I stayed here for a week on a timeshare exchange during one of the busiest weeks of the year. I was surprised how quiet it was. Most of the folks are older, few families with kids. The layout of the property is excellent. Almost every room has some view of the ocean. Buildings A and D have great views of...

Family of 4 for 10 nights at Kona Reef D-8. This housing complex is in walking distance to dining and shopping. This is a ground level corner unit, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, kitchen, dining, living area and lanai. We had asked to get in early due to traveling for 24 hours. Although not guaranteed, housekeeping saw me sitting in the...

My wife and I stayed here for one week to celebrate her birthday and welcome in the new year. We reserved through VRBO and stayed in A35, which was on the top floor and looked out right over the ocean. The view really couldn't have been better. The condo had recently been renovated and the grounds at the complex were...

We have been coming to the Kona Reef girls over 20 years and IF we won the lottery, we would buy a two bedroom unit in building D. It is that good! Walking distance to a variety of restaurants and with a wonderful sunset facing lanai, it is has everything you would want. A well constructed building makes noise levels...

We stayed in Unit D5 for 15 days. It was a one bed with a pull out couch but we were two people so it worked fine. The complex is old but well kept with lots of parking. The pool area is very clean and well maintained. We generally don't use the pool but this time we did and it...

I had a confirmation 3 months prior to the stay and had even called to reconfirm the reservation several days later. Upon arrival they did not have the suite that we had reserved and could not locate the reservation in their system. I showed them the confirmation email and they confirmed it was legitimate. The only positive thing was that...

We stayed at Kona Reef Resort but we stayed in a privately owned condo and rented through VRBO. Reservations where easy and the unit was as described. We were in unit A-5, 1 bedroom, full kitchen, oceanfront, ground floor, washer/dryer. Pull out mattress is a bit thin and probably should be replaced. The air-conditioning unit is very loud on the...

In November 2013, I visited Kona Reef for a week and I am pretty sure I gave it a glowing trip advisor review. I definitely recommended it to several friends who were looking for a condo in a central location in Kona. I decided to stay here again on my 4th trip to the island in November 2016 because I...

E-22 at Kona Reef Resort is the nicest unit I've stayed in yet and I've stayed in quite a few of them. E building is nice because you get sunlight all day-it's never dark like some of the other (B) buildings and you aren't blinded by the sunset coming directly into your living room like in the direct ocean front...

We chose to do a VRBO for the first time. The Kona reef is in a great location and has a great Boogie boarding spot out front. The barbecue area and pool are nice. The only complaint I have is that our unit is quite outdated with the bathroom in dire need of updating. It is hard to tell from...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your Kona Reef stay. You are correct that the condos differ from each other in terms of how much they've been updated, etc. Each condo is owned by an individual owner. It's helpful to mention the condo number in your review as it helps future guests to know which...
