La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Orleans Downtown is often praised for its prime location, close to major attractions and public transport, and its modern, if occasionally dark, atmosphere. Guests enjoy clean and sometimes well-arranged rooms, though some have faced challenges with AC, maintenance, and housekeeping. While the amenities generally meet traveler expectations, the service receives mixed reviews, ranging from commendable to unhelpful. Moreover, the additional fees and pricing concerns have led to some dissatisfaction regarding value.

During our stay many things went wrong. No air in the room. It was stuffy and musty smelling. Our room was fixed the next day but we heard others complaining theirs never was resolved. No hair dryer in room. Had to request one to be brought up. No hot water Saturday night or Sunday. Another couple was told it would probably be Monday before they had hot water. We were checking out. They asked to be moved to another hotel and was told they would have to find another place themselves. There were several other Wyndham properties nearby but the hotel did not help them relocate. To top it off as we were checking out new people were checking in and they were not advised of the no hot water situation. I personally would like to be told this. How were sheets, bedding, bar glasses and breakfast cooking utensils cleaned with no hot water?

Everything was great. Nice hotel with great location for walking to everything. Housekeeping was a problem. They would not clean room sometimes and everyday would forget towels or coffee supplies. The front desk always corrected by bringing us towels and coffee supplies and emptied trash when room was not cleaned.

First off, prior to July of 2020, I had never stayed at a LaQuinta before. Being a former flight attendant, I had stayed at about every hotel there is, yet LaQuinta and I had never crossed paths. I was in New Orleans visiting with my daughter, and even though I desired t stay in a hotel in downtown New Orleans, I did not want to pay high prices. When I saw the rate, and then coupled it with the location, I had to take advantage. The LaQuinta is nestled right amongst the Waldorf Astoria, the Intercontinental, the JW Marriott, and the other hotel giants. It is literally less than two blocks from Canal St, Bourbon St, and the French Quarter.

I arrived at the hotel VERY early, I'd say around 7 or 8am, and didn't remotely expect to be checked in, I wanted to ask the front desk if they knew any places to get a good breakfast. Michael was the front desk agent at that time. Not only was he able to guide me to a delicious breakfast spot, but he also had no problem checking me in early! He offered me my choice of floor, location and everything. He was as professional, courteous, and friendly as you could ever hope for, and he also represented LaQuinta in the highest possible standards. He made sure my room was to my liking by calling me about 15 minutes after settling in.

My room was clean, spacious, and the view from the 15th floor was spectacular. My room had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine and plenty of towels. For what I paid, I couldn't have asked for anything other than the room being totally free. I have stayed at all of the aforementioned big name hotels, and the LaQuinta more than holds it's own against all of them. And I have to say that Michael personally made my experience there unparalleled when it comes to exceptional customer service. He is a difference maker, and LaQuinta is very lucky to have him as an employee. I fully expect him to be a general manager of either that hotel or one even bigger one day.

If you're ever in the Big Easy and you want to stay in the heart of the city, in a premium hotel with super inexpensive pricing, please don't pass up the LaQuinta Inn and Suites, on Camp St.

We had all kinds of trouble with this hotel that started with check in and didn’t end until after we checked out. They canceled 2 of our 3 rooms (our plane landed at 10 pm). You had to schedule a refresh to get your room serviced 24 hours in advance which we were not told about during check in. The pool is only open until 5 pm even though it doesn’t get dark until 9pm. The pool is also closed on Monday and Tuesday which we were not told about at check in. Items disappeared from my room during a refresh. The manager replaced them only after I argued with her. During the refresh only the bottom sheet was changed on our bed I guess they were too busy going through my stuff. There was no breakfast buffet you got one small muffin, an orange and a tiny juice can per guest. The only reason I booked this hotel was to save money with the breakfast buffet and I still had to buy breakfast. I could have stayed at the Marriott for $50. Cheaper per night.

The only plus of this hotel is its location, a five-minute walk from the French Quarter, at the same time in a quiet and safe place. Now about the rest: First: you should know that even if you book a room via hotel.com and you have indicated that payment will be made upon arrival at the hotel, do not believe it. On the morning of the day of arrival (that is, even before arrival), money will be withdrawn from your card to pay for the hotel. And if suddenly there is not enough money on your card, then your reservation will simply be canceled. Thank God that my husband saw an attempt to withdraw money, and I called the hotel asking them to repeat the attempt of payment when we put enough money. Second: we booked two rooms with different names, and of course, for these rooms payment was charged in the morning. When we arrived, it turned out that even despite the payment, the second number was canceled! Thank God that there was a low season and our number was restored from deleted. But it was unpleasant. Third: We arrived at 4pm. That is, even later than the specified time of arrival. However, our suite was not yet ready! One number was provided to us immediately, as it's reservation was restored, and the second number we had to wait 30 minutes! Fourth: Since we arrived by car, at the time of registration we left it at the entrance. Further, we found out that the hotel uses public parking in the neighborhood, and charge the cost of $ 10 more. When my husband returned from the parking lot, about to drive off the car on his own, the doorman talked to him in very rude form, not allowing my husband to even take an umbrella to return to the hotel without getting wet. Fifth: Awful breakfast and an absolute lack of places for breakfast. I haven’t seen this before. The hotel is huge, but does not have its own restaurant and offers a poor breakfast in the lobby. In the lobby! For a hundred people a dozen tables? Are you seriously? We had to take a plate and either go to the room or sit in a chair and eat from our knees. Sixth: Indicated that the hotel has happy hours. Okay, at least something. But no, that’s not what we are used to seeing — a snack and a drink as a compliment. It's just a discount on drinks at their bar ... Very weird. From the good, I can add that our suite was spacious, the bed was good, reasonably clean and comfortable. It’s also good that there is coffee, tea, water and apples in the lobby! All in all, I will no longer stay at this hotel

I have stayed at this location over the past 10 years at least 100 times and this stay was by far, the best experience. This hotel is located in the heart of the city and easily accessible to many restaurants and events and also about a 5 minute walk to Harrah's casino, if you are a gambler, like myself. I was not present for the breakfast bc of COVID but i have had their breakfast before and it is not bad. They have renovated the rooms and are always exceptionally clean and the staff currently on board is da bomb! Alteion checked me and she is such a pleasant young lady and I will be returning again bc of her. The only downfall I have with this hotel is the OverNight security lady that is quite rude. I stayed at the location last Thursday and forgot my face mask in my room and as we were getting off the elevator and walking to the front door, she proceeded to stop us like we were criminals. Her tone and chastising demeanor did not sit well with me due to the fact she talked to us like children, as well as, i was unable to use my own hand sanitizer in the lobby bc she didn't like the way it smelled and tried to make me use hers. My brother in law also had issues on Sunday with the same lady, who talked to him the same way and would not allow him to use the sanitizer in the lobby DESIGNATED FOR THE GUESTS USE. She is the only downfall to the hotel but Just remember your face mask and its not much of a problem bc she is only there at night.

It's a nice place with friendly staff and within easy walking distance to Canal Street, the French Quarter, the Riverfront and many restaurants.
The lobby looked pretty.
The two ladies at the concierge desk were helpful, gave us free city maps and useful tips about where to shop, where to go, the supermarkets and malls.
The rooms were very essential, with basic furniture: there was absolutely nothing fancy about the rooms.
Shower head was not working properly, everything in bathroom is outdated and bath tub is not inviting.
The bathroom has two doors, like two closet doors, not one regular door.
They closed but did not lock, we were not happy about the limited privacy.
Urgent update is necessary.
The TV set was pretty small, with only the most popular tv channels.
A big drawback was the breakfast, with very rigid 6 to 9 timetable.
We were disappointed, it was poor, not good, a little disorganized, with plasticware and paper plates. Like at the kindergarten, enough to get going but rather bland and boring.
The breakfast room was very crowded and it was difficult to find a chair. We skipped it most of the times
Coffee is available all day long from a coffee machine located in the lobby.
Overall, a decent stay at reasonable rate.

This hotel was in a great location. We were informed at check in that they not have hot water , but were working to fix the issue. Next morning still no hot water. A new hot water unit was put in that day so a hot shower was available that night. Breakfast could be better. Overall this is a good option for a visit to New Orleans.

Stayed for my birthday trip. The hotel was in a great location and was a 7 minute walk to Bourbon St. The breakfast was decent, but the servers weren’t attentive so me and other guest waited 30+ minutes for food to be restocked while it was sitting in trays in the back. Check in/out was smooth and the staff gave us a discount site for parking and it was $86 for the stay with in/out access. The diner across the street was great and convenient. Rooms are decent but should be updated because they are dark. The french door to the bathroom were my enemy and should be replaced with a regular door. The sink water took a while to get hot but the shower was just fine. The drains were slow to empty in the sink and shower. The toilet is very loud when flushing and you have to hold it down. Front desk service was good. Room service didn’t come clean at all so I was always asking for new towels and had to put trash outside the door to be emptied and get new bags. No blow dryer in the room. The ac works great.

I really wanted to love this hotel, but there are two really glaring problems! First.. the housekeeping staff will only “make-up” your room if you have stayed for three days! Seriously… you expect guests to go find a housekeeper or go down to the front desk to ask for new towels, shampoo and soap plus coffee on a daily basis?? We stayed for 5 nights, but could only get housekeeping for a few of the days. Second.. the “free” breakfast is severely lacking compared to ALL the other La Quinta properties I have encountered. The yogurt was Yoplait with Trix cereal, apple juice only, no tea bags, etc. Join the rest of the country and world by providing healthy breakfast options! This hotel is in a good location, but there are probably better hotels in the financial area of New Orleans that will meet most if not all your needs!

I would encourage calling the hotel desk directly. Staff was professional and helpful when we were there but I would expect holding luggage might be determined by how many rooms have been booked.
