Nestled in a prime location, the Hilton New Orleans Riverside garners appreciation for its proximity to local attractions and its scenic views, according to guests. While the hotel's atmosphere is often described as traditionally charming and clean, some visitors feel the decor and facilities are in need of an update. The service quality receives mixed reviews, with commendations for staff helpfulness contrasting with remarks on occasional slow service. Cleanliness, particularly of event bathrooms, generally earns high praise. However, concerns over hidden fees and the value offered by the hotel are frequently noted by travelers.

This was the last hotel on a 21 tour by car of USA before returning to England. We stayed here 3 nights when there was a large conference in hotel. We ate in Dragos one night and had several visits to the bar area.. overall we thought the staff were very helpful, the public areas were nicely furnished and kept clean by staff, the hotel looked like an average hotel not Ritz Carlton but nice beds, large rooms, super air conditioning, New Orleans was exceptional hot for our visit. Security seemed good as lifts only worked if you tapped your room key. We used the valet parking, charge clearly displayed at entrance to car park and car made available very promptly when we needed it. Charge the same as at other hotels in area and other places we stayed.

It’s a short walk (10 minutes) or light rail to the French Quarter which was packed because of crunch football game. Our room overlooked the river and the train tracks, the view as the sun rose was spectacular.

We were very pleased to have stayed here, but I thought the Starbucks prices were very expensive and the muffins not very special but it was the only Starbucks we visited on our trip so maybe that’s the standard price and quality.

Second time staying at this Hilton. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that is considering a stay in New Orleans, especially near the French Quarter. It’s as clean as can be, has a whole lot of parking and an outlet mall is beside it. The walk to everything is about 5-10 minutes and is very safe. I would easily give this hotel a 5 star rating.

This property far exceeded expectations. From the housekeeping staff to the concierge and front desk personnel, details were never glossed over or neglected. Restaurant prices are a bit high, but the food quality and service justifies the price. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

The hotel is not up to Hilton standards in my opinion. There has been some renovations but the hotel is tired.
Bring water with you to your room or you will get charged $4.00 each.
The Restaurant DRAGO'S in the lobby is badly in need of upgrade. The carpet is so dirty and smelly it turns you away. The kid at the restaurant reception was more interested in the game on TV than attending to the customer.
Disappointing.

I stayed here for two nights during a conference and would probably not stay here again unless it was for a conference. I’d selected my room in the taller tower based on the reviews. When I checked in, it was not available at check in, so I was given a room in the section of the hotel (Riverside) closer to the train track. I thought (wrongly) that as a Diamond member I was getting a comparable room to the one I’d chosen in the app, but wow, it was not. I dropped my bags quickly, went to some early sessions of the conference, and then out to dinner. Things seemed fine until the train in the middle of the night. It came by at least 6 times during the night between midnight and 6 am and the room was pretty much next to it. You could hear the train horn and the rumbling of the cars. I’ve lived in cities and stayed in other parts of New Orleans, but this was very loud and disruptive. I went to the front desk the next morning and afternoon to request a different room and thankfully was able to be in a room on the 11th floor tower after the second visit. When I asked the front desk about moving to a room farther away from the tracks, the first person I spoke with didn’t have a way to see the room location on the computer, which seemed odd. Why someone would build hotel rooms right next to a train track that carries freight at night is mystifying. The front desk staff were not particularly apologetic or caring when I’d explained the situation. Breakfast at the coffee place was fine but pricey even with a daily $15 food and beverage credit. Be prepared for a long line, even if you just want a grab and go item. Location was good walking distance to restaurants and other sights. But the room noise was too much and I would not recommend staying here unless you are in a high floor room and staying here for a business meeting.

The Hilton New Orleans Riverside is a nice hotel with many amenities. We were visiting while my husband was there for a conference. Our room was nice but for me the beds were more firm than I would like. It rained a good bit while we were there so I was caught staying in and made the room as comfortable as I could. We did not request maid service while we're there but the front desk staff were helpful and the employees in the store and marketplace were friendly. Of course, you are in downtown New Orleans so everything is pricey so expect $3 bottled water and $5 soft drinks. There is a great restaurant (Drago's) inside along with a couple of bars. There is a health club that charges a fee. Parking in the deck next to the hotel was currently $44 a day. As far as a stay downtown is was good and recommended.

Hello and thanks for reading my review. I am an independent travel agent, and I stayed at this hotel while attending a business networking event. My reservation was for 3 nights, then hurricane Francise hit on my last day there. My flight return got cancelled of course, so the evening before I went to the front desk to ask for an additional night. I was told that there was no room available. The next day, around 6:25am, I went back to the front desk to ask a different associate, and the response was the same. Around 10am, a fellow participant told me he just got his room extended for an additional night. I went back to the front desk and asked for the manager this time. She told me that it could be that a room opened up at the time my fellow participant was at the front desk. I was not only frustrated that I was basically "being kicked out" during a hurricane time, but so disappointed that as a Hilton Honors member, she didn`t even try to assist by maybe suggesting a sister hotel or something-being helpful. So, I checked out shortening my last day events and checked in at the Hilton Garden Inn near the MSY airport. I went from bad to worse experience. The room there smelled like mold. The kitchen was closed so no food. In the middle of the night, we lost the power due to hurricane Francine landfall. I had to use my phone`s flashlight to take a shower in the morning, couldn`t charge my laptop or phone, couldn`t use the TV, had to use the stairs with my luggage using my flashlight. After checking out, I asked when will the shuttle to the airport arrive to be told that the free shuttle advertised was not going to run that day. How a hotel, near the airport, did not have a generator given the location or at the minimum be better prepared for a hurricane announced all over the news is beyond my understanding. And yet, I am grateful to have lived this experience that I am sharing so that others may not.

You pay $42 for parking. It’s a nightmare the next day getting out, as you pay at reception for parking but no one answers the call when you push the button to exit the lot. Room was clean, spacious and quiet. Check in was good, it is a great location and good price. Housekeeping staff could greet and smile at guests. Overall good stay. Parking took 5 star to 3.

My husband and I spent 3 days at this hotel while attending a conference in the area. We were given two connecting rooms - one room had a king murphy bed, a sofa, a side chair, a kitchenette and a separate bathroom - the second room had two king beds and a separate bathroom - both rooms had river views which were spectacular. We found all of the accommodations to be 5 star and the staff were all amazing to deal with. We had dinner at Dragos the first night and the food was simply amazing. I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation and I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who was thinking of staying in the area. The paddleboat entrance was within walking distance of the hotel, just an added perk to our stay. We are not gamblers so the location in proximity to two casinos may be a selling point for other potential guests.

This hotel is absolutely terrible. I came here with several people from Texas for a business conference. I have a certain level of expectation for a Hilton hotel, and I can assure you that this location did not meet it at all.
First of all, there was absolutely no hot water in my room, and after I called maintenance, I was told that the five floors below me were vacant so I just had to run it for over 15 minutes for it to get hot. Which is interesting, because one member of a party was unable to get a room due to them being overbooked. There was also a leak coming from under my sink that caused my entire bathroom to get wet while I was running the water waiting for it to get hot to wash my face.
This hotel is also conveniently located directly above a railroad track where a train blows its horn throughout the day and night.
In room dining was also a joke, they say that the in room dining goes from 6 to 11 AM but you have to get your order in by 945 or 10 as they will not take orders after that. There is a small deli downstairs, but with a huge volleyball tournament being here, there are absolutely no options for snacks by mid morning.
None of the buttons on the side of the phone work if you are trying to reach anyone within the hotel regarding anything at all. I had to Google the hotel and call their number from my cell phone in order to get connected to anybody.
The rooms are outdated. The furniture is outdated. The decor is old and the bathrooms are gross.

I have stayed at La Quinta’s that are better than this Hilton.

The only good thing about my experience at this hotel was a young lady named Kiki that worked within the event area. She was able to give us excellent recommendations on places to go eat while also maintaining a very pleasant attitude. Thank you Kiki for being the one shining light in this mess of a hotel.

Unfortunately, we will not return to this location ever.

I would recommend you call the Hilton directly 504-561-0500 and ask for a room number that meets your criteria. Of importance, the only way to reserve that specific room is to use their mobile app - if it's available when you check-in. Otherwise staff will help you select a room once you get there. We have found staff to be enormously helpful.

You will not have an ocean view. The beds were very comfortable. Best views are main building, upper floors. Buildings 2 and 3 have good view of river in certain rooms. I would not worry about noise. Eat at Drago’s!
