PROS: 1) Near everything, next to nothing. No noise (unless there's a concert in Lafayette Park), no vomit (as in the Quarter), no crowds. The area is becoming a little more touristy, so that may change. 2) I think it's relatively cheap, compared with other hotels. 3) There is a nice bar and restaurant on the first floor and even...

I'm not really sure what's going on with this hotel. It is well located and has an elegant exterior but once you enter it all changes. The bar and restaurant seem to be franchised out and not open, which is shocking given the number of great restaurants in CBD. My suite was very well decorated and quite comfortable, the rate...

I went on a long weekend vacation to NOLA with my sister - this hotel was reasonably priced, right outside the prime French quarter, and a clean, large room. The staff were very friendly and we would definitely come back to stay here again. If you want a hotel steps from bourbon street or near Frenchmen, this isn't the place...

This place is in a great location, walking distance to everything. There is also free parking around if you look hard enough so we didn't even need to pay the hotel parking fee for the three days that we were there. The rooms were clean and spacious. My only issue was that the wireless did not work and there was...

We usually stay at the Hotel St Marie, but it was booked for the week of Easter. We chose this hotel, and were very happy that we did. Balcony room for sitting outside. Close to everything, we just parked the car and walked to all bars, parades and restaurants. All staff were very nice. Next time we hope to request...

My wife and I stayed at the Lafayette Hotel over Jazzfest. It was our second visit. We are almost certainly not returning. Our room was lovely but a bit worn down. During our four day stay we could not get wireless service in our room. I complained three times to the Staff but never got the wireless service we needed....

We had a large, lovely suite and were very comfortable: on the trolley line, within walking distance of the WWII Museum, and the French Quarter. What more could you ask for? More lighting would have been a start and an entirely updated bathroom would be nice. The poor bathroom has had so many caulk repairs it's chipped and sad. The...

In town for a wedding several of us booked a few nights at this hotel. For us it was conveniently located between the French Quarter and the Garden District area where the wedding took place. Hotel appears to have been recently renovated but my wife and I had a couple of things to nitpick. The rooms all vary in size...

Very well located between the French Quarter and the Arts District, adjoining Lafayette Park, and right on the Trolley Line. Staff were very kind and helpful. Several wonderful restaurants were also very close.

My wife and I took an anniversary trip to New Orleans, so it was important that the accommodations were specially prepared for the occasion. I called three times in advance to ensure that there was a bottle of champagne in the room when we arrived and any other special anniversary extras. I made it clear cost was not an issue...

Hotel is puzzled by this review - believe guests may have stayed at some other hotel. Lafayette routinely delivers champagne, gifts special services to guest rooms. All 3rd, 4th, 5th floor guest room windows are sealed closed with no hardware, no balconies. Think maybe other hotel was reviewed.....

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
