I travelled with a group of friends for my first trip ever to New Orleans for Mardi Gras earlier this year. One of our friends had a room booked at this hotel, but was upgraded to the R Club Room (special guest key needed for the floor) and it was amazing! Nice to have your own private lounge on the...

I traveled a lot with my parents and siblings and now I am traveling with my daughter. In all the years I have traveled I have never had such excellent service as I received at the Royal Sonesta. Curits greeted us and ensured that we had not a great room but a fantastic room with a balcony overlooking the pool...

Staying at the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans, we truly feel like we are "coming home." The staff is wonderful and attentive, always with a pleasant smile and willing to help in any way they can. The hotel itself is such a beautiful place. You are right in the middle of the action of Bourbon Street, but once inside, feel...

Coming from new york where everyone is into themselves, it was not only refreshing to come home from a long day of exploring the French Quarter. The staff at this beautiful hotel demonstrated excellent southern hospitality. From the bell hops and door men to the desk clerks and concierge these people were nothing but warm and helpful. This is a beautiful hotel. Quaint. The staff is excellent and our room, off Bourbon St. and the pool area, was very quiet. I'd recommend buying your WATER at Walgreens or CVS stores on Decatur Street, just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Go to BUFFA's for music as it's a local music venue within easy walking distance (on...

If your trip revolves around Bourbon Street, this is the place you need to stay. The hotel takes up an entire block and faces Bourbon. Of course with this convenient location comes a lot of noise, but it was nice being able to people watch from the balcony. If you don't mind the noise, its worth it to pay a...

First, you cannot beat the location right in the middle of Bourbon Street. Walk out the doors of the hotel and you are in the middle of the party. Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
