The city is meant to be explored and discovered, and Coach House gives guests easy access to uncover historical nooks and crannies and secret locals-only destinations. Located in the New Orleans Garden District, our true boutique hotel is just streetcar stops away from the lively atmosphere of renowned restaurants, local shops, and historic homes that surround the World-Famous St. Charles Streetcar Line. The St. Charles Coach House offers a quiet sanctuary away from the noise of the city, but close enough to immerse yourself in the culture and adventurous spirit of New Orleans. Steeped in both culture and character, the history of our St. Charles Coach House dates back to 1921 where it’s transitioned from plantation to automobile dealership to the property we’re proud to have today. Whether traveling on business or for some much needed R&R, we encourage you to explore like a local, stay like a guest.

The St Charles Coach House, Ascend Hotel Collection, garners appreciation for its exceptional service, with the staff frequently commended for their professionalism and responsiveness. Nestled in a convenient location, the hotel is a hit among guests for its proximity to public transport and attractions, including a handy trolley stop. While the rooms are generally spacious and come with a host of appreciated amenities, issues with cleanliness and maintenance have been noted by some.
Despite the absence of breakfast offerings, the hotel's value is applauded, thanks to its affordable rates and free parking. The overall atmosphere is favorable, with guests enjoying the charming design and character of the hotel. However, cleanliness, while often praised, has been mentioned as an area with room for improvement.

Detailed Reviews
Thank you Geoffrey, the general manager who made me feel so comfortable when I wasn’t feeling well! My daughter and I had a wonderful time. This hotel is so quaint and close to all the main attractions and is on the beautiful street of St. Charles Ave. which is a charming street so close to great restaurants, Magazine Street, French Quarter and the Garden District. We loved the boutique style of this darling hotel filled with character. The front desk was helpful especially when I wasn’t feeling well. Please stay hydrated if you come in the month of August. We loved having parking available too. As a single mamma I felt very safe and cozy! Thank you!

This place is wonderful! The staff are so kind and accomidating, very knowledgeable of the activities going on in the city and always willing to assist you with anything. It has close access to the city street car, and day passes are very reasonable ably priced. The rooms are spacious and cozy and we love that they have hand held shower nozzles in the bath that are adjustable to a comfortable height for my 6'2" husband. Will definitely be our go to stay when in New Orleans.

Thank you so much Heidi for your reviews. It is great to hear your husband fit in the shower...I have a family of all tall people (Myself not included) so I know how difficult that can be. We can't wait to welcome you back again soon!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
There were several things I loooved about my stay such as, they didn’t hold a deposit on the card, personalized text messages were sent before, during and after our stay from customer service, the quick check in with detailed pertinent information pertaining to the parking process, where to locate the ice machine was on, how to access the building at night and where to get complimentary snacks etc. I also loved that the room was stocked with enough towels for at least 3 ppl, so we had enough towels to shower at night and in the morning-loved not having to hunt a housekeeper down in the morning for towels. The room ambiance was everything! And the amenities in the room like the black out curtains, fridge and keurig, is a plus! I also was granted a late check out! Lastly, i only had 1 concern regarding the housekeeper, but it was addressed immediately and i appreciate that. St.Charles Coach House definitely exceeded our expectations!

The first time I stayed here was Dec. 2023. It was decorated for the holidays, clean and charming. 10 out of 10
Second visit-March 2024. 2 out of 10. I moved out of the hotel after 3 days. We checked in around 8pm. The entry floor in our room was slippery, and there were spots on the bathroom floor. Fortunately there was a random tub of wipes down the hall and I wiped up the spots. When I told the front desk about the slippery floors, the response was it was probably damp because they might have cleaned the carpet, meanwhile I had gotten a text at 11:00 am that my room was ready.
HOUSEKEEPING wanted to clean our first morning there at 8:40am, why?? It was the only time in 3 days housekeeping came! We went out for the day and since we had declined service, I wasn't expecting them to come back. The next day we were out all day and when we came back, our room hadn't been serviced. I was told we had to request service, meanwhile, they knocked the first morning and they cleaned my room everyday when I was there in December. They never told me we had to request cleaning, I asked another guest, who was not told about requesting housekeeping either. We actually had to get toilet paper from the front desk because there was only one roll in the bathroom when we arrived and never replenished.
GROSS: Garbage pails were overflowing on both the second and third floor. There was a used condom on the floor, there was a plunger left in the hallway. The ashtrays outside were not emptied the entire time we were there, nor was the outdoor seating area attended to at all.
There is a sign in the elevator that says if your stay is less than a 10, let the know and they will fix it. When I mentioned the issues, they told me housekeeping was gone and there was nothing they could do. I could reach out to the manager in the morning. I was given an email address for the GM, but I guess only employees can send emails to him, because my email was blocked.
My trip took an unexpected turn and I needed to stay in Nola longer. I switched to another hotel.

Responded May 7, 2024
Thank you so much for your review. I first want to apologize that you could not reach me by email. My email does accept email from anyone. I apologize if there was a communication issue in the spelling of my name, as it is rather unique. We do clean carpets between each guest. Depending on the temperature outside and the level of cleaning needed they sometimes do take longer to dry. Typically though a slippery entry floor means a housekeeper used the wrong chemical to clean the floor and for that I am sorry. Housekeeping does begin their day at 9am. As a declination was given they do not clean the room. On the mirrors of each room there is a notice about requesting housekeeping as well as on the iPad at check-in. Since covid this has been the policy of all choice hotels nationwide to only clean upon request or on every third day of your stay. Typically if we do not get a decline on the first day we clean daily. Since there was a decline we mark your room as on request per the national policy. We apologize that this was not communicated to you clearly and I have let my team know to ensure that all guests are aware. Our front desk is stocked with all of the amenities and I am glad that they were able to assist. We have put in new procedures since march on public space cleaning. As you were at the hotel at the busiest time we did have shortcomings in our public area processes and we will take full accountability for that. Trash is emptied now twice nightly instead of once and the outdoor area has been deep cleaned and is now being maintained by both the hotel and event space next door which means more eyes are on it. We do not have management or housekeeping service past 5pm. I am sorry that you did not feel heard in your complaints and want you to know we do take criticism and use it to improve our property. I do hope you will give us another chance to prove to you that your opinions in December were correct. Please reach out to me the next time you are coming into town and I will be happy to see to it that you have the best value possible. Sincerely, Geoffrey D Taylor Area General Manager Geoffrey_Taylor@acihotels.com

I nearly always stay at Choice Hotels which have few choices in the City of New Orleans. We definitely made the right choice with the Coach House. We booked a balcony room, and... wow!
This is right on St. Charles Ave. Live music every night 2 doors down, wonderful food everywhere, right on the street car line (the 12)
The art and design through the space is fun and comfortable. We love sitting out on the balcony every night watch the cars and street cars go by. We were there at a quiet time, but New Orleans, while warmer than home in Vermont, has a constant river breeze which made it lovely for relaxing.
The shower was awesome. I mean, it actually had a high quality removes shower head. There was a small box with "ear cleaner" packets, extra towels on the lower shelf, and even wall mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The extra seating in the room (love seat and chair) were nice and didn't look like hotel fare at all. Each had extra pillows and throws which I used outside on the rocking chairs.
There was a business center which I used to print tickets for Mardi Gras World.
Coffee came from our in-room Kurig. All the cups you want with coffee, tea, and hit chocolate are in the lobby.
Almost every morning we were asked by the staff if we wanted our room cleaned and when it was, it was all done.

Amazing experience from check-in to departure. Start with a great location in the quiet upscale Garden District with block after block of stunning historical homes and wonderful restaurants. Add a clean spacious tastefully decorated room (renovated in 2018) staffed by the some of the most helpful friendly people you can imagine. Top it off with the green line trolley at the front door to all of New Orleans top attractions while your car is secure in the parking garage included in the rate.

Excellent hotel and room, too bad about the 'elevator noise on room 8. The location is very good, only 20 minutes to the french district, and the garage as free service is a great additional value. The room was huge and beautiful, but next to elevator who made a strong noise all the time it was in use.

The staff was excellent. Free, secure parking is great and unusual for the area. Walk to a couple restaurants and the trolley ($.80 a 24 hour day for seniors and veterans) had a stop directly across the street. Definitely would stay there again.

This hotel is going to be the only place I stay when visiting New Orleans going forward. The people were welcoming, kind, and helpful. The room was large with a seating area in a double queen room that obviously had a great interior designer. (I’m going to hunt down the wallpaper in the elevator because it’s amazing.) They thought of everything to ensure guests are comfortable. The lobby map at the desk even has the routes to the streetcars that proved invaluable for visually understanding how to navigate the city with a stop in front of the hotel. Only minor issues that I wouldn’t even mention during my stay because for the price I didn’t expect to have available were no shampoo available but conditioner was in the shower and housekeeping discussions on what rooms to clean could be heard from the room but they were so joyful that I didn’t mind but my daughter was still sleeping and I thought they may wake her. (In their defense, it was 9:30am and the kid needed to get up rather than sleeping away our time in the city. 😉) This is the best deal in the city overall and near other parts of the city worth seeing such as the Garden District and Magazine Street shopping. Book it. You won’t believe what you get for the money. The pics aren’t photoshopped.

We're delighted our little extras, like the lobby map with streetcar routes, made exploring easier for you. I’ve stayed at the St. Charles Coach House twice, and had a very nice stay both times. The hotel is comfortable and the desk staff is friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, with a trolley stop right out front, so that you’re not right in the middle of the madness all the time, but are only 15 minutes or so from the madness when you’re ready for it. It’s also just a few blocks walk from Magazine Street, where nice little coffee shops and such are to be found. The hotel has park-yourself free secured parking, unlike the hotels nearer the French Quarter.

Not really, but if you get in at a decent hour you should be able to find a spot.
Not sure if they go all out. The lobby is not very large.
There is someone at the front desk, but I don't think the hotel offers concierge services.
The hotel asked us and all restaurants & tourist facilities asked for proof.
