Located on St Charles street with one of the main New Orleans trams passing by the front of the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff - thanks very much to the 'bell hop' (like a concierge) who persisted in helping me recover the wallet I had left in a jet lagged haze in a taxi from the airport. King suite was...

The Lafayette Hotel is a boutique establishment situated on a corner of Lafayette Square, about 4 blocks to the French Quarter and a tram ride away on the St Charles line to the Garden District and museums. It is located in New Orleans' CBD but is somehow sheltered from the hustle and bustle usually associated with the city centre. We...

Maybe it was just our room. The extra cost for the balcony was not worth it at all as we overlooked a parking lot. Plus, it was the size of a postage stamp, and the French doors had broken glass. Our suite had a decent amount of space but attention to detail was lacking. A broken towel bar in the...

if you are traveling for business this is NOT the hotel for you. Every single hotel employee I encountered was young and inexperienced. The first room I was given didn't have any window coverings in the bathroom and was missing one in the "sitting" room. This wouldn't have bothered me that much except that the rooms on the back side...

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in a while. From being greeted at the door to the wonderful lady behind the counter, everything was perfect. First I have to say that the staff is top notch. They not only had an answer to my many questions but they made us feel at home. This hotel...

My Husband and I Celebrated our 32nd Wedding Anniversary and had so much fun. We are "empty nesters" and took the time for this much needed Vacation. The Hotel added GREATNESS to our Experience in New Orleans. Loved the Location, loved the view out of 4 of the 5 windows in our Room. The employee's were SO very NICE.

A doorman, classical music, and a charming ambiance greet you at this hotel. It's located in a quiet neighborhood, but close enough to the French Quarter to walk or take the streetcar. We had a balcony overlooking Lafayette Park and the bed was heavenly! They have some free street parking, which was such a blessing! We didn't move our car...

My wife and I took a trip to New Orleans and decided we wanted to lodge near the French Quarter. Our search for hotels in the area led us to The Lafayette Hotel on St Charles Ave. The hotel immediately reminded me of some of the hotels I had stayed in during visits to Paris and the location was close...

This hotel is not a perfect 5 star prime hotel, but it is a pretty good 4 star charmer and well worth the price. Location: in Warehouse District on St. Charles Street. The streetcar is literally right out the front door and there is lots within walking distance either way (into the Lower Garden District, Warehouse, or French Quarter). Also...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
