

This is a great hotel in the middle of things to see in New Orleans. Staff was friendly and helpful to help us navigate site-seeing. It is conveniently located near the trolley stop so we could travel all over the place for $3 a day pass on any trolley. Room was exceptionally spacious and so quiet we slept like "babies"....

We had a lovely weekend here with our two kids. Price was reasonable, especially considering how close to the French Quarter it is and with it being so close to Mardi Gras. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were excellent.

We stayed at The Lafayette Hotel for one week in February 2017. The hotel is an older style and the bathrooms could do with a bit of updating and the room was quite dark. Saying that the towels and other services were plentiful and beautifully clean. The beds were very comfortable. Finding breakfast around the hotel wasn't all that easy,...

My husband and I booked last minute for ourselves and my small dog. We had stopped off at the welcome center and they recommended we stay here at a very good price of $ 79 plus tax and $34 parking fee . Upon arriving after a long drive we were pleased with what we saw. Nice entrance although perhaps a...

Nice quaint room with balcony overlooking the street. Honestly not too noisy. Nice spacious clean bathroom. Staff friendly and...

Location perfect, room okay, staff's attitude below average. We were there for three nights and wanted to see the WWII museum and the Quarter. Easy walk to each. Its is on the St Charles trolley line. Third floor room was quiet but a bit tight. There is no real lobby. The bar (nice) was closed off to us one evening...

I stayed here with two of my best friends, as we were in town for the Rock 'N Roll Marathon. We primarily chose this location as we could walk to the start of the race. However, it has a lot of charm and is in a great location to the main attractions in NOLA. The price was fair/competitive for our...

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Lafayette Hotel. The check-in was efficient and friendly, the room very pleasant and spacious and the location hard to beat: strategically in the CBD, with the trolley stop in front and walking distance to the French Quarter. The only thing we missed was a breakfast option. There are options close-by, but to...

The hotel is very pretty on the outside and our room was decent sized and well maintained. Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience with the staff. They lock their doors after a certain time for safety and have a person sitting at the front. We were unaware, as we had been greeted the night before, around 1am by a...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
