Location, location, location. The hotel is on the water side of Alii Drive. Which for us is a big part of being in a tropical location. If you are interested in world travel see our not for profit blog havecarryonwilltravel.com. It is a 1/2 mile or so from 'downtown' but you need a car to get around Kona anyway so...

I discovered this hotel on TripAdvisor and was happy with the choice. This is an older property and the rooms have no TV's or clock radios. In my three nights here, I heard ZERO room noise from other guests. The only constant sound is the crashing of the surf outside, which put me to sleep in about 2 minutes. Rooms...

I stayed on the big island for eight nights in three totally different hotels/locations. I was at the Kona Tiki for my first four nights and it was by far my favorite. If you require luxury, a TV, air conditioning or a sandy beach front property, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a charming, quiet, comfortable, affordable hotel...

We spent four nights at the Kona Tiki Hotel and had a great time. Be warned that the rooms don't have TVs or phones, air conditioning, and the wifi is iffy, but if you are trying to get away from it all, this isn't bad at all. Our room was clean and the view was awesome. For the price you...

Two of the best things about this hotel were Gary & Michelle who run the place - so helpful, friendly, easy-going and amenable. The pool - right next to the ocean - was a treat, as was the mini-jungle in the grounds, full of finches and doves cooing and chirping. Breakfast of fruit and bagels etc served between the pool...

We spent three nights here in a single (queen) room on the ground floor. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and functional, and included a handy frig. The lanai offered a spectacular view of waves crashing over the seawall a few feet away and onto the pocket beach next door. There's even a pool, though we didn't use it. Occasional...

We depend upon Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed with the Kona Tiki which got great reviews. We LOVED our time here and will definitely stay here again!! Michelle and Gary were fabulous to help with activity plans and recommendations. The room was clean and comfortable. The best part was falling asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves....

We loved the Kona Tiki! It was our first trip to Hawaii and we got such a big kick out of things like the crashing waves, gigantic cruise ships, surfers, exotic songbirds, and even crabs and EELS, right outside our clean, comfortable room! The view from our Lanai was gorgeous! Our hosts, Gary and Michelle were really friendly and easy...

After staying 4 days in Hilo, we stayed 4 nights in the Kona Tiki Hotel. We only have good things to say about the place. In comparison to Hilo, Kona is quite touristic but the hotel is a little oasis of peace with good rooms, gorgeous views over the ocean, a nice little pool, good breakfast and the kindest staff....

This 10 room hotel is spotless, accommodating, and right on the water. I fell asleep to the sound of waves crashing right outside my patio. Rooms come with or without a kitchenette and a continental breakfast is included. Guests are mostly older, so it would not be a good place for a family with young children. Make your reservations will...
