We have an annual Thanksgiving gathering of our kids and grandkids, and the French Quarter of New Orleans has been the spot four out of the past six years. Each of the four weeks were spent at the Royal Sonesta, where the good times do roll. Several of the staff, from the lead doorman to the concierge, have recognized us...

The Front Desk staff is the worst I've ever experienced in any hotel, in any city. At check in time, the 500+ room a night wasn't ready. "Come back in 15 minutes," I was told. "We'll take care of your luggage." They wheeled my luggage into the middle of the lobby, where people were coming and going off of Bourbon...

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. These are the reasons why: 1) location: right on Bourbon Street and across from Cafe Beignet which is comparable to Cafe du Monde (and a lot closer for the early morning hit of beignets) 2) clean 3) great bath amenities 4) earplugs if street noise (parties and music) keep you up. Etc.... We are already...

Having been a resident of New Orleans, I know the city's pleasures and treasures. The first time I stayed at The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon St, I was 10 years old on a trip with my parents. As an adult, when visiting New Orleans, I always stay at the Royal Sonesta for the luxury, location, top notch hospitality, and oysters...

Location is perfect if you want to be able to walk to all the near by districts and popular sights, including casino. The hotel is very nice but staff at the registration are not very welcoming. Be prepared to be staying in a very busy, loud and very dirty street.

My wife and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Royal Sonesta... We arrived late morning and checked in and the Bells held our bags as it was understandably too early for our room while we ventured into the French Quarter...Our first entry onto Bourbon Street was a bit of a shock given the crowds, noise, strip...

Located right in the heart of the French Quarter is not exactly where I wanted to stay. To my pleasant surprise...I was blown away by the service staff and the hotel. You would never realize there was a Bourbon Street party outside as the room and hotel were quiet and relaxing. After a much anticipated trip to NOLA and making...

My inside courtyard room on the 5th floor was super quiet. And you can't beat the location. A lovely oasis right smack in the middle of Bourbon street. Plus, the beds were super comfy. I was there for a small conference, which was right in the hotel. The complement of the academic conference and elegant hotel on the one hand...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
