Hotel Mazarin receives mixed reviews, with many guests lauding its vibrant atmosphere and prime French Quarter location, which places them close to local attractions. While the charm and live music are often highlighted, some visitors are troubled by the noise from nearby Bourbon Street. The hotel's cleanliness and spacious rooms are generally praised, though there are mentions of moldy scents and maintenance problems.
Service is seen as friendly but occasionally marred by inefficiencies. Additionally, guests appreciate the hotel's amenities but are wary of extra charges such as valet parking.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 2 nights 3 days at Hotel Mazarin. Arriving at noon, we were not able to obtain early check in. The desk clerk was happy to store our luggage and place a call when a room was ready. We requested a room with a balcony, but rejected one on 2nd floor above the bar due to street noise and early morning ( 4 am) garbage trucks. We accepted an interior room, and later found that it was without windows down a long somewhat musty smelling hallway. The hotel ran some type of an air purifier in the hall.
The hotel was fully book, our room was unable to be moved.
Our deluxe King room and bed was very comfortable and quiet. The room includes a small refrigerator and coffee maker, 2 bottles of chilled water. However, the slight mildew odor was noticeable and unpleasant. There was evidence of past mold on the ceiling.
Complimentary coffee was provided every morning in the courtyard. We were provided complimentary buffet breakfasts and two tickets for a complimentary cocktails. Overall the staff service was excellent, however the condition of the hotel would classify the rating as a 2-3 star vs 4 star. The location is walking distance to everything and easily accessible. The price varies based on time and source of booking.

The Hotel Mazarin is perfectly located in the French Quarter. Just half a block off Bourbon Street, yet quiet and elegant. My husband and I loved the short walk to the trolley cars, the Central Business District, Jackson Square and numerous restaurants. Our room was extremely clean and nicely appointed. We chose a superior king and enjoyed the spacious feel and comfortable bed. The chairs are a bit dated and the odd rugs by the bed seem a tad too basic for what otherwise is a plush room. The bath was huge and stocked with nice amenities. A drawback was the window faces the court yard. Even with a room on the top floor, you have to keep your blind closed or anyone walking by can see in your room. The window also does not open. I suggest a room with a balcony if you like to have fresh air. The breakfast is included in the price and has a nice selection of eggs, french toast, breakfast meats, bread and all that goes with it. The tables in the courtyard made for a lovely spot to eat and get the day started. While not a five star hotel, it has so much going for it we'd easily stay again.

The fact that we have stayed at the Mazarin several times says it all! The location is excellent, in the French Quarter, walking distance to shops, restaurants, with Jackson Square about a 10 minute walk. The architecture is typical New Orleans with a charming courtyard. Unfortunately it was too cool to sit at any length in the courtyard but on previous visits we spent quite a bit of time there. The rooms have every amenity, including bottled water every day, comfortable beds and a terrific shower. Choose a courtyard facing room for the most quiet. Breakfast was previously complimentary and unfortunately they now charge a fee. However, it was quite extensive with everything I could have wanted and there are few breakfast spots in the area. Taxis conveniently outside, with a $36 flat rate to the airport. Highly recommend!

Great location, just off Bourbon. Hotel is pretty enough, and fairly well maintained. But the bed in the "premium' room was horribly uncomfortable, and the staff seemed uninterested in accommodating any requests or needs. Decent place, but somewhat disappointing for the price.

We had a lovely 5 night stay here at the Hotel Mazarin. The check in/out was easy and efficient. We had a double double room on the 5th floor overlooking the courtyard which was very comfortable. Very cosy beds, linen and towels great quality. Good having bottled water every day and the coffee machine was a lovely addition to the room. The bathroom was very clean and had a great shower with hot water all the time. Decent selection of toiletries too.
You cannot beat this hotel for location...Bourbon Street literally 50 yards from front door but once you enter this hotel you can't hear a thing from the madness next door! Everywhere else is not too far to walk either.
Breakfast was decent. We were very happy to pay $5 for an omelette as an extra. Patricks Bar is a must...go and see for yourself!
Highly recommend this hotel.

From the moment we arrived and throughout our stay the entire hotel staff from the front desk, valet service, concierge and housekeeping made us feel very welcome. Our beautiful room facing the courtyard was ideal!
Hotel is in a great location in the French Quarter, near Jackson Square, the Famous Cafe du Monde and of course Bourbon Street. We enjoyed touring and of course all the bars and excellent restaurants , etc. nearby.

This trip to New Orleans was a ‘girls trip’ for friends who have never visited the City! Prior to arrival I called (Spoke w/Tyler) who was very friendly and helpful to secure a courtyard facing room and I wanted to set-up a few things for my friend’s birthday (was disappointed that this didn’t happen upon arrival as requested..but Tyler corrected the matter the next day)! Otherwise, check-in went smoothly!
The room was clean and spacious!
The location is 20 steps from Bourbon Street and this was great because my friends wanted to be central to the action and believe me…we were right there..but having a courtyard room isolated is from all the noise of ‘Bourbon Street’!
The hotel had a connecting restaurant that wasn’t operating due to (COVID), but no worries..plenty are open all around the French Quarter and other neighborhoods (Please leave the quarter..so much more to see & do elsewhere in New Orleans)!
There were a few bumps with the stay here (ranging from staff who were not as friendly and accommodating as they should be; a water bug was discovered in the bathroom and this caused discomfort to us the remainder of the night). I was told I would receive a credit to my bill for the incidents that occurred during our stay (still waiting)?
Overall, I loved the location of the hotel..centrally located to many places; I was pleased with the room placement (very little noise except for folks gathered in the courtyard at times) and Tyler (front desk staff) was the MVP of the trip because he made an effort to ensure we were satisfied during our stay!

Overall nice hotel, however we arrived at the beginning of the covid19 virus spread for my sons wedding. Rumors of the city shutting down were growing. Guest were beginning to leave the city in droves, We reserved 3 rooms and inquired about any kind of upgrades that might be applied... we were told no. Not a big deal even though we knew the hotel had plenty of rooms. Front desk not super friendly at check in. Breakfast is NOT included, which we thought it was? At the price you pay for this hotel you would think it would be? Small things like this go a long way when returning for a second visit. Anyway, my son was married in a lovely ceremony at the Napoleon House and we made it home safe and sound. BTW...they were the last to marry at this venue due to the covid19 virus with all others postponed till further notice.

Stayed this past weekend and was shocked at
the high reviews this place received. We
booked a king room and were given a room
with 2 beds that were larger than a twin, but
smaller than a queen. Other than that the
room was acceptable.
I brought this to the front desks attention and
they switched us to a king room. We walk over
to the king room and it was filthy, small, and
had a foul smell. The air vent had a
tremendous amount of dust on it. I head back
to the front desk, and they offered the original
room with the small beds, which we accepted.
The hotel is run down, and filthy. The general
manager of the property is clearly not doing
their job. The area rug in the lobby looks like it
was picked from a Bourbon Street dumpster.
The elevators were completely disgusting. The
courtyard is covered by a tarp that was an
eyesore.
The property has a great location and the
staff was pleasant. But if this was my property,
a new GM would be a top priority. Either the
cleaning staff is short handed or they need to
be retrained.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but
honestly, you just need one word "AVOID"

I came to NOLA for the first time in Oct 2020 and stayed right next door at the Royal Sonesta. Couldn't get a room there this time, but this one is JUST as good as far as the quality of hotel and location.
I checked in kinda late, around midnight so they had to give me a room with a wheelchair accessible shower, which I normally wouldn't mind, but the floors here are a very slick marble. Whenever I showered, I had to put a wall of towels on the floor because even a little water would send you sliding. They provide robes and slippers which are highly recommended for the floor.
As far as the room quality goes, it's a beautiful room. There's a small chandelier on the ceiling, large room, beautiful wood vanity and 2 of my favorite things, a small fridge and safe. The fridge can only hold a few waters or cans of whatever, but it's enough for just me.
The location is the best thing. Right in the heart of Bourbon St. You can stumble back after a night of partying and you're right there. Even being so close to Bourbon St, I really didn't hear any noise unless drunk people came in loud into the hotels courtyard.
The elevators are key card operated, there's only one and it's very busy. So instead, I usually just walked into the courtyard and walked up the stairs. If I didn't have any luggage.
This was a nice hotel in a great location. I'd definitely stay here again.
