We booked a week in unit 407 initially. When we arrived, we had to change to another room because this unit smelled so bad we were unable to stay there. The bathroom has not been remodeled and looks unsanitary. Ginnie was as accommodating as possible....More

Response from AlohaAdeline, Manager at Hale Kona Kai CondominiumsResponded 24 February 2009

I am very confused by this review. The guests in question initially requested a corner unit with wrap around lanai but "could not afford" one. They choose unit 407 for their stay. Prior to going to their condo they asked our on site manager for...More

We just returned home from Hawaii. We enjoyed our stay at Hale Kona Kai, #409 on the Big Island. The location of the condo was ideal...not down town, but within walking distance. The first evening there we were relaxing on the lanai, and my husband...More

Incredible value for a waterfront location. We saw turtles, dolphins, and had great access to snorkeling and restaurants. The unit was older, of course, but it was clean and comfortable and the sunset views are just impossible to beat. Check-in, check-out and parking were all...More

This was our 2nd time in Kona and this condo (#302) was just perfect for our needs. We didn't eat out much because we had our own beachside table on the lanai. You can't beat the view with the surf directly below you and the...More

Our 2nd stay at Hale Kona Kai #409 was even better than the first. The spacious, comfortable condo has been recently upgraded with new carpet, countertops, range and more. The cookware is attractive and functional - the pots sit flat on the stove and there...More

All of the replies are accurate. However, it is important that you know there are no lifeguards on most of the beaches and the waves and surges can be very difficult for a beginning or younger swimmer.

You will like this place. 208 is on the lowest floor so you will experience a bit more moisture from the ocean when the waves are rolling good. Otherwise the white noise is awesome.
