Our room had an excellent view of the lake from the 2nd floor. The room was well equipped and very clean. With the lovely weather we had all our meals on the outside terrace that looks over the gardens, St Gilgen and lake. We had half board. There was a 4 course evening meal with a choice of three main...

The Parkhotel Billroth is a wonderful historic Austrian hotel set on a verdant hill with the most striking views of Wolfgangsee. The hotel was built over 100 years ago as a summer home of one of Austria's prominent surgeons of that day - Dr Theodore Billroth. The hotel is a classic - stunning views of the glacial lake, an expansive,...

We stayed in this hotel for 6 days. The place is lovely. The house itself with the big bar with furniture from another time. This house belonged to a famous doctor late 1900-century, later rebuilt several times, but the atmosphere is there. The park is lovely, The sea house is very good, with bathing possibility (even on a hot day...

This hotel is in a lovely location and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. We had decided not to pay the extra for a lake view as we did not spend a lot of time in it. We had a small balcony that looked onto trees, that was fine with us - the higher rooms would have looked onto...

If I had to rate the hotel and the location alone, I would definitely rate it a 5 stars. However, due to the somewhat poor service i have dropped 2 stars and gave it a 3 star. The last 2 reviews are very accurate and this is what we faced. When we checked in, the receptionist simply guided us to...

Being a hotel reviewer, I have had the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful hotels in the world and sadly, the worst. Billroth unfortunately falls into the latter. I left this hotel in disbelief. I have never felt so unwelcome, uninformed or unliked in all my life. When me and my sister arrived we were greeted by a...

Check-in: A truly bizarre greeting from this hotel. While the girl on reception had a very sweet nature, we simply were taken to our room and given a key. We did not receive any information about the hotel and were further stumped to find there was absolutely no information in our room – and none materialised throughout the entire duration...

Back for another year, same room but major changes as new seminar suite added under terrace. Able to eat on the terrace for the first few days and although large seminar group arrived on day two of our holiday no additional waiting staff available so receptionist pressed into service. Rain later in the week meant meals indoors and still limited...

Believe me when I say-there is no exaggeration on the hotel website. This heritage hotel has a breath-taking view of the Wolfgansee lake and offers large spacious rooms. We paid 12,000 INR per night for this property. Our room number was 154 (the best in the hotel I think) This property is the best in St.Gilgen with the best views....
