We were able to get a great rate on short notice...wow - our lucky day! And, then - we realized that much of the hotel was under renovations. We were given a newly renovated room. Sadly, the (new) beds were a bit on the hard side and disappointing. The new baths are clean and fresh. The internet was difficult to...

This trip to New Orleans was only for a few days to attend a wedding so staying off of Bourbon Street was what I wanted. It was easy to find after coming back from our walks. Walking in after being outside where it's very muggy was refreshing. I chose the room with a balcony because I wanted to check the...

We have always wanted a balcony room on Bourbon street just to experience New Orleans. We got just that. During our vacation to New Orleans we chose to splurge for a room, very glad we did. The easy access to the Valet parking was great, the Valets were super nice to us. Check in surprised us because we got the...

How lucky to have a conference on Bourbon St! The hotel is very nice and staff are helpful and courteous. The conference facilities were very nice as well. In terms of location, I don't think you can beat it. You are within walking distance to anywhere in the French Quarter and of course are steps away from Bourbon St. Whether...

Room service is excellent, location central just opposite from the river and next to square. Respected resturants with good people watching opportunities. Of all Quarter hotel this is the prime locstion perhaps some loud noise if room near Bourbon Street.

We have stayed at the Royal Sonesta in the past and felt like it was the grandest hotel. For this romantic visit, we chose to stay their again. We spent 4 days at the Royal Sonesta. Our room included the R Lounge which was fabulous! Actually, it was too good because the nightly appetizers were delicious, and we were always too full to go out to dinner! Patricia, who works in the lounge, excels in customer service. She is sweet and friendly, and just a joy to talk...

Good food and service, rooms a little compact but still the place to stay in New Orleans. The Oyster Bar is great for breakfast and afternoon snacks, the main restaurant is classic service and the food is awesome.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
